A popular plan to let the government directly negotiate lower prescription drug prices with pharmaceutical companies -- extracting significant savings for taxpayers and patients -- will likely not be part of the Democrats' sweeping social spending package, the White House said Thursday. The development dashed hopes for what many consumer advocates had considered the best chance in decades for immediate relief to families burdened by soaring costs of medication. It also marks a major victory for drug makers who have spent millions of dollars lobbying against direct government intervention in pricing. "Unless the government steps in and fights the fight...

A California school district president was caught on a hot mic saying disparaging comments to a parent after the mother had raised concerns over vaccination and mask mandates at a public board of education meeting. Marlys Davidson, BOE President of the Los Alamitos Unified School District in Southern California, couldn’t help herself when she let a “f–k you” slip out, directed towards “concerned parent” Lauren Roupoli after she argued against vaccinating children and school mask mandates. Roupoli was finishing up her fiery public comment when Davidson interrupted applause in support of her speech, informing her that her allotted time was...

McALESTER, Okla. (AP) — Oklahoma ended a six-year moratorium on executions Thursday, administering the death penalty on a man who convulsed and vomited as he was executed for the 1998 slaying of a prison cafeteria worker. John Marion Grant, 60, who was strapped to a gurney inside the execution chamber, began convulsing and vomiting after the first drug, the sedative midazolam, was administered. Several minutes later, two members of the execution team wiped the vomit from his face and neck. He was serving a 130-year prison sentence for several armed robberies when witnesses say he dragged prison cafeteria worker Gay...

As leaders in our newly “woke” military focus on transgender issues, climate change, and abandoning Americans in Afghanistan, some have also chosen to sidestep procedures and issue blanket denials of religious exemption requests for the Covid-19 injections that are being forced on all servicemembers. Independent journalist Liz Wheeler dropped the bombshell last night after obtaining documents showing the United States Navy has plans to deny all sailors who do not want the jabs based on sincerely felt religious objections. This goes against established protocols and subverts the rights of those who have legitimate concerns.

At the height of the outbreaks in the spring of 2020, U.S. meatpacking production fell to about 60% of normal as several major plants were forced to temporarily close for deep cleaning and safety upgrades or operated at slower speeds because of worker shortages. The report said companies were slow to take protective steps such as distributing protective equipment and installing barriers between work stations. The report is based on documents from JBS, Tyson Foods, Smithfield Foods, Cargill and National Beef. Together they control over 80% of the beef market and over 60% of the pork market nationwide.

Net of inventory accumulation, real GDP for the third quarter was slightly negative, US government data released Thursday morning show. Real GDP grew at an annual rate of 2%, below the forecasters’ consensus of 2.6%, the Commerce Department reported. But a jump in inventories added 2.07 percentage points annualized to GDP. That’s more than the reported growth. That’s a very odd number, considering that the inventory-to-sales ratio of US business stands at the lowest level on record, due to supply-chain constraints that prevent businesses from restocking. It’s likely that the inventory number was exaggerated. If that’s true, the US economy...

I currently work in for a government organization in Alberta, Canada. Vaxxes are required by November 1. The electronic forms for posting an 'exception' only became available last week. I was advised by my union today, that the 'religious exemptions standard was EXCEPTIONALLY high, and that based on what I told him, I would not get it. Please pray for me, that the Lord will let me either keep my job or get something that will allow me to continue working. As I usually have to work weekends and often miss Church, a different job, with no Sundays, would be...

WASHINGTON (TND) — A surgeon said he was fired after speaking up against a Minnesota school district’s new mask mandate for students, suggesting at a public school board meeting that families should make the decision whether to mask their children. “Who does God put in charge of these kids? Their parents,” Dr. Jeffrey Horak said at a Fergus Falls school-board meeting on Oct. 11. “God gave each one of these kids to their parents and they speak for them. They may be wrong, they may be dumb, they may be perfect in their decisions. But it’s still their responsibility. It’s...

— Despite impending regulations, surprise billing still happensOne day in March 2020, during the height of the pandemic, Melinda Wenner Moyer's daughter, Jojo, fell off her bike in the driveway and cut her forehead on a rock. After a quick consult with their primary care doctor, who said the 5-year-old needed stitches, and a trip to a nearby urgent care, which didn't think they could do the procedure without scarring, the mother and daughter set out for the emergency department. It was a 40-minute drive away, in Westchester, New York. They went to the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital's emergency room....

On Tuesday, a marketing and communications executive who lost his job at a North Carolina-based health care system and claimed it was because he was a white male was awarded $10 million by a federal jury. In his 2019 lawsuit, David Duvall argued that Novant Health’s diversity efforts led to him being replaced in July 2018. “The jury said that Duvall proved that his race and gender were motivating factors in Novant Health’s decision to terminate him, according to the jury’s verdict form. The jury also indicated that Novant Health failed to prove that it would have dismissed Duvall regardless...

“And I was once alive apart from the Law; but when the commandment came, sin became alive, and I died; and this commandment, which was to result in life, proved to result in death for me; for sin, taking opportunity through the commandment, deceived me, and through it killed me” (Romans 7:9-11). The law shatters all of man’s attempts at self-righteousness. The old saying “ignorance is bliss” is rarely true, and in the spiritual realm it is deadly. As a Pharisee, one of the rising stars of first-century Judaism (Gal. 1:14), Paul thought himself very much “alive apart from the...
