President Joe Biden speaks at Sportrock Climbing Centers, Friday, May 28, 2021, in Alexandria, Va. (AP Photo/Evan Vucci) The Biden administration on Thursday sanctioned Cuban officials and the government’s special forces unit “The Boinas Negras” for human rights abuses amid unrest. “I unequivocally condemn the mass detentions and sham trials that are unjustly sentencing to prison those who dared to speak out in an effort to intimidate and threaten the Cuban people into silence,” said President Joe Biden. “The Cuban people have the same right to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly as all people. The United States stands with...

Sometimes people just come out and say what we all know to be true, even if some still pretend otherwise. Nikki Fried, a Democratic politician who is running for Florida governor and hopes to challenge Republican Ron DeSantis, tweeted this on Thursday: “Ron DeSantis has Fox News, but we have everyone else. Florida will be blue in 2022.” There it is. “We have everyone else.” Here’s a screen shot of the tweet in case it gets deleted. Now, we at the Media Research Center’s NewsBusters have known this for a while, but it’s not often that a Democrat will just...

In addition, 76 percent of the public believes it is “definitely or probably true” that it’s safer to get the vaccine than to become ill from COVID. The...

One in five COVID-19 cases over the past two weeks has been detected in Florida, a White House adviser said Thursday. Jeff Zients, the Biden administration’s coronavirus response coordinator, said that the Sunshine State accounted for around 20 percent of the entire country’s new confirmed cases. “For the second week in a row, one in five of all cases occurring in Florida alone — and within communities, these cases are primarily among unvaccinated people,” Zients said at a press briefing. Meanwhile, around 40 percent of new infections this week came from just three states — Florida, Texas and Missouri, Zients...

I took my nephew, Devon, to the hospital Sunday night, and we found that he has a serious case of Covid lung (Dr's words). He had been resting as comfortably as can be expected. Alert, responsive and aware of what was happening. He was using a BIPAP machine with a full face mask, and doing better. Until this morning. He apparently was struggling to breath more, so the Dr intubated him, and he is now has a ventilator breathing for him. I am praying that this will oxygenate his body sufficiently while it fights off the infection. Does anyone know...

A revamped version of the ride opened Friday at Disney's theme park in Anaheim, Calif. Disney previously announced the ride will also be redone at Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp has appointed a close ally of anti-Trump Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr to the Georgia Court of Appeals. Andrew Pinson, the new judge appointed by Kemp, is likely to hear any cases regarding potential election fraud, and due to his close relationship with Carr, is widely expected to throw them out. Now, Kemp is receiving even more push back from the grassroots, who are “fighting to uncover the lengths the Democrats went to steal the election,” as he appears to posture against a 2022 political cycle where he will be challenged by the pro-Trump wing of...

WASHINGTON—Sen. Amy Klobuchar introduced a bill Thursday that would strip online platforms such as Facebook Inc. and Twitter Inc. of liability protections if their technology spreads misinformation about coronavirus vaccines or other public-health emergencies. The bill, which Ms. Klobuchar (D., Minn.) has previously telegraphed was in the works, would create an exception to the law known as Section 230 that shields internet platforms from lawsuits for content generated by their users and other third parties. At a congressional hearing last year, Big Tech executives signaled cautious support for modifying Section 230, a provision in the 1996 Communications Decency Act that...

In response to sharp increases in violent crime, President Biden stressed again last week that his administration is focused on “stemming the flow of firearms used to commit violent crimes.” But critics warn that this “guns first” approach ignores a basic fact – about 92% of violent crimes in America do not involve firearms.

One of the most important principles of economics is that people respond to incentives. You get more of whatever you incentivize. You get less of whatever you disincentivize. This is irrefutable. The supplemental unemployment payment does both—it incentivizes people not to work, and simultaneously disincentivizes them from working. The number of people who have dropped out of the labor force in Colorado, those who are not actively seeking employment, remains near record highs even as open jobs go begging. Employers cannot find sufficient workers to restart their businesses, or to expand existing operations back to full capacity. They face higher...

In November 2018, NASA landed InSight on the Martian surface... Its mission, which was recently extended to 2022, is to listen for "marsquakes" and understand what's going on beneath the surface of our cosmic neighbor. In a series of three studies published in the journal Science on Thursday (22 July 2021), a global team of researchers describe the interior of Mars using data obtained by InSight's seismometer, an instrument that responds to vibrations and noise under Mars' surface. Analyzing a series of marsquakes, felt by InSight since 2019, researchers have been able to reveal the inner workings of another planet...
