Former Vice President Mike Pence plans to challenge a subpoena issued by the special counsel overseeing the investigations into former President Donald Trump, according to two people familiar with his plans. The sources confirmed that he intends to claim legislative privilege, mounting the argument that because he was president of the Senate as vice president, he was a member of the legislative branch and should be shielded from Justice Department questioning under the Constitution's "speech or debate" clause. Under the clause, members shall "be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going...

Republican lawmakers criticized Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg for his response to the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, which marks the most recent of several high-profile infrastructure disasters during his two-year tenure. The derailment, which occurred on February 3, caused a fire that lasted several days. Officials decided to evacuate all residents within one mile of the crash and initiated a controlled burn of the chemicals to mitigate the risk of an explosion; five train cars of vinyl chloride, a carcinogen that can contaminate water supplies, was released into the atmosphere in the form of massive plumes of dark smoke...
  • UCLA wants your help searching for extraterrestrial life

UCLA’s SETI group will launch a new project on Tuesday that allows the public to assist scientists in classifying radio signals that could be signs of extraterrestrial life, a news release said. Participants will then be asked to select an image, provided by researchers, that closely resembles the radio signal they previously saw. The goal is to match the signals to the “common classes of radio frequency interference,” a news release said. Scientists with the group have observed about 42,000 stars and over 64 million radio signals and have technology that discards about 99.5% of the signals that are either...

Numerous red balloons floating off the coast of Florida's panhandle this week may be an unwelcome and alarming sight for some residents amid recent reports of American fighter jets shooting down unfamiliar flying objects. But, according to Eglin Air Force Base, it's just part of a planned weather experiment by the Naval Postgraduate School. The base said a little over a dozen red balloons will be set free in the winter sky. "Each day, balloons will be released between 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. to collect weather data for a Naval Postgraduate School research project to understand the physical interaction...

Speaking to reporters at the White House Monday afternoon, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre assured Americans a number of "objects" that were shot down by the U.S. in recent days are not aliens or extraterrestrial beings. The clarification comes after United States Northern Command and North American Aerospace Defense Command General Glen VanHerck refused to rule out the possibility the objects could be aliens. And while the White House claims they know unknown objects were not aliens, National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby told reporters the objects still cannot be identified and cannot be classified as balloons. When...

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Small arms, ATGMs, MANPADS, loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles, trailers and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When the...

In the last 24 hours I’ve had 2 comments removed and warned once by Facebook and the other Quora. One for posting a photo/meme of Goebbels and the other for answering a Quora question about specific examples of communist atrocities by the USSR in ww2 (I gave a reference to the Smithsonian magazine). Unlike previous times I’ve been flagged or booted I was not involved in arguments or acrimonious language. This is highly unlikely it’s a random coincidence but possible. My guess is they have met or have been given directives to increase censorship.

House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul revealed Sunday that the Chinese spy balloon that traversed the United States "did a lot of damage." Speaking on CBS News' "Face the Nation," the Texas Republican explained that by not preemptively downing the balloon, the Biden administration essentially allowed China to gather intelligence on areas sensitive to national security. The noteworthy revelation came after host Margaret Brennan asked McCaul about new restrictions enacted on six Chinese companies whose technology was used in the spy balloon's construction. "It will be one of my number-one priorities, as the chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee...

Jill Biden is spreading the love once again this Valentine’s Day, sharing a message of kindness on the North Lawn of the White House. The first lady continued her tradition of presenting some eye-catching heart-filled décor to celebrate Feb. 14. Early on Tuesday morning, a massive “Valentine to the country” was installed on the North Lawn of the White House. Alongside illustrated versions of the Bidens’ furry family members, German Shepherd Commander and cat Willow, was a message: “Reach out with open hearts and helping hands this Valentine’s Day.”

KALAMAZOO, MI — With sheepishness in his voice and a spot of Three-Pepper Sauce™ on his collar, local accountant Zed Filbertson was seen on a call with his credit card company, informing them that yes, regretfully he was actually eating at Arby's for the third time that day. The credit card company's fraud detection unit expressed skepticism at Filbertson's claim. "I assure you, I'm sitting in a booth at the 5th South Arby's right now, finishing up my curly fries and pondering my life choices," insisted Mr. Filbertson as he finished up his curly fries and sighed audibly. "I understand...

A key signer of the open letter that wrongly suggested The Post’s bombshell reporting on Hunter Biden’s emails was part of a “Russian information operation” has accused Politico of distorting “what we said” — more than two years after the fact. Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper tried Monday to tamp down the growing controversy over the letter that he and 50 other ex-spooks signed after The Post first revealed the existence of the first son’s infamous laptop in October 2020. Their public statement, now the subject of investigations by the Republican-led House Judiciary and Intelligence committees, was first...
  • Parts Of Trump Probe Report To Be Published

Three sections of a special grand jury's report into possible criminal election interference by former President Donald Trump and others will be published Thursday, including concerns about witnesses lying under oath, a Georgia judge ruled Monday. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert C.I. McBurney said in his order that the report's introduction and conclusion will also be published, despite a request from the district attorney leading the investigation for the document to remain under wraps. Judge McBurney, who considered arguments about the report's publication in late January, agreed to an extent with a coalition of media companies, which claimed the...

Inflation picked up in the first month of the year, defying optimism from investors and officials over a steady move lower seen in recent readings. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for January showed a 0.5% increase in prices over the past month, an acceleration from the prior reading, government data showed Tuesday. On an annual basis, CPI rose 6.4%, continuing a steady march down from a 9.1% peak last June. Economists had expected prices to climb 6.2% over the year and jump 0.5% month-over-month, per consensus estimates from Bloomberg. New seasonal adjustments released by the BLS on Friday also switched...

God will perfect His work in you "until the day of Christ Jesus" (Phil. 1:6). Someday God will glorify and reward every believer. For Christians there's an element of truth to the bumper sticker that reads, "Please be patient, God isn't finished with me yet." We aren't what we used to be, but there's much to be done to make us all He wants us to be. Yet God's work within us is so sure and so powerful, Scripture guarantees its completion. Pondering that guarantee led Bible expositor F.B. Meyer to write, "We go into the artist's studio and find...

China accused the US of hypocrisy over spying Monday, claiming the Biden administration had flown more than 10 high-altitude balloons in its airspace over the past year – a claim Washington categorically denied. The Chinese allegation came nine days after the US military shot down a Beijing spy balloon that had crossed from Alaska to South Carolina, sparking a new crisis in relations between the two powers that were already at their lowest level in decades. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin offered no evidence to back up the claim about the US balloons, such as how they had been dealt...

Black students circulated list of slurs against white people A document reportedly linked to black students at numerous universities refers to white people as “maggots,” “vermin” and “roaches.” Altogether the document contains hundreds of derogatory names for white people, with some listed as a “favorite.” One of the listed favorites was “decomposing form of humanity.” Other names referred to white people as “pigs” and “rats.” Auburn University student Jaden Heard, who is not in the campus Black Student Union, provided the document to Turning Point USA on behalf of a member of the group. The days of “an honest wage for a day’s work” are long gone. In addition to having to work harder while inflation eats up their pay increases, employees are now forced to monitor their behavior and even their own thoughts in order to keep their jobs. Freedom of speech and expression are gone -- even when you’re not at work. Corporations are caving to pressure from liberal groups and government bureaucracies and establishing policies to silence all forms of conservative thought and speech in order to advance the liberal agenda. Worst of all, as consumers, we’re supporting these companies without...
