With so much of the workforce going remote this past year, there has been a huge shift in the way many people view pet ownership. In fact, the national pet adoption rate jumped more than 30% at the beginning of the pandemic, and animal rescue organizations reported an overall increase in adoptions of 30 – 50% in 2020. Not only has the spread of remote work helped match pets to homes, but we know that animals have been shown to reduce stress and provide much needed comfort and social support to many workers during the pandemic. The shift to work-from-home...

BEIJING • China sued Australia yesterday over anti-dumping measures on some Chinese goods, further ratcheting up tensions between the two nations. Beijing has filed a lawsuit at the World Trade Organisation (WTO) over Australian anti-dumping and anti-subsidy measures on Chinese exports of railway wheels, wind towers and stainless steel sinks, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said. This would be the third recent WTO case between the two countries, after Australia sued over Chinese tariffs on wine and barley. Ties between the two sides have been worsening since 2018, when Australia barred Huawei Technologies from building its 5G network and Australian...

In a valiant effort to see who can descend furthest into educated imbecility, Brandeis University in Massachusetts created an “Oppressive Language List” to compel students to avoid uttering certain words that might oppress their fellow students. The list includes a host of words that it has deemed oppressive. The Prevention, Advocacy & Resource Center (PARC) is the entity that wasted time and money coming up with this new and creative way to stifle speech. On its website, it said: “PARC recognizes that language is a powerful tool used to perpetrate and perpetuate oppression.” “As a community, we strive to...

One of the most important stories of the year, so far, is the massive surge in Second Amendment sanctuaries at the state, county, and local levels, entirely ignored by liberal media. More than 61% of American Counties are Now Second Amendment Sanctuaries https://t.co/vm5gkNmBqg — Sanctuary Counties (@SanctuaryCounty) June 21, 2021According to Noah Davis of sanctuarycounties.com, "1,930 counties that are protected by Second Amendment Sanctuary legislation at either the state or county level... this represents 61.39% of all of the counties in the United States of America." Given the almost two years of immunity building related to the virus, the threat posed by COVID-19 at this point in time is virtually nonexistent. There never was a legitimate reasons for a single restriction on our liberties, and today, the “delta variant” argument to curb our rights and transform our society is more baseless than ever before.

A heat wave of unprecedented magnitude and duration is forecast to grip the Pacific Northwest this weekend and bring dangerously high temperatures that could make life miserable into next week for a region where air conditioning is not a fixture in most households. Triple-digit temperatures are forecast throughout parts of Oregon and Washington, which includes the Interstate 5 corridor. Both Portland, Oregon, which could see the mercury crack the 110-degree mark, and Seattle, which is expected to top 100, could experience temperatures around 30 to 40 degrees above normal and challenge daily record highs. Following a cooler stretch of weather,...

No matter how bad things get in this country, you can rest assured that we will always find a way to sink even lower. From the very lowest levels of society all the way to the very highest levels of society, the level of depravity that we are now witnessing all around us is absolutely stunning. At this point, most Americans do not have any sort of a solid moral foundation, and it shows. Everyone is just basically doing whatever seems right in their own eyes, and that has resulted in complete and utter chaos. We are a very, very...

President Joe Biden is teaming with anti-gun advocate George Soros and several other liberal groups in his bid to reduce violent crime by focusing on guns and legal gun sellers. Included in his plan is hosting meetings over the next 18 months in 15 high-crime cities where Soros’s Open Society Foundation and 12 other pro-gun-control groups will spell out “best practices” to help city leaders with the explosion of violence in their cities. A scan of the policies of those 13 groups shows that all are anti-gun and, like Biden, blame firearms for violence plaguing some cities. The list does...

President Joe Biden is still trying to paint the crime surge as a gun issue in order to redirect it toward gun control. He used his speech on Wednesday to focus far less on crime than on 'regurgitating the same tired gun-control talking points' that he and every other Democrat has trotted out for years. For Biden, this is just a pretext to try and finally gain traction for Democrats’ gun-control plans. If crime were the real issue, Biden would not be constantly pushing an “assault weapons” ban, when rifles of all types account for less than 4% of all...

Lumber futures on Chicago Mercantile Exchange have been nearly halved in a matter of a month to $879 per thousand board feet from the all-time high in May of around $1,711. The reason for the latest downdraft is because sawmills are boosting output and domestic production is increasing, catching up with demand. “High prevailing prices have already encouraged lumber mills to boost output, and we anticipate that domestic production will rise even further as labor shortages in the trucking and forestry sector dissipate,” Samuel Burman, assistant commodities economist at Capital Economics. Lumber, which is typically transported on one of three...

Harris whispered, "Florida, yeah," in Biden's ear as he prepared to walk away from his lectern after delivering remarks on the bipartisan infrastructure agreement at the White House. The president then returned to the microphone and delivered brief remarks on the tragedy that killed at least one individual and left nearly 100 missing. "I've spoken with, coincidentally, the mayor of Miami-Dade, was in my office yesterday — not about that, obviously — but I had a long discussion with her today," Biden stated.
