Public health officials and government workers are trying everything they can to promote COVID-19 vaccination — advertisements, news releases, cash lotteries, and even incentives like free beer, joints or doughnuts in some places. But nothing sways a vaccine-hesitant person more than a word with a family member, friend or their own doctor, a new Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF) poll reveals.

A couple of weeks ago, word arrived that 120 new missile silos had been discovered in the desert of Northern China. While the press made much of this evidence that China is busy expanding its nuclear weapons program, they did not look at who found the silos and how he did it. As it happens, the silos were spotted by Decker Eveleth, an undergrad at Reed College. He spent weeks poking around on satellite imagery until he happened upon the silos’ distinctive inflatable dome coverings. (Which, in turn, has led some people to describe them as “bouncy houses of death.”)...

Notably, 25 F-22 raptors—a seemingly unprecedented number of its kind to deploy to the West Pacific—will join the drill from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, and...

Why did so many Americans receive strange packages they didn’t think they’d ordered?Sid miller, the Texas agriculture commissioner, sat atop his stallion Smokey and faced the camera. It was Saturday, August 1, 2020. Miller had a message to share. “Good morning, patriots,” Miller began, raising the coiled lasso in his right hand by way of greeting. “I don’t know about you, but I’m getting tired of all these surprises coming out of China. First it was the Chinese virus, then we had the murder hornets, then we had to close the embassy in Houston because of espionage … Now we’ve...

Cyber Ninjas, the cybersecurity consulting firm hired by Arizona Senate Republicans to oversee a partisan review of the 2020 election, on Thursday pushed a false narrative that Maricopa County received thousands of mail-in ballots that had no record of being sent out to voters. The firm’s CEO Doug Logan used the baseless claim to urge legislators to subpoena more records and canvass voters at home, grasping for evidence of fraud even as a hand count of a statistical sample of ballots and two post-election audits showed no proof of wrongdoing in Maricopa County’s election. The false claim has reverberated online...

Dr. Robert Malone, a pioneer in the field of mRNA vaccines, shared a viral Twitter thread on Friday which lays out a disturbing trend; the most-vaccinated countries in the world are experiencing a surge in COVID-19 cases, while the least-vaccinated countries are not."This is worrying me quite a bit," tweeted Malone, embedding the lengthy thread authored by Twitter user @holmenkollin (Corona Realism) via the 'thread reader' app.this is worrying me quite a bit.https://t.co/c3uwlLAeCr — Robert W Malone, MD (@RWMaloneMD) July 17, 2021Here's what has Malone worried: Also take a look at what went on in the 15 most vaccinated countries...

Data from a recently released study out of the UK, that uses data compiled from their Orwellian symptom-tracking app, shows vaccinated people account for almost half of the country’s new COVID cases. The experimental jab has been getting worse results as time progresses. Just a few months ago, only 25% of people who had received the shot caught the wu-flu afterwards, and that number has now risen to 47% according to the study. Not surprisingly, COVID cases are rising quickest among young people who are the least likely to get vaccinated due to their 99.5%+ recovery rate. Health officials who...

AbstractBackground There are limited antiviral options for the treatment of patients with COVID-19. Ivermectin (IVM), a macrocyclic lactone with a wide anti-parasitary spectrum, has shown potent activity against SARS-CoV-2 in vitro. This study aimed at assessing the antiviral effect of IVM on viral load of respiratory secretions and its relationship with drug concentrations in plasma. Methods Proof-of-concept, pilot, randomized, controlled, outcome-assessor blinded trial to evaluate antiviral activity of high-dose IVM in 45 COVID-19 hospitalized patients randomized in a 2:1 ratio to standard of care plus oral IVM at 0·6 mg/kg/day for 5 days versus standard of care in 4 hospitals...

The effectiveness of the Pfizer vaccine against the Delta variant is “weaker” than health officials had hoped, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said on Friday, as over 1,000 people tested positive for coronavirus and more countries were added to the list of places to which Israelis will be banned from traveling. “We do not know exactly to what degree the vaccine helps, but it is significantly less,” Bennett said.

The withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan signals the end of a war that involved close to 800,000 American service members. Defending against new threats will require the U.S. to replenish its all-volunteer force with fresh recruits — a task made harder by the dwindling number of Americans willing and able to serve. The U.S. currently has 1.3 million active-duty service members. Due to attrition and retirement, the military needs to find more than 150,000 new recruits every year to meet its overall “end strength” goal. In 2020, the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines all hit their annual recruitment...

At least four people were injured by the gunfire, police say, in a drive-by shooting outside of the park's third base gate. Two of the victims were transported to hospital via ambulance conscious and breathing. Another two walked into area hospitals to be treated for gunshot wounds. Their conditions are not known at this time. One of the victims appears to be a Nationals Park employee, NBC 10 reports.

Story at a glanceChristopher Murray said that vaccinated individuals may be contributing to the spread of COVID-19.As the delta variant becomes the most dominant strain, Murray posits that not testing vaccinated individuals may overlook possible transmission points.New data suggests that the delta variant may also be more resilient to the Pfizer vaccine. As some states report marked upticks in COVID-19 infections while the delta variant becomes the most common strain in the U.S., public health experts are encouraging further vaccinations to help curb transmission. Some experts, however, warn that vaccinated individuals may still be capable of contracting and transmitting COVID-19.Speaking to...

The Persecution Has Started: English Monastery Stops Celebrating Roman Mass Following Francis' Traditionis Custodes and instructions from Clifton Bishop Declan Lang, 71, England, the two Glastonbury Benedictines end celebrating the Roman Rite.Father Bede Rowe announced on his blog on July 17 that Saturday's 12.30pm Roman Mass at Glastonbury will be the last there.Until now, the community, which was erected by Bishop Lang in August 2019, sang the Divine Office and the Conventual Mass according to the Roman Rite, which St Benedict already knew. Watchers of COVID-19 repurposed drug trials are abuzz with the news that a sizable Egyptian trial sponsored by Benha University in Egypt is actually problematic. Why? It looks like a confluence of factors, from laziness and plagiarism to more than likely lack of resources and what appears to be a fraudulent misrepresentation of data, taint a widely cited study known as Elgazzar et al. TrialSite celebrates this moment. This is what this platform is all about—transparency is key, and one of the fundamental criticisms of some of the apex players in research evidence, from the U.S. National Institutes of Health...

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is one of the deep-blue cities that’s been priding itself in leading the charge against climate change for years now. Back in 2016, they decided to establish a position as an early adopter of electric vehicle technology on a large scale to reduce their carbon footprint. The city purchased 25 electric buses from a company called Protera at a staggering price tag of nearly one million dollars apiece and put them into operation. But barely four years later, every one of the buses had been pulled from service and is deemed unusable. What went so horribly wrong to...

Just a 2 minute break for a good laugh.

This is an abbreviated version of the excellent Epix Documentary. The linked page has links to Part 1 and Part 2 of this program. Highly recommended as an introduction or a refresher to the TWA 800 disaster. (Spoiler alert: It was a Navy missile.) ML/NJ

All thirteen members of the Texas Democratic Congressional Delegation are begging Joe Biden to meet with the fleebaggers. They sent a letter to Biden on Friday “imploring” him to grant them an audience. Senator Joe Manchin met with some of the Texas state Democrats on Thursday, a day before he headed down to Houston for a fundraiser. The host committee includes some big donor Republicans. Anyway, why hasn’t President Unity met with them? He delivered a whole speech focusing on voting rights this week, further dividing the country by calling election integrity laws being passed in some states with Republican...
