AU.S. drone strike against the Islamic State killed 10 civilians in Kabul, some of whom were children, according to news reports. The Washington Post reported early Monday morning that a single extended family was the victims of a nearby strike that occurred as the family was returning to their home Sunday afternoon. "Bodies were covered in blood and shrapnel, and some of the dead children were still inside the car," a neighbor told the outlet. U.S. Central Command says the strike targeted an Islamic State vehicle bomb that posed an "imminent" threat to the Kabul airport. "We are aware of...

Kabul, Afghanistan — The Taliban’s spokesman says the hardline Islamist group will crack down on Islamic State attacks and expects them to end once foreign forces leave the country. In an interview with AFP he said, “We hope that those Afghans who are influenced by IS… will give up their operations on seeing the formation of an Islamic government in the absence of foreigners.” In other words, the Taliban is happy to support those who wish to attack the US military inside Afghanistan and will let them continue to carry on. Only after President Joe Biden completes the surrender of...

Emily Miller — “There’s 7 buses of female American citizens. The CG refused to open the gate. We have a congressman with us and he had the state department reach out. MG Donahue refused. 10 minutes ago the females were taken by the Taliban. They are likely dead now.” “We’re dealing with Kabul. There’s 7 buses of female American citizens. A COVID-19 variant first detected in South Africa could be more infectious than other mutations – and may have the potential of being resistant to vaccines, according to a report. The C.1.2 strain has been linked to “increased transmissibility” and is said to have mutated the most from the original virus, which first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan, the Mirror reported. The strain has a mutation rate of about 41.8 mutations per year, almost double the global mutation rate seen in any other existing Variant of Concern, or VOC, according to experts at South Africa’s National Institute for...

The Wallace (Idaho) area is wealthy beyond its history of having the richest silver mines in the U.S., union strikes, mining disasters, its claim that it is the “center of the universe” and its scofflaw climate, which tolerated many human vices — bars, gambling and prostitution, to name a few. Almost nothing impacts the collective memory of the citizens as does June 23, 1991 — now regarded locally as “Black Sunday.” On that day, more than 150 federal, state and local law enforcement agents spread out along I-90 from west to east and raided every bar in Shoshone County from...

Now Biden is seeking to punish gun owners and at the same time chastise Russia by further banning the importation of firearms ammunition even as the country faces the greatest shortage of cartridges it has ever seen. “New and pending permit applications for the permanent importation of firearms and ammunition manufactured or located in Russia will be subject to a policy of denial,” the U.S. State Department announced last week. The start date for the “ban” would begin on September 7, 2021, while the sanctions are expected to be in place for a minimum of twelve months. The sanctions were...

President Joe Biden has repeatedly implied that his handlers set the rules and determine when and where he’s allowed to take questions from the press, leading observers to ponder who is actually calling the shots behind the scenes. The trend began with Biden’s first formal White House press conference as president in January. Following his remarks about his "Made in America" manufacturing initiative, a member of Biden's staff was heard calling on specific reporters to ask their questions to the president, something that was similarly done during the 2020 presidential election and the transition period. However, the president has since...

A nation of individuals recognizing no responsibilities towards others is on its way to collapse. The politicization of coronavirus vaccines and mask-wearing has been a depressing reminder of the downside of American individualism. The successful functioning of a free republic depends on people taking personal responsibility for their actions. Too often now that translates into a disregard for the rights of others, coupled with an insistence that our own opinions, even if they are founded on the shifting sands of rumor, must be given as much respect as any expert’s. Anti-maskers and anti-vaxxers (usually but not always the same people)...

He drove his red Camaro the wrong way down several streets, jumped a curb while doing a U-turn, narrowly missed several pedestrians as he drove down a sidewalk, struck an occupied car, and then plowed into the DIOR store’s 3,000-pound reinforced display window, prosecutors said. After causing $250,000 to $300,000 worth of damage to the boutique, he ran into the store and pulled the fire alarm before he tried to disarm one of the Chicago police officers who rushed in to arrest him, according to the allegations.

Students across the U.S. are starting another school year under a cloud of uncertainty as the delta strain of the coronavirus rips through the country, threatening to disrupt plans for a second consecutive academic year. The pandemic’s unpredictability has sparked high anxiety among children and teachers alike as they attempt to return to in-person school for the first time since March 2020, with lingering fears that COVID-19 could jeopardize educational routines again. The back-to-school season has left children and families with mixed feelings. Many are excited to return to in-person class after months of virtual learning, while some adults are...

Snip: Yellen also warned that not raising the debt limit would injure the economy in July. This issue was not addressed in the $5 trillion of spending pushed through last week. Newsweek reported in July: Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen warned members of Congress on Friday that if the debt ceiling is not raised, it will risk “irreparable harm to the U.S. economy and the livelihoods of all Americans,” according to the Daily Caller. In a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Yellen expressed that she did not know how long the Treasury Department could keep the United States from defaulting...

Minor but nagging question: WHO, what nations, are doing airlifts? How much? I saw a brief clip of a plane on FOX clearly with German insignia. I’m sure everyone is still trying to get their respective people out, but any idea on the magnitude of each?

According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and reported by MacRumors, the iPhone 13 may come with a feature which will allow you to place satellite calls using the smartphone. If this is true, users will be able to make calls and send messages in areas lacking connectivity.Traditionally, satellite phones allow you to place calls by radio through orbiting satellites instead of terrestrial cell sites, as cellphones do.One of the main advantages of using a satellite phone is its ability to place calls in most geographic locations on the Earth’s surface as the device is not limited to areas covered by...

Bank robbers strapped civilian hostages to the outside of their cars as human shields during a huge raid in Brazil that saw at least three people killed. Raiders attacked the local police headquarters and blocked roads into the city using burned-out cars to stop reinforcements from arriving, before kidnapping locals to use as human shields. Video shows how gunmen walked lines of hostages through the streets before strapping them...

President Joe Biden is under fire after appearing to look at his watch just seconds after a salute honoring the return of the 13 US servicemembers killed in Thursday's ISIS-K suicide bombing in Kabul. The president made the unannounced trip to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware on Sunday morning as the caskets of the 13 service members killed in the attack were brought back to the United States. He stood in silence, his right hand to his chest, as a succession of flag draped transfer coffins were carried past him from a C-17 Globemaster plane. But during the ceremony,...

My 16 year old has learning disabilities related to a genetic condition (nf). He took part in a double blind study of NAC over the summer at Cincinnati Childrens Hospital. We don't know if he got the drug or the placebo and we don't know the dosage. But he seemed to improve noticeably when he was doing the study and I am considering getting more NAC for him. Can anyone tell me what a good dosage would be? And what is a good source to buy from? Also I just saw a comment on FR that NAC was good to tinnitus....
