Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) said he doesn't know any candidate who supports defunding the police—even though numerous left-wingers have called for slashing police budgets or abolishing police departments altogether. "Nobody I know who's running for office is talking about ‘defunding the police,'" Sanders said in a Sunday CNN interview, referring to candidates who ran in this month's election. "What we're talking about is making police officers accountable." The far-left House Democrats known as "the Squad" and other newly elected progressives, however, have said otherwise. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) argued that slashing $1 billion from the NYPD's budget didn't...

Sex abuse claims against the Boy Scouts of America have now surpassed 88,000, according to lawyers who represent victims who’ve filed claims against the organization. Christopher Hurley, the managing partner with a law firm representing 4,000 survivors of childhood sexual abuse who say they were victimized while participating in the Boy Scouts, said in a statement to The Christian Post that there are over 88,500 victims that have come forward as of Monday, the deadline the bankruptcy court set for such claims. “We knew the problem was severe and we knew it had been neglected by the Boy Scout organization...

With the presumption that Joe Biden will be inaugurated on January 20, 2021, demands are already being made. The calls for him to forgive student loan debt by executive order are getting louder. This is supposedly some gift to the millennial generation—clearly, the most put-upon generation in all of American history.Schumer saying Biden can cancel first $50,000 in student debt via executive order. And will do so in first 100 days. This will change so many lives. https://t.co/nkWZykLJVE— Tom Winter (@WinterForMT) November 7, 2020Of course, that is a stretch. The millennials are victims of the ruling class’s strategy of managed...

A whistleblower in Milwaukee, Wisconsin found that every developmentally disabled client she spoke with had their vote stolen for Joe Biden. Every single one. Even the patients who objected to the idea. NewsTalk1130 reported: Susan couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Client after client, developmentally disabled person after developmentally disabled person all told the same story: Their vote was stolen from them. Susan, a disability service coordinator who works with developmentally disabled adults who live in various assisted living facilities and group homes in and around Milwaukee, says every one of her more than 20 clients told her that they...

Editor's Note: This is an updated version of a column published in 2015.The first Christmas tree on our block popped up the day after Halloween. Soon enough, garlands of white lights began to adorn neighborhood trees and doorways. It's Christmas -- except that it's not. From what I can see, Thanksgiving has yet to be acknowledged, much less observed. I have no particular observations to make concerning our new habit of compressing all our October-December commemorations into "The Holiday Season." I'll remark only on the eclipse of Thanksgiving, which could be due to a number of factors. Perhaps it's the...

President Donald Trump asked senior advisers last Thursday about potential options for attacking Iran's main nuclear site, US media report. The advisers warned him that military action could spark a broader conflict, officials were cited as saying. The White House has not commented on the accounts of the meeting. It took place a day after the global nuclear watchdog said Iran's enriched uranium stockpile was 12 times what was permitted under a 2015 nuclear deal. The landmark accord saw the US and five other world powers give Iran relief from crippling economic sanctions in return for limits on sensitive activities...

“It was a McCarthyism type of pounding,” said Congresswoman Donna Shalala, looking back on the election she narrowly lost this month. Shalala had spent eight years serving in the Cabinet of Bill Clinton, the paragon of Democratic moderates, but by the end of her reelection campaign, she told Intelligencer, people were coming up to her and saying, “You’re a communist.” “It was nasty, I’ve been in politics for a long time, this was vicious,” she said, as it was for a number of other Democrats in south Florida who lost their seats in races up and down the ticket in...

Barack Obama tore into Donald Trump during an interview published Monday where he said the president is a 'Richie Rich' type and far from the traditional ideal of American masculinity – like John Wayne or Clint Eastwood, he noted. 'I think about the classic male hero in American culture when you and I were growing up: the John Waynes, the Gary Coopers, the Jimmy Stewarts, the Clint Eastwoods, for that matter. There was a code,' Obama told The Atlantic, 'the code of masculinity that I grew up with that harkens back to the '30s and '40s and before that.' The...

Kayleigh McEnany told Mark Levin on Sunday that Democrat secretaries of state redesigned elections across the nation in an effort to prop up candidate Joe Biden. In an appearance on Life, Liberty, and Levin, McEnany said, “These Democrat secretaries of state, I can’t express enough, Mark, what they have done …. They were consistently misrepresenting their opinion, changing deadlines, designing a system to prop up Democrats and Joe Biden.” McEnany, the White House press secretary who also advises President Trump’s reelection campaign, said the allegations of election fraud deserve to be heard in the courts. She detailed allegations of software...

On November 12, True the Vote announced that they had sued Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer to challenge illegal ballots cast in that state. In the press release, they said, “evidence exists to cast sufficient doubt on the current results of the presidential election in Michigan and seeks to invalidate the presidential election results in counties where illegal ballots and ballot-counting were so widespread that the overall results cannot be trusted.” “One of the most fundamental rights that we as Americans possess is the right to vote,” said True the Vote Founder and President Catherine Engelbrecht. “It is a critical part...

Jew-hatred rises in societies whose democratic institutions and values are in crisis. No matter who ultimately wins the presidential election, the Jews in America are the big losers. As Professor Ruth Wisse of Harvard has long explained, Jews are the bellwether for the health of democracies. Hatred of Jews rises in societies whose democratic institutions and values are in crisis. Jew-hatred is generally low in healthy, working democracies. If we learned nothing else from the election campaign and its aftermath, we learned American democracy is in crisis. The media is the first force responsible for this crisis. For the...

Fate of slain 75-year-old grandmother was “worse than death,” doctor testifies. Last Friday, Habibullah Ahmadi, 24, was found guilty of second-degree murder in the October 8, 2017, beating of Sara Anne Widholm in Windsor, Ontario. Justice Bruce Thomas referred to a “savage” beating Ahmadi “knew was likely to cause her death.” As the trial revealed, Habibullah Ahmadi approached Anne Widholm, punched her in the face, then delivered repeated blows before picking her up and repeatedly “slamming her head into the ground.” Anne Widholm’s face was unrecognizable, her skull “crumbled,” and she fell into a state “worse state than death,” according...

Democratic joy at defeating Donald Trump was partially dulled by the simultaneous diminishment of the party’s House majority. As of Sunday at least 11 Democratic-held House seats have been lost to Republicans (while Democrats have flipped three others). That’s the biggest net loss in a presidential election year by the winning presidential candidate’s party in 60 years. The unexpected divergence in the two results sparked a round of reciprocal recriminations between the House Democratic caucus’ moderate and left-wing factions. Moderates blamed the “defund the police” sloganeering and “socialist” branding from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her supporters, which Republicans deployed in...

Denying medical services to the elderly is one way to keep costs down. Maimonides, the great 12th century codifier of Jewish law, said: “The good doctors will go to hell first,” because skilled physicians will be tempted to play God. Enter Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, a member of Biden’s recently-announced Coronavirus Advisory Committee. The architect of Obamacare, and brother of former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, is one scary dude. Kindly, Old Doc Emanuel is an advocate of health care rationing for the elderly. In a 2014 article for The Atlantic, “Why I hope to Die at 75,”...

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said Monday that Sen. Lindsey Graham pressured him to find a way to toss out legally cast ballots in the state's close election between President Donald Trump and President-elect Joe Biden. Speaking to The Washington Post, Raffensperger - a fellow Republican - said he talked to Graham, who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee, on Friday and the South Carolina senator asked if he could toss out every mail-in ballot from counties that have higher rates of non-matching signatures. 'It sure looked like he was wanting to go down that road,' Raffensperger told the newspaper,...

We were weighing the choice between Florida and Hawaii this January. You would think it would be Hawaii hands down. We know we can get in a vacation before Biden is elected and implements his Travel Ban and Lockdown of 4 to 6 weeks. And Hawaii says we can come if we pass Covid tests 72 hours in advance. We love Maui and would love to watch the wales in Maui bay. Florida doesn't require the Covid Test at this point. But I noticed many of the Democratic states are implementing more lockdowns as we speak. So Hawaii could...

Health officials in Washington state are asking more than 300 people to quarantine after attending a wedding earlier this month. More than a dozen attendees contracted COVID-19 at the giant ceremony held in a private location near the town of Ritzville, Washington, on Nov. 7, the Grant County Health District said Monday. A total of 17 people have tested positive after attending the superspreader event, the health district said, with more positive cases being added daily.
