In a confusing and contradictory-seeming passage, God gave the Old Testament patriarch Abraham the land of Canaan “for an everlasting possession” (Genesis 17:8, NKJV). You might think while reading this, “How could God promise Abraham’s descendants a permanent homeland? Surely Abraham must have known that the land in front of him wouldn’t last into eternity.” The New Testament even tells us that the world will be destroyed by fire, burnt completely out of existence, after which the Lord will bring about a new heaven and earth. Was this promise of an “everlasting possession” to Abraham some kind of trick? It...

“And if we have food and covering, with these we shall be content” (1 Timothy 6:8). God wants believers’ lives to be simplified, free from the burdens of material cares. Today’s verse declares how Christians ought to be free from material distractions. The apostle Paul asserts that life’s basic needs should be adequate to satisfy believers. He does not say it is wrong to own nice things, especially if God providentially allows you to have them. What is wrong is to have a selfish craving for money because you are discontent. The highest goal of the Christian life is to...

New York City’s Mayor Bill de Blasio has called for a COVID vaccine mandate for certain indoor facilities, like gyms and restaurants. You’ll be asked to present your papers upon entering. You know this was coming. At some point, some city, state, or locality was going to have a proof of vaccination ordinance. For city, state, or county workers, vaccine mandates are coming. Federal workers must be vaccinated or submit to mandatory testing. New mask mandates are back. It’s madness. And liberal America blames the vaccine hesitancy on Trump supporters. Is it really? Boston’s mayor ripped the Big Apple’s vaccine...

For almost three decades, 81-year-old David Lidstone has lived in the woods of New Hampshire along the Merrimack River in a small cabin adorned with solar panels. But his off-the-grid existence has been challenged in court by a property owner who says he's been squatting for all those years. And to make Lidstone's matters worse, his cabin was burned to the ground Wednesday in a blaze that local authorities are investigating.

The Church of Facebook is set to capture the human soul in silicon. On July 25, the New York Times reported that since 2017 the social media giant has quietly cultivated exclusive partnerships with select religious communities. As always, money is involved. While Facebook’s ultimate goals remain sealed behind non-disclosure agreements, the Times article does hint at things to come: “The company aims to become the virtual home for religious community, and wants churches, mosques, synagogues and others to embed their religious life into its platform, from hosting worship services and socializing more casually to soliciting money.”

The White House has been attacking Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis for weeks and has become increasingly aggressive over the past few days. Press Secretary Jen Psaki has regularly gone after DeSantis from the briefing room and during an event outside of the White House Thursday afternoon, President Joe Biden took a swipe by pretending not to know who DeSantis was. When asked to respond to the attacks during an event on Friday, DeSantis said he doesn't blame Biden for not remembering him. He then listed all of the issues Biden is failing to properly address. "I guess I'm not...

NASA said on Friday it is looking for a few good men and women to help it progress in its plan to go to send humans to Mars by 2037. The US space agency is seeking ‘highly motivated individuals’ to participate in year-long Mars surface simulation, where they will live a 1,700-square-foot module 3D-printed by ICON, called Mars Dune Alpha. The program consists of three simulations, with the first starting in 2022, and each will see four crew members spend the 365 days completely isolated in the mock habitats of the Red Planet. ‘The habitat will simulate the challenges of...

The Ohio Department of Health will not require its employees to receive a COVID-19 vaccine to return to the office, a spokeswoman said this week. Some employees are already working on-site at the department, mostly on hybrid schedules. More employees and departments will be “gradually phased in” to working on site, according to department spokeswoman Alicia Shoults. She didn’t respond when asked what percentage of its employees are vaccinated. Late last month, President Joe Biden issued an executive order requiring all federal government employees and on-site contractors to attest to their vaccination status. All unvaccinated employees must wear a mask...

The pause on federal student loan payments has been extended until January 31, 2022. The freeze was put in place at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 as the federal government worried millions of debt holders would default on loans due to job loss and the down turned economy. Education Department officials have extended the pause under the Biden administration and former President Trump’s administration several times. It most recently was set to expire September 30. The Biden administration said this is the final time they will extend the pause on repayment. “As our nation’s economy continues to...

In January of this year, the Democratic party took control of the United States Senate, giving them the Washington trifecta – control of the House, the Senate, and the White House. Barely six months later, Democrats are preparing for what is likely to be a devastating mid-terms for them. Don’t believe me? Well ask Democrats themselves. This week, Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY), the head of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, sounded the alarm bells in a closed door meeting of House Democrats. During a closed-door lunch last week with some of his most vulnerable incumbents, House Democrats’ campaign chief...

... it is not surprising that the CDC’s own recent conclusion on the use of nonpharmaceutical measures such as face masks in pandemic influenza, warned that scientific “evidence from 14 randomized controlled trials of these measures did not support a substantial effect on transmission…” Moreover, in the WHO’s 2019 guidance document on nonpharmaceutical public health measures in a pandemic, they reported as to face masks that “there is no evidence that this is effective in reducing transmission...” Similarly, in the fine print to a recent double-blind, double-masking simulation the CDC stated that “The findings of these simulations [supporting mask usage]...

So because of the CDC mandate for landlords to NOT evict people... What happens if the person who is not paying their rent is a either service member, a military contractor or a government employee? 3rd text: "No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law." We are NOT at war.... Even if we were, the CDC edict is NOT lawful anyways (prescribed by law). and this is certainly WITHOUT THE CONSENT OF THE OWNER!

Recently, the dissemination of misinformation has become an important global issue. While the spread of misinformation is not a new phenomenon, the emergence of social media platforms that connect networks of people, who often have similar opinions and cultural beliefs, has exacerbated and amplified this problem. Although misinformation is often associated with political campaigns, the public health community has not been exempted from its negative effects. Characterizing the spread of science- or health-related misinformation can allow for a more critical and evidence-based analysis of misinformation and inform risk communication strategies during public health emergencies. During infectious disease outbreaks, effective communication...
