True that - I even have a list of those rulings somewhere, about a dozen or so more or less. But, there is a little rub in the Texas Education Code that makes things a bit sticky, for the ISD.

 

(d-1) A school district peace officer, a school resource officer, and security personnel shall perform law enforcement duties for the school district that must include protecting:

 

(1) the safety and welfare of any person in the jurisdiction of the peace officer, resource officer, or security personnel; and

 

(2) the property of the school district.

 

 

Presence of shall is probably what has the school administration and the chief dodging around like they are.

There was one officer that wasn’t, Ruiz. He attempted to assault in.

He was held at gunpoint, disarmed and removed from the site by his fellow officers. Who then continued to do nothing.

Who left the front door open so the lunatic was able to freely enter the school? I can’t get my mind past this initial carelessness. How access is made to schools needs examination as well as how law officers respond.

Abbott is looking like the feckless RINO he is. This morning on KHOU channel 11 (Houston) they were showing snippets of the cowards in the school which was then followed with a clip of Abbott on the day of or day after the shooting praising the law enforcement response. The news reader said "that didn't age well".
