A woman who sat as an alternate on the jury that found Derek Chauvin guilty in George Floyd's murder is speaking out about what it was like to parse through nearly three weeks of testimony in the former Minneapolis officer's high-profile trial. Brooklyn Center resident Lisa Christensen told KARE 11's Lou Raguse about her role on the jury, as another police killing unfolded in her neighborhood. Christensen, who lives in the city where a white officer shot and killed a 20-year-old Black man during a traffic stop this month, said that if she had been part of deliberations, she would've...

It’s been a month and a half since Texas Governor Gregg Abbott gave the left heart palpitations by eliminating the state’s mask mandate and most other virus restrictions. So, according to liberals, there must be dead bodies in the streets and jam-packed hospitals full of sick and dying patients in Texas, right?President Joe Biden said the governor’s decision reflected “Neanderthal thinking.” Gilberto Hinojosa, chairman of the Texas Democratic Party, said it was “extraordinarily dangerous” and “will kill Texans.” The national media ridiculed Abbott and Texas as a bunch of rubes who deserved whatever they got.Meanwhile, new cases of COVID-19 have dropped...

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is “looking at” whether people should continue to wear masks outdoors amid the pandemic. “This is a question that we’re looking at,” CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said on the “Today” show when asked about the matter. “One of the things I think that’s really important to understand is, while there’s wonderful news and we’re getting more and more people vaccinated every single day, we still had 57,000 cases of COVID yesterday, we still had 733 deaths. “And so now, we are really trying to scale up vaccination. We have this complex...

It is approximately 110 miles between Columbus, Ohio, and Cincinnati, Ohio. But apparently, news travels slowly between those two communities because LeBron James and the national media have not yet mentioned Monday’s death of 13-year-old Nyaira Givens who was stabbed to death by another 13-year-old girl during a fight near her family’s home in Winton Hills, a suburb of Cincinnati. Joy Reid’s producers need to reach out to Mr. Jackson in Cincinnati and invite him to be a guest on her show. Bring back Prof. Cooper — Mr. Jackson might have a different perspective to offer about “young black girls.”...

For the second straight year, the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner has been canceled due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. In a statement Wednesday, the leadership of the White House Correspondents’ Association wrote that they “have worked through any number of scenarios over the last several months, but to put it plainly: while improving rapidly, the COVID-19 landscape is just not at a place where we could make the necessary decisions to go ahead with such a large indoor event.” In a statement Wednesday, the leadership of the White House Correspondents’ Association wrote that they “have worked through any number...

Thursday, ESPN “First Take” co-host Max Kellerman defended Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James for his now-deleted “YOU’RE NEXT” tweet in response to the Ma’Khia Bryant shooting in Columbus, OH. Although Kellerman acknowledged James jumped the gun in his tweet showing the image of the police officer involved, he said it “obviously” was not a call for violence. He added that politicians who are accusing James of inciting violence are either “stupid or corrupt.” “First of all, LeBron’s tweet, let me be very clear about this, obviously means to anyone with even a below-average I.Q. and any semblance of education...

Ma'Khia Bryant and two other young women argued over a messy house and unmade bed before a fight that ended with the fatal police shooting shooting of the Black teenager, the woman who cared for Ma'Khia in foster care said Thursday. Angela Moore said two of her former foster children had come to her Columbus, Ohio, home Tuesday to celebrate her birthday when the young women and Ma'Khia bickered over housekeeping. "It was over keeping the house clean," Moore said. "The older one told them to clean up the house because 'Mom doesn't like the house dirty,'" Moore recalled being...

Early last month, Texas governor Greg Abbott announced he would end the state’s mask mandate and allow most businesses to function at 100 percent capacity. The response from the corporate media and the Left was predictable. California governor Gavin Newsom declared the move “absolutely reckless.” Beto O’Rourke called the GOP a “cult of death.” Joe Biden called the move “Neanderthal thinking.” Keith Olbermann insisted, “Texas has decided to join the side of the virus” and suggested Texans shouldn’t be allowed to take the covid vaccine. Vanity Fair ran an article with the title “Republican Governors Celebrate COVID Anniversary with Bold...

As a parent in the Central Bucks County School District, I became worried about my children’s future as I watched them struggle with remote learning after the district closed down due to Covid-19. When the local public health director came out with new guidance in the summer saying that kids could safely attend school in-person, I was elated, as were hundreds of other parents. But then the superintendent backtracked and said schools wouldn’t reopen in the fall. Controversy erupted. The health director was maligned in the press, and families were left wondering when or if things would ever return to...

Chinese government officials and state-controlled media agencies have recently ramped up their rhetoric against the United States on the issue of climate change, portraying the U.S. as not doing enough to limit greenhouse emissions even though China is by far the world’s biggest polluter. One shot fired in the propaganda war came this week in the form of an interview that CGTN America, the U.S. affiliate of the Beijing-controlled China Central Television (CCTV), conducted with retired Army Lt. General Russel Honoré.

A nonprofit organization that was given an $87 million federal contract to house migrant families temporarily in hotels is asking for donations to fly those families to their destinations across the country. Spending any charitable donations could expose the organization, Family Endeavors, to legal problems while it is responsible for holding tens of thousands of children and families in Arizona and Texas over the next six months, according to two lawyers who are experts on government oversight matters. Family Endeavors last month won an $87 million contract from Immigration and Customs Enforcement that other companies were not permitted to bid...

The Minneapolis City Council’s Public Health and Safety Committee wanted to discuss the use of less-lethal weapons by the Minneapolis Police Department, but the city attorney’s office advised against discussing the issue publicly because the city is facing several lawsuits related to the use of less-lethal munitions. Less-lethal weapons include projectiles such as rubber bullets, beanbags and tear gas canisters. Despite the concerns of the city attorney’s office, several City Council members discussed a recent University of Minnesota study of the use of less-lethal weapons during the civil unrest following the murder of George Floyd last year. The U of...

This Sunday, the 93rd Academy Awards will finally be staged, roughly two months later than usual due to Covid protocols, and that viral scourge is leading to an odd decision for an event that usually is known for its oddities. Take that foundation, place it in California, and roll in the pandemic and we are assured of seeing some strange behavior. Last year’s ceremony went off just prior to the outbreak and the shutdown of the country, so the celebrities were not involved in the practice of Covid couture. Sunday, however, we are sure to see many a luminary resplendent...
