We rightly criticize and condemn China for sending more than one million Uighurs – Muslims – to “re-education” camps. At the “camps” the Uighurs are “educated” in a process their Chinese elders describe as “washing brains, cleansing hearts, strengthening righteousness and eliminating evil.” Again, this is sick and wrong, a human rights abuse, something that should disgust us all. But we have our own, milder, version of “re-education” camps that indoctrinate, all for a supposed good, evolved cause. We call our re-education camps public schools. Here is one example, from Evanston, right outside of Chicago, of what first and second...

On Aug. 1, Benedictine monks moved into the emblematic Solignac Abbey in west-central France after a 230-year absence. It is the first time since the French Revolution that the Benedictines have returned to this historic Christian site, established by St. Eligius in the 7th century. This event, regarded as providential by local Catholics, does indeed have a symbolic significance, especially at a time when many religious buildings in France are left to decay, condemned to disappear or be bought for secular purposes. The monks’ return was recently announced by the Diocese of Limoges in a press release co-signed by local...

Wiretaps show Italian priest used cell phone apps for sex with teen boysPERUGIA, Italy (ChurchMilitant.com) - Italian paramilitary police have arrested a priest for "aggravated child prostitution" after electronic surveillance generated evidence of the homosexual cleric soliciting sex from underage boys "on a daily basis." Father Vincenzo Esposito, parish priest of San Feliciano in Magione, Perugia, over a hundred miles north of Rome, used digital phone applications like WhatsApp or Messenger to make sexual video calls to male minors from Termini Imerese and neighboring areas. The arrest has embarrassed the Conference of Italian Bishops (CEI) as its pro-gay president, Cdl....

Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban declared on Thursday that his country would bar LGBT+ activists from schools under a new law restricting promotion of homosexuality, despite pressure from the EU to rescind the legislation. In a post shared on his official Facebook page, Orban responded to the European Commission’s decision to open an inquiry into the country over the legislation that prohibits the promotion of homosexuality within schools. “The European Parliament and the European Commission want that we let LGBTQ activists and organisations into the kindergartens and schools. Hungary does not want that,” Orban said, standing by the legislation. Orban...

One of the greatest questions of our time, something truly unanswerable and impossible to imagine the consequences of, is: “what could possibly go wrong if I stick my hand into a big cat enclosure and taunt a jaguar?”. A man from Florida took it upon himself to decipher the riddle, and reportedly stuck his hand into the jaguar enclosure in Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens, Florida on August 3. The big cat responded as most big cats would when confronted with an uninvited stranger in its territory and clawed his arm, leaving behind a trail of blood and a wounded man,...

An Oklahoma County judge granted a preliminary injunction filed against Gov. Kevin Stitt, ordering him to reinstate the extension on the weekly $300 CARES Act federal unemployment benefits that he ended. Oklahoma County District Judge Anthony Bonner Jr. made the decision Friday in response to a lawsuit filed by Oklahomans against the state for ending the federal unemployment benefits early. Brendan McHugh, co-council for the petitioners, argued that some 74,000 Oklahomans are still relying on the extra $300 a week. Stitt said in May the added federal benefits were disincentivizing people from working. He announced federal benefits would end three...

A woman called out for George Washington and Abraham Lincoln as she was being arrested at the Fruitland Park Library. A staffer spotted 41-year-old Stephanie Doretha Rucker of Leesburg at the library Wednesday morning and remembered that she had been trespassed in December from the library. Instead of confronting Rucker, the staffer called the police. When Fruitland Park officers arrived on the scene, they attempted to take her into custody on a charge of trespassing. She said she “owned the library” and didn’t need “permission” to be there, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department. She...

Responding to questions from state lawmakers, Pennsylvania Acting Health Secretary Alison Beam said Friday there are no plans to implement a statewide masking requirement for students in schools. However, Beam stressed state officials are strongly recommending school districts decide on their own to have students wear masks in schools. Combined with vaccines and social distancing, Beam stressed masks can help reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19. The Senate Education Committee held a hearing in the state Capitol Friday afternoon on school policies, as COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations have risen in Pennsylvania and nationwide. The hearing again illustrated the tensions...

With the latest weekly update of container shipping rates showing that prices – already at all time high – simply refuse to back down, as rates from China to the US surpassing a record $20,000, a new threat looms which could send already sky high prices into orbit. As the delta variant spreads on the mainland, most Chinese ports are now requiring a Covid test for all crew, with vessels forced to remain at anchor until negative results are confirmed, and requiring ships to quarantine for 14-28 days if they previously berthed in India or changed crew within 14 days...

[Catholic Caucus] Schneider Has the Proof: Not A Single Infection Through RECEPTION of Holy CommunionIt is an episcopal abuse of power to impose grabbing Communion with the hand under the pretext of Covid-19, Bishop Schneider told Mia Barhouche in a French interview during a recent visit in Lebanon (video below).Schneider stresses that grabbing is not "safer" than receiving Holy Communion and doesn't protect better against a virus infection, on the contrary. In Kazakhstan, the bishops have only allowed receiving Holy Communion: “No one has been infected until now. Not a single case of a contamination.” Schneider calls this an “empirical...

Mitch McConnell is reportedly deeply concerned about a Georgia Senate bid from football star and longtime Trump pal Herschel Walker, fearing Walker’s potential campaign would fizzle and hand the seat over to Democrats for six years. McConnell is said to be considering Loeffler along with David Perdue, per CNN. The former Georgia Republican senator lost his seat to Democrat Jon Ossoff – who won’t have to defend himself until 2026 if he chooses to run again.
