One of the earliest books I’ve read when I was a teenager with an interest in politics was Alexis de Toqueville’s “Democracy in America”. I didn’t understand all the concepts in the book at the time, but nevertheless, it was an interesting read to say the least. The key word in that book is democracy. One person was killed and three others, including a 15-year-old girl, were injured when shots rang out after midnight Monday in a crowded Walmart parking lot in upstate New York that police say was crowded with hundreds of people.
