Fuel Cell Being Tested The new fuel cell being tested in the lab. Credit: Imperial College London Imperial researchers have developed a new hydrogen fuel cell that uses iron instead of rare and costly platinum, enabling greater use of the technology. Hydrogen fuel cells convert hydrogen to electricity with just water vapor as a byproduct, making them an appealing green alternative for portable power, particularly for vehicles. However, the expense of one of the primary components has impeded its broad adoption. The fuel cells rely on a catalyst made of platinum, which is expensive and scarce, to assist the reaction...

Following reports that Elon Musk may be nearing a deal with the Twitter board to buy the company, leftist “verified” accounts on the platform once again went into meltdown mode at the prospect of the Musk, the self-described free speech absolutist, taking over. “Leaving Twitter” began to trend shortly after the reports of Musk-Twitter talks. Observers quickly noted the similarity in sentiment to loud declarations from prominent leftists that they would move to Canada if Donald Trump won the election in 2016 (few, if any, did). Charles Blow, a New York Times columnist who describes Trump supporters as “angry white...

While reading the news this morning, I noticed a puzzling item. Reuters was claiming there was no link between the COVID vaccine and an outbreak of liver disease in children. It seemed strange to me because I had never heard of any COVID vaccine causing liver disease, and I wondered why there was a sudden announcement that the vaccine was not causing liver disease.I did see an article that the World Health Organization (WHO) was investigating 169 cases of liver disease in children in several countries. One child has died and seventeen have required liver transplants. So far, the only...

After debuting the Chevrolet Spark EV in 2012, the tiny electric tyke most known for a snazzy Lime color option went on sale four just three years, from 2013 to 2016. In that time, GM sold roughly 7,400 units, mostly in states with zero emissions vehicle mandates like California, Oregon, and Maryland. The grudging, compliance car aspect, old battery chemistry, tiny sales total explain why EV-Resource reports that GM has discontinued Spark EV battery packs. According to some Chevrolet parts departments the outlet contacted, the order system showed the hatchback's battery pack as unavailable as of April 7. An automaker...

All of a sudden everyone is an expert on inflation. Your brother-in-law, your local paper, and even dilettantes at dubious outlets like the Washington Post or The Atlantic feel compelled to explain our current predicament. With the admitted rate of consumer inflation running somewhere around 8 percent, and the real rate much higher, even central bankers can’t hide the reality from us. So the commentariat has to explain to us why this is happening and make sure we blame the mysterious workings of capitalism for our troubles. In other words, economics is back. Covid was a nice diversion, and Ukraine...

Palm oil is used for cooking and for the production of thousands of consumer products, including biscuits, detergents, and lipsticks. In a video statement on Friday, Indonesian President Joko Widodo said the move was designed to bring down domestic palm-oil prices and ensure domestic food availability in the wake of global food inflation. Slippin’ into darkness! M2 Money stock YoY skyrocketed during the Covid mini-recession, peaking at 21% during February of 2021. The Dallas Fed manufacturing outlook grew to 38.1 in March 2021. However, as M2 Money growth has slowed 11%, the Dallas Fed manufacturing outlook has plunged to near zero. So, with the economy faltering (and REAL wage growth in negative territory), will The Fed reinstate its “Low Rider” interest rate policies? The US Treasury 10Y yield is down -12.5 basis points (never a good sign as investors buy Treasuries in a flight to safety). Crude oil is down below $100 again...

Vance. In both cases, Hawley is inserting himself into competitive primaries and backing candidates with notably anti-political establishment rhetoric and ideology. The Missouri Republican lavished praise on Masters in a statement to be released Monday,...

Over 2,000 GOP delegates and alternates gathered together today in Grand Rapids, MI, to cast critical votes for the next Republican Secretary of State and Attorney General candidates for the upcoming general election in November 2022. Both races were highly contentious, with two Trump-endorsed, grassroots election integrity candidates, Kristina Karamo for SOS and Constitutional Attorney Matt DePerno.
