Dynamic mRNA modifications, summarized as the epitranscriptome, regulate transcript maturation, translation and decay, and thus crucially determine gene expression beyond primary transcription regulation. However, the extent of this regulation in the healthy and maladapted adult brain is poorly understood. Analyzing this novel layer of gene expression control in addition to epigenetics and posttranslational regulation of proteins will be highly relevant for understanding the molecular underpinnings of behavior and psychiatric disorders.

The brute fact is that the GOP today—unlike its original incarnation—has no rootedness in any specific moral conception of political life. It is an unmoored, mercenary instrument for hire. By Tal Bachman May 14, 2021 Once upon a time, the Republican Party didn’t suck. Actually, there were lots of times it didn’t suck. It didn’t suck when, at its founding in the late 1850s, it declared slavery an inhumane, barbaric practice, and eventually ended it. It didn’t suck when it ended repressive and predatory Mormon polygamy a few decades later. It didn’t suck when it declared late 19th-century corporate monopolies...

Joe Biden delivered a commencement address at the US Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut on Wednesday. After blasting the cadets for not clapping like seals, Joe Biden cited mass murderer Mao Tse Tung to inspire the young men. Mao Tse Tung, a Communist dictator, murdered up to 70 to 80 million Chinese last century, according to most accounts. Biden bragged about promoting women to leadership roles in the US military when he dropped his favorite quote from Mao ‘women hold up half the sky.’

The court heard the case of a mother attempting to prevent her 17-year-old daughter from having surgery to remove her breasts. The daughter wanted to transition to the male gender, and provincial authorities supported her wish. The mother still regarded her daughter as a female. The question of her gender transition was the very issue before the court. Yet when the mother and her counsel referred to the daughter as “her,” the judge challenged the mother’s right to do so. In the UK, they have a similar pronoun practice direction. Recently, a complainant of an assault was repeatedly told by...

"It's a shame that in 2021, the City Hall press corps is overwhelmingly White in a city where more than half of the city identifies as Black, Latino, AAPI or Native American." Lightfoot called the racial make-up of the City Hall press corps "an imbalance that needs to change," adding that Chicago's local media "should reflect the multiple cultures that comprise it." Chicago Tribune reporter Gregory Pratt was among those disagreeing with the policy. "I am a Latino reporter @chicagotribune whose interview request was granted for today," Pratt tweeted. "However, I asked the mayor’s office to lift its condition on...

Rarely does such and excellent opportunity arise to identify the DeceptiCon members in the House. That opportunity exists right now. ♦STEP ONE – Force the full House to vote on their support of the politically motivated “January 6th Commission.” ♦STEP TWO – Identify the Republicans who go along with the leftist intent. ♦STEP THREE – Primary every single one of those Republican House members in 2022. WASHINGTON DC – A substantial bloc of House Republicans is expected to vote with Democrats on Wednesday to authorize a bipartisan commission to investigate the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol despite GOP...

The Biden administration plans to scrap the sanctions on the Russian company responsible for the pipeline, despite initial signals that they would not. During his Senate confirmation hearing, Secretary of State Antony Blinken told senators he is “determined to do whatever we can to prevent that completion” of the pipeline. The national defense bill signed by Trump in 2019 included legislation to level sanctions on companies laying pipe for the project. Several Republican Senators, such as Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), continue opposing the pipeline’s construction, as it would give Russian President Vladimir Putin a major economic victory in the region...

The NBA continues to suffer ratings disasters, with ABC falling 45 percent since the 2011-12 season, TNT down 40 percent, and ESPN off 20 percent. It was reported that in May the NBA lost 13 percent over the “bubble” coronavirus season, and when headed into the final week of the 2020/2021 season, the ratings for ESPN, ABC, and TNT’s broadcasts were all down roughly 13 percent over the 2019/2020 season — the latter of which included the games in the NBA “bubble.” But a loss of only 13 percent year-over-year does not really tell the whole tale. To see how...

EXCLUSIVE: Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee say there is "significant circumstantial evidence" that the COVID-19 outbreak stemmed from a leak at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, urging the federal government to put "more pressure on China" to allow for a "full, credible investigation" into the source of the global pandemic. Republicans pointed to China’s "history of research lab leaks resulting in infections," and warnings from U.S. diplomats in China as early as 2017 that the Wuhan lab was conducting "dangerous research" on coronaviruses without following "necessary safety protocols, risking the accidental outbreak of a pandemic."

Like most celebrities, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) doesn't always play by the rules. Sources inform the Washington Free Beacon that the socialist congresswoman's white Tesla was parked illegally outside the Whole Foods near her posh apartment complex in Washington, D.C. Ocasio-Cortez's office did not immediately return a request for comment on the parking scandal. There is more than sufficient evidence, however, to conclude that the illegally parked white Tesla belongs to her. The car in the following photographs, taken May 14, had a New York license plate and a congressional parking pass on the dashboard. The Free Beacon has...

Any day is a good day to celebrate the achievements of Alabama Football. The offseason is the most opportune time, with little attention drawn by a future game and a need to fill the long interval with Crimson Tide wonderings. Alabama football fans frequently speculate on Nick Saban’s eventual successor. As in not a replacement because no coach can ever replace Nick Saban. Tide fans discuss who might be worthy of following Saban and how far the Crimson Tide might fall when it happens. Instead of those conjectures, this post is about what Nick Saban has already done. Both in...

WASHINGTON -- Republicans are rebelling against the requirement that they wear a mask on the House floor, stoking tensions with majority Democrats who are refusing to change the rules following updated guidance from federal health officials. Some GOP lawmakers opted to keep their masks off during votes Tuesday, with a few taking particular care to stand in the well of the chamber to ensure that spectators, colleagues and C-SPAN’s cameras could not miss them. Their defiance could come at a financial cost. Lawmakers who refuse to wear masks are subject to a fine of $500 for the first offense. Subsequent...

Palestinian terrorists are bombarding their own people, as 700 of the rockets fired from Gaza by Hamas and other terror groups — some 20% of the total — land in Gaza, often killing innocent Palestinian civilians whose deaths are wrongly blamed on Israel. The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) concluded Wednesday that an airstrike on the first day of fighting that killed a family of eight in the Beit Hanoun area was not an Israeli operation, but a Palestinian rocket gone awry, a frequent occurrence in the ongoing war.

Former President Trump is expected to resume his signature rallies in June, an adviser confirmed, the latest sign of him becoming increasingly visible and ramping up political activity since leaving office in January. The New York Post and Daily Mail first reported on tentative plans for the rallies, which are expected to include two appearances in June and one at the beginning of July. The events are likely to be similar to the airport rallies that Trump held last year as he campaigned for reelection during the coronavirus pandemic. The events have not been formally announced.

35 House Republicans on Wednesday voted with Democrats in favor of a bill to create a commission to investigate the Jan. 6 attack, a significant break from GOP leadership, which urged members to vote against the bill. The list includes all 10 Republicans who voted to impeach Trump in January, as well as a number of members of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus, which endorsed the bill. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy spoke out against the bill on Monday, alleging the commission wouldn’t be able to probe political violence beyond Jan. 6.

CEO and Editor in Chief of Star News Digital Media, Michael Patrick Leahy, joined Steve Bannon on The War Room on Wednesday morning.
