President Joe Biden has repeatedly implied that his handlers set the rules and determine when and where he’s allowed to take questions from the press, leading observers to ponder who is actually calling the shots behind the scenes.
The trend began with Biden’s first formal White House press conference as president in January. Following his remarks about his "Made in America" manufacturing initiative, a member of Biden's staff was heard calling on specific reporters to ask their questions to the president, something that was similarly done during the 2020 presidential election and the transition period. However, the president has since escalated the practice and Biden has repeatedly suggested he’s not in the driver’s seat when it comes to handling the press.
"I’m not supposed to take any questions"
Biden declared Sunday he wasn’t "supposed to take any questions" during a visit to the National Response Coordination Center at FEMA headquarters as Hurricane Ida slammed Louisiana.
"I’m not supposed to take any questions, but go ahead," Biden said to a reporter before quickly changing his mind when he was asked about Afghanistan.
"I’m not gonna answer Afghanistan now," he said before turning his back to the press and walking away.

Trump would take offhand questions from the press, and they would almost always misinterpret what he said. But he had the guts to do it day after day.

Clearly he’s not in charge. He’s a puppet. his dementia is exposing that fact.
He’s not supposed to say it like that. He’s supposed to say “I won’t be taking any questions at this time” Be assertive and commanding. Don’t let the people see behind the curtain.
Senile Joe is not in charge of anything.
He is Obama’s meat puppet.
What are the chances that this is a cry for help?

This was obvious when Biden was hiding for office.
Reagan would never have said such a thing.
It would be nice if some of our vaunted press corps would ask the question:
“Mr. President, who ‘instructed’ you?”
Biden makes a terrible puppet because he keeps announcing that he is a puppet.
He said”the buck stops here.” Now it’s “the buck never got here,”
Can you imagine the outrage if Trump had done this?
He’s not in charge of anything.
The very fact that he is too stupid to recognize he should NEVER say “I’m not supposed to...” or “I’m going to get in trouble here...” or “I’ve been instructed to...” is extremely alarming. Anybody with a lick of common sense would know you DO NOT reveal that, but he blurts it out anyway.
It’s a sure sign of Alzheimer’s Disease that his restraint, ability to think on his feet, and his common sense are gone. Of course, he’s always been a victim of hoof-in-mouth disease.

You know it’s all kabuki theater shell because no reporter dares ask the real question “Are you [Biden] mentally competent to hold public office?”
When Joe was a second string senator and a second rate VP no one paid any attention to the drivel he spewed. Now as President his words are examined closely and he can’t be trusted to talk extemporaneously. Now he reads off a teleprompter or he doesn’t speak at all.
It’s too bad he doesn’t answer questions. The transcripts of his answers are quite entertaining (in a very sad way).
America’s resiliency is being tested.
Speaking of Made in America, there’s a commercial for the Grand Wagoneer with the spoken work saying “proudly assembled in Michigan.” But tiny text at the bottom says “from foreign parts.”
