During a news conference on Wednesday about expanded mental health services in schools, Governor Kim Reynolds also addressed the Iowa Judge that blocked her controversial 2020 abortion legislation, saying she plans to appeal.
The legislation would impose a 24 hour waiting period for abortions.
An Iowa judge ruled the law violated an Iowa Supreme Court decision in 2018 that had protected rights. In 2018, the Court struck down a 72-hour waiting period for an abortion, ruling it violated the Iowa Constitution, siding with a lawsuit filed by Planned Parenthood and the ACLU.
"I absolutely don't agree with the decision and that's what the process is for," Reynolds said. "We will appeal the decision, and we are pretty confident that we can get the outcome we are looking for."
