Two-hundred sixty-one California state prisoners have requested transfers to facilities that house the opposite gender since a new law went into effect on Jan. 1 — and 255 of them have requested to move from a male to a female corrections facility. The law, SB 132, provides that a prisoner who self-identifies who is “transgender, nonbinary, or intersex” must be “addressed in a manner consistent with the incarcerated individual’s gender identity,” and be “housed at a correctional facility designated for men or women based on the individual’s preference.” The law applies “regardless of anatomy.” Governor Gavin Newsom signed the law...

Facebook, which routinely adds its editorial comments to posts with which it disagrees, recently "fact-checked" a woman's complaint about her reaction to a coronavirus vaccine. Desiree Penrod, 25, said on Facebook after getting vaccinated in early March: "The vaccine is killing me today. My arm hurts, beyond exhausted, headache, stomach cramps and earaches." Penrod also posted: "Multiple people told me that I looked pale today. Yesterday, I was fine but today it's taking its toll on me." Facebook, citing the World Health Organization, added a disclaimer to a post by Penrose, "COVID-19 vaccines go through many tests for safety and...

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) called on Americans to boycott Major League Baseball for attacking Georgia’s election laws while doing business in China. On Tuesday, the Kentucky senator said Americans must boycott each and every company that attacks laws meant to uphold the integrity of U.S. elections. He explained that while MLB is attacking Americans fighting for voter integrity, they’re cozying up with the Chinese Communist Party. He pointed to the lavish new contract between MLB and the Chinese firm Tencent, which was signed last week. Paul’s remarks are supported by President Trump and millions of Americans. “Delta Airlines also has...

The man accused of trying to extort $25 million from Rep. Matt Gaetz’s family admitted Monday that he asked the congressman’s dad for cash — but denied that it was a shakedown. Bob Kent, an ex-Air Force intelligence officer, confirmed to Sirius Radio host Michael Smerconish that he approached the Florida Republican’s dad, Don Gaetz, for money last month. The funds, Kent said, were to pay for an effort to free Robert Levinson, a former FBI agent who disappeared in Iran in 2007, and is believed to be dead. Kent claimed he has video evidence that Levinson is still alive...

Many Portland, Oregon Police officers and supervisors left the state’s largest police force over the last year by taking early retirement or by quitting, according to The Oregonian. City employees who turned in their badges or retired were brutally honest about their reasons for getting out. "The community shows zero support. The city council are raging idiots, in addition to being stupid. Additionally, the mayor and council ignore facts on crime and policing in favor of radical leftist and anarchists’ fantasy. What’s worse is ppb command (Lt. and above) is arrogantly incompetent and cowardly," one retiring detective wrote, reports the...

An oversight board created to scrutinize research that would enhance highly dangerous pathogens did not review a National Institutes of Health grant that funded a lab in Wuhan, China, to genetically modify bat-based coronaviruses. Experts say the NIH grant describes scientists as conducting gain-of-function research, a risky area of study that, in this case, made SARS-like viruses even more contagious. Federal funding for gain-of-function research was suspended temporarily in 2014 due to widespread scientific concerns it risked leaking supercharged viruses into the human population. Federal funding for gain-of-function research was resumed in late 2017 after the Potential Pandemic Pathogens Control...

...In the 19th century it was nationalism. In the 20th, communism and fascism. In the 21st woke cultural nihilism is the dominant confession, and a fanatical one. The modern secularists who deride the hagridden mysticism of traditional religion are now the most devoted congregants in the First Church of Antiracism. Penitents line up to be shriven for their white privilege, bending the knee before the altar of justice and equity. They present pendants of the martyred St. George of Minneapolis for blessing from Hollywood prelates and Ivy League divines, solemnly chanting canticles from the Black Lives Matter breviary. ...But to...
