In videos called "The Lost Class," two pro-gun public speakers addressed 3,044 empty chairs representing gun violence victims. A gun violence prevention group has released videos in which they trick famous pro-gun figures into addressing a sea of empty chairs, representing children and teenagers who were shot and killed before they could graduate from high school. Change the Ref, a gun safety organization founded by Patricia and Manuel Oliver, whose son Joaquin was murdered in the Parkland, Florida, school shooting, released the videos Wednesday. As drone videos show sweeps of thousands of empty white seats, overlaid audio from 911 calls...

President Joe Biden has fired the head of the Federal Housing Finance Agency after the Supreme Court handed him the power to do so on Wednesday. Director Mark Calabria's firing will be effective at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, the Washington Examiner has learned. Calabria, a staunch free-market advocate, was appointed by President Donald Trump to lead the FHFA in 2019. The FHFA is the federal agency responsible for managing the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, also known as Freddie Mac, and the Federal National Mortgage Association, also known as Fannie Mae — meaning it has far-reaching power over mortgage markets....

At his general audience on Wednesday, Pope Francis warned against preachers who sow division and mistrust online. “There is no shortage of preachers who, especially through the new means of communication, can disturb communities. They present themselves not primarily to announce the Gospel of God who loves man in Jesus, Crucified and Risen, but to insist, as true ‘keepers of the truth,’ ... what is the best way to be Christians,” the pope said June 23. “And they strongly affirm that the true Christianity is the one they adhere to, often identified with certain forms of the past, and that...

A Tennessee nurse who admitted to mailing feces and a blood-stained feminine product to her husband's ex-wife is facing federal charges. Della Marie Gibson Lathum, 37, admitted to police in April that she mailed packages with human feces and a letter containing a bloody sanitary pad. The blood was from a patient at the Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville where Gibson was a registered nurse, she told police in a voluntary interview. The packages and letter were sent through the mail to Gibson's husband's ex-wife in Loudon County, who Gibson had allegedly been stalking and harassing for months. She told...

President Joe Biden delivered remarks Wednesday on the administration’s strategy to prevent gun crimes across the country when he said there is “a range of programs” he believes are needed to keep Americans from pulling the trigger. A reporter asked Biden what he feels would be the “most effective thing that government can do to change the mindset of those who feel compelled to pull the triggers” of guns. Biden said in response to the question that one could hope to change the mindset of people by “being engaged in a whole range of programs.” He continued to say that...

It's been over a month since the CDC finally got with the science and updated their guidelines to acknowledge that those who have been fully vaccinated do not need to wear masks indoors. And yet many still remain hesitant to accept that, as shown by polls which Matt and I have highlighted. A new poll from the Monmouth University Polling Institute released on Wednesday reflects such paranoia as well. The headline chooses to highlight how "Covid Illness Anxiety Plummets Amid Some Unease Over Low Vax Rate." That anxiety, the poll write-up mentions, "stands at its lowest level since the pandemic...

The nation scrambled to buy F-15s and nuclear weapons after President Biden said in a speech Wednesday that you'll never beat a government unless you have the fighter jets and intercontinental ballistic missiles. All over the nation, American citizens were seen parking their brand-new F-15s in their driveways and garages. Some wealthier Americans purchased the F-22, while less fortunate citizens were forced to buy the F-35 joint fighter. But no matter what craft they chose, American citizens said they were just glad to finally be protected against a tyrannical government."I need an F-15 to beat the government? Say no more, fam!"...

“Then the commissioners and satraps began trying to find a ground of accusation against Daniel in regard to government affairs; but they could find no ground of accusation or evidence of corruption, inasmuch as he was faithful, and no negligence or corruption was to be found in him. Then these men said, ‘We shall not find any ground of accusation against this Daniel unless we find it against him with regard to the law of his God’” (Daniel 6:4-5). Live so as to silence your critics. Whenever God exalts a righteous person, there will be those who are jealous and...

During a news conference on Wednesday about expanded mental health services in schools, Governor Kim Reynolds also addressed the Iowa Judge that blocked her controversial 2020 abortion legislation, saying she plans to appeal. The legislation would impose a 24 hour waiting period for abortions. An Iowa judge ruled the law violated an Iowa Supreme Court decision in 2018 that had protected rights. In 2018, the Court struck down a 72-hour waiting period for an abortion, ruling it violated the Iowa Constitution, siding with a lawsuit filed by Planned Parenthood and the ACLU. "I absolutely don't agree with the decision and...

Jesus tells us, “You are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14, NKJV). His statement here is about much more than just doing ministry. It extends beyond teaching, preaching or passing out tracts. Christ tells us very plainly, “You are the light.” He’s saying, “You are not just a reflection. You’re not a mere conduit. You are a light, and the intensity of your light depends upon the intensity of your walk with me.” Do you see what the Lord is implying here? The world recognizes those who walk closely with him. Your neighbors or coworkers may not know about...

Scientists have found an innovative approach to combat the global plastic waste crisis and make something sweeter in the process. To meet the demands for vanillin, the primary component of vanilla bean extract, and reduce plastic waste, researchers are converting plastic into vanilla flavoring using genetically engineered bacteria, according to a new study published in Green Chemistry. This study marks the first time researchers brewed up a "valuable" chemical compound from plastic waste, reports Damian Carrington for the Guardian. "This is the first example of using a biological system to upcycle plastic waste into a valuable industrial chemical and this...

So if Eric Adams avoids a ranked-choice reversal, hangs on to his primary day lead and becomes mayor Jan. 1, he won’t be able to do anything about violent crime anyway. According to a growing lefty orthodoxy, nope. Not a chance. Crime is simply beyond the control of mayors — because, you know, guns or something. Plus root causes. Don’t forget them. Of course, this is pernicious nonsense — ahistorical, counter-intuitive and patronizing in the extreme. You’d have to be a moron to believe it — but the line has utility to those who hate vigorous law enforcement; to failures...

Progressive candidate Ubax Gardheere is running for the King County Council in the Seattle, Washington area and has been endorsed by some local Democratic officials, including state Senator Rebecca Saldana, who said she "would follow Ubax anywhere." However, in 2010, Gardheere faced felony charges after she boarded a Highline School District bus making its morning rounds and demanded the driver inform his dispatch "that a national security incident was going on," according to court documents reviewed by Fox News. After demanding the driver send her message to dispatch, Gardheere – who is today the director of the Equitable Development Division...

House Bill 1300, approved along party lines by a margin of 112-89 on Tuesday, provides for “voting system defects, disclosure, investigations and penalties” and establishes the “Bureau of Election Audits,” among other things. However, upon initial review of the large bill, it does not contain anything that would prevent the type of hanky panky that Pennsylvanians experienced in November, 2020.

“This isn’t the first time Biden’s warned the gov’t would use every weapon in its arsenal against Americans,” quipped Tom Elliott, remembering how Biden said something like this at a rally early last year. Maybe the Second Amendment should be extended to include F-15s. Seriously, though, this dumb gun-control talking point is deathless even though it’s never been clearer how untrue it is. There are many lessons to be learned from America’s adventure in Afghanistan but an easy one is that a crudely equipped force using guerrilla tactics is fully capable of prevailing over one with superior firepower. That lesson...
