The man accused of trying to extort $25 million from Rep. Matt Gaetz’s family admitted Monday that he asked the congressman’s dad for cash — but denied that it was a shakedown.
Bob Kent, an ex-Air Force intelligence officer, confirmed to Sirius Radio host Michael Smerconish that he approached the Florida Republican’s dad, Don Gaetz, for money last month.
The funds, Kent said, were to pay for an effort to free Robert Levinson, a former FBI agent who disappeared in Iran in 2007, and is believed to be dead. Kent claimed he has video evidence that Levinson is still alive and is being held hostage.
Kent said he met Don Gaetz, a wealthy former Florida politician, at his office on March 17 — and told him his son was having “legal issues” and might want to “generate good will” by helping with the rescue effort.

But the Extortion racket is where the action is. How did Bob Kent “know” that DOJ was investigating? Why did he try to entrap Gaetz’s father? What’s on the tapes that the FBI has? How involved is Lynn Cheney is this “let’s get Gaetz out” scheme?
This is rich ground, and we throw it all away if we shrug and say “She was 17 years old??????? Let’s side with the Democrats on this one!!!”
I never said I believed Gaetz was guilty of anything. My interest has been in unraveling this bizarre plan to ask Gaetz' father for money and then give his son Matt the glory.
The questions for me are who is Stephen Alford and when did he and Kent learn Gaetz was under investigation and how did they come up with this convoluted plan? And why did they believe giving Matt the glory would 'leverage' help and money from Gaetz' father?
Who is Stephen Alford? What did he know and when did he know it? Who thought of this plan?

Who is Alford? When and how did he meet Bob Kent? Who knew about the Gaetz investigation first (Alford or Kent) and when did they find out about it?
Was Alford setting-up Kent as a patsy with this convoluted plan?
Specifically, he asked that the money be paid in small, used, un-marked bills, and that on no account were the serial numbers to be in sequence. And no ink-bombs!
