However, there is a chance that the map will get overturned in court. Democrats, the American Civil Liberties Union of Kansas and the Campaign Legal Center have filed two lawsuits in state court alleging that the 3rd District’s new configuration is unfair and illegal. The Kansas Supreme Court may be sympathetic to the argument, since five of its seven members were appointed by Democratic governors.

Nkarta said Monday that two experimental, off-the-shelf treatments, both made from engineered natural killer cells, induced complete responses in patients with advanced forms of blood cancer. The results marked the first reveal of clinical data from its research programs. In one of the clinical trials, three of five patients with acute myeloid leukemia achieved complete remissions. Two of those patients showed no evidence of residual disease — the best response possible following treatment with the highest-tested dose of the Nkarta engineered natural killer, or NK, cells.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) released two ads in Arizona, in both English and Spanish, targeting vulnerable Democrat Sen. Mark Kelly, who is up for reelection this November. Kelly has attempted to sound moderate to Arizona voters on border policies heading into the midterms to differentiate himself from President Joe Biden. Both NRSC ads, however, point out that the Arizona senator’s voting record on the border and illegal immigration is in lockstep with the Biden administration’s legislative agenda. Kelly has voted on Biden-backed legislation 97 percent of the time since entering the Senate in 2021, which is mentioned in...

FBI Director Christpher Wray addressed the skyrocketing rate of murders against police officers Sunday, saying the surge is far outpacing general violent crime. Wray made the comments during a "60 Minutes" interview on Sunday, saying murders of police officers rose 59% in 2021. The total murder rate rose 29% last year, and the U.S. lost 73 police officers to such attacks in 2021. "Violence against law enforcement in this country is one of the biggest phenomena that I think doesn't get enough attention," Wray said, adding that officers are being murdered at a rate of nearly "one every five days."

The University of Waterloo has an opening for a tenure track position in geography, earth science, environmental science, or sustainability - but white men need not apply. According to a listing posted by the Canadian University last month, the position is only available to women, or 'qualified individuals who self-identify as women, transgender, non-binary, or two-spirit' - a gender-variant derived from Native American culture. Men, meanwhile, will not be considered, the school says - especially if they are white. The successful applicant would join the school's Natural Science and Engineering Research division in an Assistant Professor's role - a position...

WASHINGTON, April 25 (Reuters) - Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives welcomed reports that Twitter Inc (TWTR.N) is poised to agree to a sale to Elon Musk and called on the Tesla Inc (TSLA.O) chief executive to return former President Donald Trump to Twitter. "Hey, @elonmusk it's a great week to free @realDonaldTrump," tweeted the House Republican Conference, which currently represents 209 lawmakers. But a watchdog group, Media Matters for America, warned against exactly what some Republicans cheered. "There is still time for Twitter’s board to prevent some of the worst harms. Any negotiations to sell Twitter to Musk...

Joe Biden and other Green New Deal advocates continue to push for electric vehicles but without the necessary domestic supply of batteries. For now, the United States is dependent on the Chinese Communist Party for the necessary critical minerals and other elements needed to build them. The two most essential and expensive components of lithium-ion batteries, cathodes and anodes, are almost exclusively produced in China. According to Axios, the U.S. is behind Europe and China in its battery capabilities: Demand for batteries will skyrocket over the coming decades. If the U.S. wants to control its own energy destiny, it’ll need...

It should be $30 per hour," Parson tweeted.

ROME — The city of Bologna, Italy, has announced a pilot program to reward “virtuous” citizens for recycling, taking public transportation, and curbing energy usage. BALTIMORE — The Ever Forward returned Friday to the Seagirt Marine Terminal in Baltimore to pick up its containers. The ship ran aground on March 13 in the Chesapeake Bay after leaving Baltimore. The 1,095-foot vessel, which could fit three football fields end to end, did not move for 35 days. A couple of attempts in March failed to free the ship. Crews tried dredging and push/pull tugboat operations. Then, from April 9-16, hundreds of containers were off-loaded from the stuck ship so crews could try for a third time to refloat it, the Coast Guard said. Crews then refloated...

You can see it coalescing. Democrats know they are going to be slaughtered in the 2022 midterm elections, and they need to do something to stop the hemorrhage. One by one the stones fall into place as to how they plan on retaining control. It will take four steps. They need the pandemic. They need a crisis not to waste. Fauci wants the CDC to have the power to unilaterally control the country- above Congress, the President and the Supreme Court. Dr. Anthony Fauci took major heat after lamenting on Thursday that it was "disturbing" that a federal court would...

New research findings suggest that providers are poor predictors of patient satisfaction with anesthesia and perioperative comfort. Researchers discovered that only a low-level association was demonstrated between a patient and provider's satisfaction with anesthesia, even when individual measures of patient satisfaction such as pain and anxiety were isolated. Conscious anesthesia during ocular surgery is a common practice used to ease pain, discomfort and anxiety. However, there is a varying level of satisfaction among providers and patients about the effectiveness and purpose of anesthesia. Currently, there is no standard for the type or amount of anesthesia administered to a patient, so...

Does time exist? The answer to this question may seem obvious: Of course it does! Just look at a calendar or a clock. But developments in physics suggest the non-existence of time is an open possibility, and one that we should take seriously. How can that be, and what would it mean? It'll take a little while to explain, but don't worry: Even if time doesn't exist, our lives will go on as usual. A crisis in physics Physics is in crisis. For the past century or so, we have explained the Universe with two wildly successful physical theories: general...

The China-Solomon Islands security pact has triggered significant unease among the US and its Pacific allies. A US delegation openly warned the Solomon Islands’ government, saying any step to establish a permanent military presence by Beijing in the southern pacific nation would receive a strong response. Australia has issued a warning over the Solomon Islands-China security pact following significant efforts by the US and its allies to thwart the deal. On Monday, Defence Minister Peter Dutton said that Australia could only preserve peace by preparing for war. "The only way you can preserve peace is to prepare for war, and...
