The euro briefly dropped below $1 Wednesday on a stronger-than-expected inflation rate in the U.S., breaking the parity threshold for the first time in 20 years. The shared currency of 19 European countries fell to $0.9998 before ticking up slightly to $1.0021 by midmorning. The last time that the euro hit parity with the dollar was 2002. In the past year, the euro has declined more than 15%. Much of the slide, though, has come since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in late February. The war has rocked the euro-area’s fragile economy, fueling inflation by pushing up energy prices and threatening...

Get over it: Microsoft is a Linux and open source company these days 'The Evil Empire' hasn't been evil for about eight years now Opinion In the beginning, Microsoft was The Evil Empire. In 2001 then CEO Steve Ballmer declared: "Linux is a cancer." Later, Microsoft sponsored SCO's copyright attack on Linux; claimed that Linux violated unnamed Microsoft patents; and forced Linux-based Android vendors to pay for dubious patent claims. Bill Gates and Ballmer's Microsoft wanted to see Linux and open-source software (OSS) dead and buried. They did it because, as Microsoft's Halloween documents show, they believed "OSS poses a direct, short-term...

TUESDAY, July 12, 2022 (HealthDay News) – More than 80% of Americans have a widely used herbicide lurking in their urine, a new government study suggests. The chemical, known as glyphosate, is “probably carcinogenic to humans,” the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer has said. Glyphosate is the active ingredient in Roundup, a well-known weed killer. The U.S. National Nutrition Examination Survey found the herbicide in 1,885 of 2,310 urine samples that were representative of the U.S. population. Nearly a third of the samples came from children ages 6 to 18. “Glyphosate is the most widely used...

European ministers on Tuesday gave their approval for Croatia to adopt the euro just as the single currency fell to its lowest level against the US dollar in two decades. The eastern European country will officially become the 20th member of the eurozone on 1 January 2023 — nearly a decade after first becoming a member of the European Union. Croatian Finance Minister Zdravko Marić described Tuesday, which was the final hurdle for the country to get the euro, as "a big day for the European Union, for European monetary Union". "The fact that Croatia will become the 20th member...

President Donald Trump shredded the “Unselect Committee of Political Hacks and Thugs” in a blistering statement shared to Truth Social on Sunday. The Jan. 6 Committee, Trump said, “is yet another Radical Left Democrat Scam used to Criminalize Politics and try, against all hope, to change what will be totally disastrous results in the 2022 and 2024 Elections.” The president continued, “They should not be allowed to get away with it any longer! Are you listening Republicans, are you listening America?” The Jan. 6 Committee has been relentlessly investigating the media-labeled “insurrection” at the United States Capitol in 2021. The...

"I don't think there is a prison, a hole underneath a prison, deep enough to throw that individual in." House Democrats appear to be unconcerned about the optics of shutting down an effort to increase penalties for child sex traffickers in an election year. On Wednesday, Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee unanimously shot down such a measure. "A question about his amendment first," Congressman Ken Buck (R-CO) said. "I want to thank Mr. Roy for this common sense amendment that deals with the overall issue, as opposed to trying to piecemeal this out. And I suspect we won't deal...

During and after his tenure in the White House, there was no love lost between Donald Trump and Maryland’s Republican Gov. Larry Hogan, who was and remains among the former president’s most outspoken critics from within the Republican Party. With Hogan term-limited and reportedly pondering a run for the presidency himself, that enmity has carried over into Maryland’s July 19 GOP gubernatorial primary to select the party’s candidate to succeed the popular governor—a Republican twice-elected to lead a Democrat-dominated state. There are four candidates on the Republican gubernatorial ballot, but the contest boils down to a two-way battle between Hogan-backed...

Ray Epps wants Americans to believe he is a victim. Yet he is in the middle of the Feds’ efforts to entrap Trump protesters on Jan 6 with false crimes. Saddam Hussein claimed the victim and now so does Ray Epps. Ray Epps, a 61-year-old former Marine, called for Trump supporters to march into the U.S. Capitol building the night prior to the Capitol attack, and then joined them as they entered the restricted grounds outside the Capitol on the day of the riot. Then… he became their scapegoat, accused of being a Deep State-directed agent provocateur. As Trump allies...

Sri Lanka's Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has told the military to do "whatever is necessary to restore order" after protesters stormed his office on Wednesday. Mr Wickremesinghe has been appointed acting president by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who has fled the country. But the decision to leave him in charge triggered further protests demanding that the prime minister must also go. Sri Lanka has been suffering from its worst economic crisis in decades. Many blame the Rajapaksa administration for the crisis and see Mr Wickremesinghe, who became prime minister in May, as part of the problem. On Wednesday, for the second...

Craig Inciardi, Glenn Horowitz and Edward Kosinski are accused of conspiring to sell Henley’s pages through auction houses, even though they knew the items were stolen. Rolling Stone...

The Georgia Record was contacted earlier this month by Kevin Moncla, an independent analyst in Dallas, TX who has been submitting open records requests to Fulton County, GA regarding the 2020 election. Moncla recently filed a complaint with the Georgia State Election Board highlighting inconsistencies found in vote totals on the night of November 8th, 2020 and the following recount in December. You can read the entire complaint on the PDF below. Essentially, the vote totals from the general to the recount didn’t match. The recount tally was off by approximately 17,000 votes. After being ordered to ‘reconcile’ the data...
