(Daily readings from the USCCB)“My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my savior.” Luke 1:46–47There is an age-old question that asks, “Which came first, the chicken or the egg?” Well, perhaps it’s an age-old “question” because only God knows the answer to how He created the world and all the creatures within it.Today, this first line from the glorious song of praise of our Blessed Mother, the Magnificat, poses to us another question. “Which comes first, to praise God or to rejoice in Him?” Perhaps you’ve never asked yourself that question, but it’s worth...

It’s a Dell Inspiron 15-3501, just three months old, running Windows 11. After its first six weeks, its internal Wireless Adaptor [Intel Wireless-AC 9462] froze up, so I lost internet access. The Dell technician determined the hardware is fine and it’s a software issue, not covered by Dell’s basic hardware warranty. So, I paid Dell $99 for a fix-or-don’t-pay phone session with their software technician. He had me try different fixes, and the ninth one worked: resetting the BIOS to Factory Defaults. Then, he offered me an ongoing service contract for $9 monthly. I declined. Since then, the Adaptor has...

In 2019 the FBI received, investigated, and eventually closed an investigation into a tip on the gunman who opened fire inside Indiana’s Greenwood Mall on July 17, 2022. Breitbart News reported the gunman exited a bathroom near the mall’s food court and began firing at innocents. Greenwood Police Chief James Ison noted that 22-year-old Elisjsha Dicken pulled a concealed carry handgun, opened fire on the mall shooter, and “neutralized” him just 15 seconds after the attack began. The attacker was able to kill three innocents during the 15 second-duration of the attack.

Chicago — A 19-year-old Lakeview man robbed a Boystown bank on Monday afternoon, less than an hour after his landlord threatened to begin eviction proceedings if he didn’t pay past-due rent, federal officials said in court documents. Chicago police located Myles Thorpe near his home in the 400 block of West Diversey after following a GPS tracker that the bank’s teller hid in a stack of cash. An FBI agent’s complaint against Thorpe said his landlord knocked on his door 52 minutes before the robbery to demand payment of $1,924.75 in back rent. Just before 2 p.m., Thorpe allegedly slid...

NATIONAL DATE NUT BREAD DAY National Date Nut Bread Day on December 22nd delivers a baker’s delight to celebrate. Incidentally, some sources also suggest the day is celebrated on September 8th, too. #DateNutBreadDay Dates Believed to have originated around Iraq, dates have been a staple food of the Middle East and the Indus Valley for thousands of years. They have been cultivated since ancient times from Mesopotamia to prehistoric Egypt, possibly as early as 4000 BCE. In 1765, the Spaniards introduced dates into Mexico and California. Dates provide essential nutrients and are an excellent source of dietary potassium. In ripe...

Conservatives lawmakers and activists responded to President Biden's joint press conference with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy Wednesday by saying the United States should stop sending money to the war-torn country. During the press conference, Biden reaffirmed the U.S.'s commitment to provide aid to Ukraine in its efforts to maintain its national sovereignty. However, some conservatives argued that the United States has already provided enough aid to the country and that America's limited resources would be better used to help citizens at home. Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., a conservative Republican who is challenging Rep. Kevin McCarthy for House Speaker, tweeted "No...

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made a direct appeal to Republican critics during his Wednesday address to a joint meeting of Congress, telling lawmakers that no country was safe in the face of Russian aggression. In a speech that won several standing ovations from both sides of the aisle, Zelenskyy predicted the war will hit a turning point next year just as Republicans are set to take control of the U.S. House of Representatives. "The struggle will define in what world our children and grandchildren will live," said Zelenskyy. "This battle cannot be frozen or postponed, it cannot be ignored hoping...

Its another slow growth economic report for the Biden Administration. So much stimulus, so little to show for it other than painful inflation. On a year-over-year (YoY) basis, US real GDP rose to a measly 1.9%. US core PCE YoY fell slightly to 4.93%. M2 Money growth is at 2.6% YoY. The Misery Index (U-3 inflation rate + inflation) remains elevated and above 10% (it currently clocks-in at 12%), far above the pre-Covid reading of around 5%. Here is the rest of the story. On a quarter-over-quarter basis, real GDP rose to 3.2% QoQ. Personal consumption rose 2.3% QoQ. Core...

It would be fun to pretend that we are all still living in “The Land of the Free,” but we are learning more each day that such an idea just isn’t realistic.I am fond of saying that I was never a conspiracy theory kind of guy but after 2020 I now have a walk-in closet full of tin foil hats. What used to be called “out there” thinking is now merely the truth. What we have learned thus far from the Twitter Files is that the leftists in the United States government were working overtime to prop up mainstream media’s false...

The more than 4,000-page, $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill prohibits funds for U.S. border security but it provides funding for border security in foreign nations. Democrats need at least 10 votes from GOP senators to pass the legislation, which was unveiled on Tuesday. Congressional leaders are rushing to pass it before the Christmas break. House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy opposes the bill, arguing that Congress should pass a funding bill that expires in January, allowing the new Congress to negotiate its own package. North Carolina Republican Rep. Dan Bishop and his staff combed through the legislation all day Tuesday and...

An effort led by Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) to maintain Title 42 is threatening efforts to pass a sweeping government funding bill before a shutdown deadline later this week. Congressional negotiators on both sides say the biggest holdup is ongoing negotiations to decide what the voting threshold would be to pass the amendment. Lee’s amendment to the bipartisan deal would cut funding for Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’s office unless the Biden administration reinstates the border control policy known as Title 42, a Trump-era policy that allows for migrants to be quickly expelled at the border without asylum processing. The...

Editor’s note: Among many of the most pressing ethical issues of our day is deep confusion over what it means to be human. From questions over abortion and racism to technology and sexuality, human anthropology lies at the heart of contemporary cultural debate. In light of the ongoing sexual crisis seen throughout our society, certain realities that once seemed common sense to most are being challenged in what is a failed quest to define our own existence and live independent of God’s created order. As part of the ongoing research efforts at the ERLC, the following article, as well as...

While electric vehicles may seem to be all the rage in the automotive space, Toyota Motor Corporation president Akio Toyoda is pumping the brakes on the idea of an all-in approach. "People involved in the auto industry are largely a silent majority," Toyoda told reporters during a trip to Thailand, according to the Wall Street Journal. "That silent majority is wondering whether EVs are really OK to have as a single option. But they think it's the trend so they can't speak out loudly." "Because the right answer is still unclear, we shouldn't limit ourselves to just one option," he...

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said on Wednesday on FNC’s “America Reports” that Russia’s war in Ukraine will end when President Vladimir Putin is taken out by somebody in Russia. Anchor John Roberts asked, “When you say all in, senator, would you agree to give Zelensky what he says he wants, which is the long-range attack artillery missiles, would you give him Gray Eagle drones, would you give him Reaper drones, would you give him all that?” Graham said, “I would give him the ability to dislodge Russians from his country. Right now, the Biden administration has done more – and...

Pray For The Peace of JerusalemMatthew 21Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King 21 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. 3 If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.” 4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet: 5 “Say to Daughter Zion,...
