Usually, three brushes with the law can invoke serious punishment. Not for Caroline Biden, 33, who is the niece of presumptive President-elect Joe Biden. On Dec. 3, she pleaded to a charge of driving under the influence and driving without a license after she slammed her car into a tree in Pennsylvania in August 2019. According to the New York Post, the official record of her case says she faced “confinement” that could range from 20 days to six months. But Biden, 33, won’t actually be locked up, the Post reported. She instead faces five-plus months of probation, according to...

Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Brian Hagedorn, a conservative, explained his ruling against a contest-of-election lawsuit brought in the state by President Donald Trump’s campaign. In an interview with The New York Times on Friday, Hagedorn said he found nothing in the law or the evidence presented in the case that would have allowed Trump to win the lawsuit.A narrowly divided Wisconsin Supreme Court on Dec. 14 rejected Trump’s lawsuit challenging the election results in the battleground state about an hour before the Electoral College cast Wisconsin’s 10 votes for Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. In the 4-3 ruling, the court’s three...

WASHINGTON (AP) — The $900 billion economic relief package that emerged from Congress over the weekend will deliver vital aid to millions of households and businesses that have been struggling for months to survive. Yet with the economy still in the grip of a pandemic that has increasingly tightened curbs on business activity, more federal support will likely be needed soon. And it’s unclear whether or when the government might provide it.

A recently released report from Georgia senators studying the Nov. 3 election found evidence of illegal activity carried out by workers at State Farm Arena. “The events at the State Farm Arena are particularly disturbing because they demonstrated intent on the part of election workers to exclude the public from viewing the counting of ballots, an intentional disregard for the law. The number of votes that could have been counted in that length of time was sufficient to change the results of the presidential election and the senatorial contests,” the report from the state Senate’s Election Law Study Subcommittee reads....

COVID, Woke Science—and DeathIn this brave new world of ours, will we be pruning back the elderly altogether by credentialed “ethicists,” whether because of their longevity or race?Since March, the Left has proclaimed itself the guardian of science in dealing with the COVID-19 epidemic. Its champions are the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control and Dr. Fauci. All in the past have rendered valuable service to the public, and often life-saving aid.Yet the mixture of COVID-19, the first national quarantine, and Trump Derangement Syndrome have combined to give us reason to question their judgment. These authorities variously have...

If the state senator was in the field working, she certainly was not ‘indefinitely confined’ under the meaning and intent of state statute. So, did she break the law? How many others did?MADISON, Wis. — Outgoing Wisconsin state Sen. Patty Schachtner, a full-time county medical examiner, earlier this year claimed to be “indefinitely confined,” receiving the special status accorded under state election law. The Democrat and her husband signed a statement claiming they were confined to their home “because of age, physical illness or infirmity” in seeking an absentee ballot to be automatically sent to their Somerset home. It begs...

CNN's New Day was in deep-fret mode this morning, with hosts and guests feeding each other's fears about President Trump potentially refusing to leave office. Why can't they just cover what happened yesterday, instead of always imagining the lurid worst about tomorrow? Substitute co-host Erica Hill ratcheted up the paranoia, saying: "He’s increasingly desperate. It’s clear . . . When does that desperation really become dangerous, if it hasn’t already?"Anna Palmer, for the moment still a senior Washington correspondent for Politico, was only too happy to take the hint: "That’s the question everyone’s asking. No one knows what his end...

...Pope Francis famously stated, “Is it right to take a human life to solve a problem? It’s like hiring a hitman.” By that same standard of comparison, it’s fair to assert that presumptive President-elect Joe Biden is in the process of assembling a collective “mafia”... The most striking example to date is Biden’s incendiary Dec. 7 announcement that he wants California Attorney General Xavier Becerra to serve as his secretary of Health and Human Services. As attorney general and previously as a California state legislator, Becerra has prioritized the advancement of abortion and the persecution of pro-life perspectives, to a...
