"The Era of Osama lasted about an hour and half or so, from the time the first plane hit the tower to the moment the General Militia of Flight 93 reported for duty." - James Robbins, UPI

The Minstrel Boy - Thomas Moore:

The minstrel boy to the war has gone,
In the ranks of death you'll find him;
His father's sword he hath girded on,
And his wild harp slung behind him;
"Land of Song!" cried the warrior bard,
"Tho' all the world betrays thee,
One sword, at least, thy right shall guard,
One faithful harp shall praise thee!"

The Minstrel fell! But the foeman's chain
Could not bring that proud soul under;
The harp he lov'd ne'er spoke again,
For he tore its chords asunder;
And said "No chains shall sully thee,
Thou soul of love and brav'ry!
Thy songs were made for the pure and free
They shall never sound in slavery!

The French, as a people and a country, appear to be dedicated to worshipping and remembering the glories of the world spanning French empire that bowed to no-one and had no equals... which never existed. - Me.

“Those who say that children must not be frightened may mean two things. They may mean (1) that we must not do anything likely to give the child those haunting, disabling, pathological fears against which ordinary courage is helpless: in fact, phobias. His mind must, if possible, be kept clear of things he can’t bear to think of. Or they may mean (2) that we must try to keep out of his mind the knowledge that he is born into a world of death, violence, wounds, adventure, heroism and cowardice, good and evil. If they mean the first I agree with them: but not if they mean the second. The second would indeed be to give children a false impression and feed them on escapism in the bad sense. There is something ludicrous in the idea of so educating a generation which is born to the…atomic bomb. Since it is so likely that they will meet cruel enemies, let them at least have heard of brave knights and heroic courage. Otherwise you are making their destiny not brighter but darker.” - C.S. Lewis

"I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you
And even though
It all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah!!!" - Leonard Cohen - "Hallelujah"

Betrayed by the land that bore us,
Forlorn by those we hold dear,
The good have all gone before us,
And only the wicked are here,
So stand to…. Your glasses ready,
For the world is a world full of lies,
Here’s to those gone before us,
And here’s to the next man that dies. - RAF Toast

What is a Karen?

A Karen is a stupid, bossy, entitled woman (of any race, but most often seen as Caucasian) who demands things that she is not entitled to get and does things like demand to speak to your manager in a place you don’t work at, knowing you don’t work there, to get what she wants. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karen_(slang)

Examples of Karens:

Karen is most often reputed to have a particular bob style haircut, seen in this article:

Here is another example of a Karen caught on video:

Karen will lie to authority, cheat and steal to get what she feels she is rightfully entitled to or to get revenge. Karen is known to refuse to obey rules and believes the world revolves around her and her alone. Unsurprisingly, Karen also often demonstrates severe Narcissistic Personality Disorder:

Angry entitled black women are also Karen. Black Karen at 5:58:

Karens are becoming universally hated except by other Karens. And I’m fine with that. Don’t be a Karen.

What is Florida Man:

“Florida Man” is the world's worst superhero.

Basically, the name refers to a stereotype based on the huge number of news articles that are titled “Florida Man” followed by “does (insert name of truly colossally stupid activity here)” Case in point: https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/25/us/florida-kidnapping-covid-19-checkpoint-trnd/index.html
