While there’s been no official word, legendary British rockers Pink Floyd have been shopping their recorded-music catalog and other assets for several months, seeking as much as $500 million, according to the Financial Times, with both major music companies and investment firms as the top bidders. But sources say an explosive new interview with founding member, main songwriter and stakeholder Roger Waters — in which he makes extensive remarks about Israel, Ukraine, Russia, the U.S. and other political matters that one could politely characterize as controversial — is giving at least one potential buyer cold feet and seems likely to...

Our Western Elites™ are obsessed with promoting suicide, but usually it is the suicide of someone else. But in the case of Nature, the British science journal, it is their own suicide that they are rushing toward. A once proud journal that was widely held to be the most prestigious in the world, Nature’s editors have decided that Western science is vastly overrated and should be “decolonized.” If there is one thing science is not, it is colonized. Science, as we currently understand it, is a wholly European invention of recent origin. No colonizing required. Westerners as far as I...

Former President Donald Trump confirmed Friday he met this week with Ye — the rapper formerly known as Kanye West — and far-right activist Nick Fuentes, whom the Justice Department has called a “white supremacist.” Trump said in a post on Truth Social that he was not expecting Fuentes to attend the dinner at his Mar-a-Lago resort and claimed he didn’t know anything about Fuentes, who led “Stop the Steal” rallies after the 2020 presidential election in support of Trump’s false claims about widespread fraud. “This past week, Kanye West called me to have dinner at Mar-a-Lago,” said Trump, who...

More and more apartment compounds in Beijing on Friday forbade residents from leaving for at least a few days. "You constantly hear of someone going into lockdown and you have this constant feeling that you're going to be next," Joerg Wuttke, president of the EU Chamber of Commerce in China, said Friday. It was not clear how many people were affected at a city level, and to what degree stay-in-place measures were being enforced. This morning most of our 30+ staff reported their communities went into a 7-day lockdown," James Zimmerman, partner in the Beijing office of Perkins Coie, said...

On Thursday, Dana Rivers, 67, a transgender activist from San Jose was convicted of the murder of three people. The jury deliberated for less than one day before returning with a guilty verdict. The evidence against Rivers was significant, including being covered in the victims’ blood. Rivers carried out the slaying of victims Charlotte Reed, 56, her wife Patricia Wright, 57, and Wright’s 19-year-old son, Benny Toto Diambu-Wright, on October 11, 2016. Prosecutors held that River’s motive was that Reed had left an all-women’s motorcycle club, the now-defunct Deviants, and Rivers considered himself an “enforcer” who sought revenge. Deputy District...

Explanation: Beautiful spiral galaxy NGC 6744 is nearly 175,000 light-years across. That's larger than the Milky Way. It lies some 30 million light-years distant in the southern constellation Pavo, with its galactic disk tilted towards our line of sight. This Hubble close-up of the nearby island universe spans about 24,000 light-years or so across NGC 6744's central region. The Hubble view combines visible light and ultraviolet image data. The giant galaxy's yellowish core is dominated by the visible light from old, cool stars. Beyond the core are star-forming regions and young star clusters scattered along the inner spiral arms. NGC...

Luke 21:29-33 Friends, in today’s Gospel passage, Jesus speaks of the time when the plan of God will be fulfilled. Some philosophies defend a circular or cyclic understanding of time. They hold that time just continually circles back on itself, repeating like the cycles of the seasons. The modern philosopher Nietzsche spoke of the “eternal return of the same.” That’s a mythic consciousness, and it can be found all over the world. But the Jews had a very different sense of time, what we might call “linear.” They felt that time was moving somewhere, that it had, under God’s direction, a...

“Come, Let Us Go Up to the Mountain of the Lord” (Isaiah 2:1-5) “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD.” The prophet Isaiah says that this is what many peoples, many nations, will say in the latter days. “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob.” And this is what we say--yes, you and I--this is what we say in these latter days, because this is equivalent to saying, “Come, let us go to church.” Really? Yes, really! Because this now--this place, the church--this is...

Imagine that a progressive American city creates a financial incentive for residents to “transition” from man to woman or from woman to man. That’s exactly what San Francisco has just done with a program called Guaranteed Income for Transgender People, or GIFT . This is like using a fire hose to spray a burning skyscraper with gasoline. Talk about perverse incentives. Anyone want to bet that, if this program expands, the number of San Francisco’s poor who say they identify as transgender also will expand? Of course, San Francisco already is a lab for bad policy ideas. But giving guaranteed...

Defeated Republican Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake’s campaign has sued Maricopa County and its election officials, demanding they respond to the campaign’s public records requests about malfunctions on Election Day before the county certifies its vote canvass on Monday. Maricopa County, which spans the Phoenix area and comprises about 60 percent of Arizona’s population, has become the epicenter of election challenges this cycle, and the complaint marks the Lake campaign’s first post-Election Day lawsuit. County election officials acknowledge printer mishaps at some vote centers on Election Day but insist residents still had multiple ways to cast a ballot for counting....
