DETROIT (AP) — A judge on Wednesday struck down Michigan's 1931 anti-abortion law, months after suspending it, the latest development over abortion rights in a state where the issue is being argued in courtrooms and, possibly, at the ballot box. The law, which was long dormant before the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June, violates the Michigan Constitution, said Judge Elizabeth Gleicher. “A law denying safe, routine medical care not only denies women of their ability to control their bodies and their lives — it denies them of their dignity,” Gleicher of the Court of Claims wrote....

Both Republicans have been at odds with Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and neither of them are running for reelection Tarrant County Judge Glen Whitley, one of Texas’ most prominent Republican local leaders, is backing Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick’s Democratic challenger. “The one person who I’ll support statewide that will get me a little in trouble: Mike Collier for lieutenant governor,” Whitley said on Y’all-itics, a WFAA politics podcast. Whitley and Patrick have frequently clashed, and on the podcast Whitley slammed Patrick for waging “war on local elected officials.” Just days after Whitley made the endorsement that crossed party lines, an...

Anderson Cooper has testified that he will accept pre-agreed answers during interviews about legally-thorny topics, in a deposition that lifts the lid on CNN's journalistic processes. The 55-year-old journalist, one of CNN's biggest stars, bristled when the lawyer deposing him described him as a television 'host,' and insisted that he was fully involved in reporting and not just the face of the news. He said he never attended morning editorial meetings, and, asked about who controlled his social media, replied: 'I don't look at social media that much.' On the advice of his lawyer, Cooper refused to answer questions about...

Ringo Starr’s son, Zac, was always destined to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a drummer. Interestingly, however, it wasn’t Ringo’s work with The Beatles that persuaded him to step behind the drum kit but their family friend, Keith Moon. At first, Zac Starkey had no intention of becoming a drummer and told the Pittsburgh Post in 2019 that he started as a guitarist. Starkey told the publication: “When I was about 7, I went with my dad to see T. Rex, and I said to my dad, ‘I want to be like that guy. I want a guitar....

Russia expects the price of its natural gas exports will more than double this year compared to a year ago, according to an economy ministry forecast seen by Reuters. This year's average price is now seen at $730 per 1,000 cubic meters, up 140% from 2021 and up 39% from the Kremlin's previous forecast for 2022. European gas prices have skyrocketed since Russia's invasion of Ukraine as state-run energy giant Gazprom reduces flows via the Nord Stream pipeline. After this year, Russia sees its gas export prices retreating to $471.8 in 2023 per 1,000 cubic meters, $383.9 in 2024 and...

The race in Pennsylvania between Republican Dr. Mehmet Oz and Democrat John Fetterman is heating up. While all polls show Fetterman up over Oz, the big lead Fetterman once maintained is slowly being whittled down. Ever so slowly but enough so that Real Clear Politics shows Fetterman up by 6.5 points while the last Emerson poll, for example, shows Fetterman up by 4 points. Keep the faith. Anything can happen in the last couple of months before an election. Lately Oz, a medical doctor, has been hitting Fetterman for failing to agree to debates, a legit complaint. Voters have a...

Come on, man … Those who have found the scandals surrounding the Bidens — and not just Hunter — fascinating will find themselves amused by this irreverent comedy My Son Hunter. “None of this is true,” Gina Carano informs us while playing a Secret Service protection agent, “except for all the facts.”The new offering from Breitbart Films, Phelim McAleer, and director Robert Davi places tongue firmly in cheek for most of the proceedings. Very early on, a drugged-out Hunter (Laurence Fox) encounters a small dog at an orgy, who proceeds to warn him via thought bubbles that maybe he’s getting...

We’ve seen Joe Biden and the Democrats throwing a lot of desperate things out there trying to move the needle to help them in the midterms. One of those was the despicable tactic of demonizing millions of MAGA Americans. Biden did it hoping to jazz up the leftist Trump-hating base, hoping that would get them out to vote because of the “threat to democracy.” But, as I reported, that effort to juice the vote may have backfired. A new Trafalgar poll done in partnership with the Convention of States shows what a huge blunder it was. The majority of Americans...

German Minister of Economics Robert Habeck is under fire after his comments during an interview with an ARD broadcaster on Tuesday evening. The conversation surrounded the astronomical rise in the price of energy taking all the income away from people who would purchase other goods and services. As Germans no longer can afford purchases, the stores and businesses can no longer operate. Minister Habeck was asked if that means a wave of bankruptcies and business closures are forecast. Mr. Habeck responded that businesses can stop operating, but that doesn’t mean they will go insolvent. Just because the business loses most...

In this episode of Try to Control Your Shock and Amazement…Remember how the Democrat Party and left-wing media sock puppets did their damnedest to scare the bejesus out of us over COVID-19, including quadruple-vaxxed Joe Biden — who, along with “Dr.” Jill, has contracted COVID at least twice — hysterically warned the unvaxxed about their coming “winter of severe illness and death” that never came? And the draconian lockdowns? Me, too.Contrast all of the above with the relative lack of specific hysteria over the monkeypox virus. So, why the liberal media’s difference in reporting on monkeypox vs. COVID? We know...

California’s been in the midst of a prolonged heatwave, and as we’ve reported, it’s put tremendous strain on the state’s energy grid as air conditioners run round the clock to try to keep the scorching air at bay. The problem has gotten so bad that the government has issued warnings of “rolling blackouts” to its residents. Dire “flex alert” text messages were sent out en masse by grid operators Tuesday afternoon, calling on the populace to set their ACs no lower than 78 degrees and forgo the use of appliances like washing machines. Yes, this is 21st-century life in a...

Boosting physical activity levels and curbing sitting time are highly likely to lower breast cancer risk, finds research designed to strengthen proof of causation. The findings were generally consistent across all types and stages of the disease, reveals the Mendelian randomization study, prompting the researchers to recommend a stronger focus on exercise as a way of warding off breast cancer. Mendelian randomization is a technique that uses genetic variants as proxies for a particular risk factor—in this case lifelong physical activity levels/sedentary behavior—to obtain genetic evidence in support of a causal relationship. Observational studies show that physical inactivity and sedentary...

There are an awful lot of forgotten little towns in this country and Braddock, Pennsylvania, is definitely one of them. It's only 11 miles outside Pittsburgh, but Braddock is basically empty at this point. Only 1,700 people live there — that's down from a population of more than 18,000 during the Second World War. Braddock is now so underpopulated that you can buy a four-bedroom home there with a two-car garage right in the middle of town for $3,000. Don't believe it? Check it out yourself on Realtor.com. So, you know the story: For decades, the biggest employer in Braddock...
