US policy prepares to shut Mexican-American border to Ukrainian asylum seekers

Beginning Monday, the United States will launch a program welcoming Ukrainian refugees into the states but they will no longer be allowed in through Mexico. Instead, they will only be able to seek asylum through Europe.

In 2022, the United States government announced the expectation to receive 100,000 Ukrainians fleeing Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
