There is a thread in breaking news with almost 300 replies about how donations have slipped. And there are ideas there on how to raise money for Free Republic.

I hope the Robinsons read those responses and perhaps get some ideas on how to keep this site running.

Chris, I’ve been a dollar-a-day donor for a long time and it doesn’t reflect so on the donors list anymore, could you please fix it, thanks.

I don’t think I have seen any responses from the site owner and those running the site, about comments others have made in that thread, or what their plans are for the site.

I would suggest that, if they feel they could use some help to run the site, that they

create a 5 member board of directors, with 2 year/terms of service, with 2 starting with only 1 year, and 3 at 2 year terms so they overlap.

A two tiered set of moderators, a lower general one with powers to edit and censor comments, move threads from catagory to catagory, etc.

And a senior level tier council which have the power to review incidents, and vote to temp/permanent ban people

Define/redefine how the moderaton works - I have had threads with articles from mainstream sites posted under news, get moved to the chat or blogging catagory without explaination.

Also for day long or perceived important events, like Trump rallies, etc, I’ve tried to get them listed under breaking news, only to get the breaking news status removed.

So clearing some of these things up may also help

I was the one who created that thread. I honestly didn't know what kind of responses it would get but I saw a lot of good ideas shared and I'm glad folks responded as they did.

But like you said, I don't think any of the folks running FR responded at all. That's a shame, but then again, I know those folks have their lives to live out, and maybe FR isn't as important to them as it was to JimRob.

So I agree, perhaps some managerial changes need to be made so that the website gets the attention it needs to survive. Let's face it, there's only 3.5 days left in the current donation period and I honestly don't think they'll make their goal this time. I hope I'm wrong, cuz if I'm not then the trolls will have succeeded in destroying another website that was once dedicated to conservative and religious ideology.

It'll be interesting to see what happens after June 30th.

The goal won't be met but don't worry, this website isn't going anywhere. I think they are just getting what they can every freepathon and calling it good because most of what is brought in goes to the family. I'm only saying that because Jim himself said that to me and others several times and there is no plan on changing anything, he also said.

Chris is a recent newlywed and has another job, he's only here late into the FReepathon, so he let's his mods run things.

I've been Jim's FB admin for the past 6 years and Jim was always there if I had questions.

Chris doesn't reply to my or others FReepmails.

I have no inside info but fret about FR's future.

Yeah the freeper FB page is where Jim made the comments about the money coming in for freepathons was mostly for the family and how none of the money was being set aside for future upgrades and wouldn’t be. This was arond the time some years back when FR would crash on occasion. First we would link up at the Yahoo group then came Facebook.

Things change, life moves on and will to each dies and goes
to their eternal resting place. Jim has pasted on yet his
use/need for financial income is gone and others are or are
not runing the show.

IMO opinion which isn’t worth much but a few national type
commercial business may could help support with FR via some
type comercial ads for each of them. With a little redesign
they could be rotated and used as a income source.

Also the daily chat groups could encourage their members to
help support in differing ways that could help support FR. jmo

I'm not sure what is going on with my credit card payments. They're supposed to be automatic monthly but that seems like a problem.

I had an unauthorized and cancelled charge on that card that the card company caught today, I took a look at my charges and noticed the payment to Free Republic went through at the same time a credit for the same amount came from maverickpayment.com I've never heard of that entity before so I started going through older statements and find multiple missed payments to FR.

I'm not sure who is running the show, but now I've got to wait until I get the new credit card.
