Divorce rates in China have risen significantly because 'couples are spending too much time together at home' during coronavirus self-isolation, according to register offices across the country. Over 300 couples have scheduled appointments to get a divorce since February 24, said Lu Shijun, the manager of a marriage registry in Dazhou, Sichuan Province of south-western China. Officials believe the sharp increase of divorce requests could be caused by the fact that partners have spent too much time in close quarters under quarantine. 'The divorce rate [in the district] has soared compared to before [the coronavirus outbreak],' Mr Lu told the...

Just some information for anyone who may be traveling. I have a group of friends who are stranded in the Dominican Republic. Apparently, their government shut down all of their borders with little notice. I'm being told no planes or ships are allowed in at this time. My friends were scheduled to return back to the US today and the airline, Delta, canceled everything last night. Jet Blue took the same actions. Apparently there are many tourists on the island who have no idea how they are getting home. I spoke to the State Department this morning, they are aware...

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem (Music in The Bible) Psalms Psalm 129 A song of ascents. 1 “They have greatly oppressed me from my youth,” let Israel say; 2 “they have greatly oppressed me from my youth, but they have not gained the victory over me. 3 Plowmen have plowed my back and made their furrows long. 4 But the Lord is righteous; he has cut me free from the cords of the wicked.” 5 May all who hate Zion be turned back in shame. 6 May they be like grass on the roof, which withers before it can grow; 7 a reaper cannot fill...

Recent data for Covid-19 cases as of 3-19-20 7AM alongside the increased number of tests, plus death rates for the 2017-18 flu (you must do the math).Below is a list of states per currently reported COVID-19 infections (from Politico via The COVID Tracking Project as of 3-19-20 7:25 AM EDT. CNN reports higher numbers but not the death or testing numbers) in comparison with population size and number of tests. The latter is important since the rate of infections must be compared with the degree of tests in order to determine the rate of trasnmission. Both can be compared with...

Former Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke has written an essay he probably thought would be helpful to those of us who want President Trump to be re-elected. If this was his goal he failed. I offer this rebuttal to his “dire” warning. “With nearly every sporting event canceled during the COVID19 outbreak, I went back to one of my favorite pastimes: reading. One of the books I read was: Hacks: The Inside Story of the Break-ins and Breakdowns That Put Donald Trump in the White House. “Former Chairwoman of the Democrat National Committee Donna Brazile candidly gives readers a close-up view...

Supermarkets are expecting to get police support to deter unruly behaviour if London goes into lockdown because of the coronavirus. According to Reuters, retailers are concerned that panic buying could spike if further restrictions are imposed. On Thursday, there were frenzied scenes in some stores as shoppers sought to buy bottled water, tinned goods and toilet roll. Environment Secretary George Eustace had told the Commons there was "significant resilience in our food supply chain" and no shortage of food. "There isn't a shortage of food, the challenge that we've had is getting food to shelves in time when people have...

The White House has defended Trump's use of the term 'Chinese virus' to describe coronavirus - pointing out that many other diseases are named after places. 'Spanish Flu. West Nile Virus. Zika. Ebola. All named for places,' the White House said in a tweet from its official account. 'Before the media’s fake outrage, even CNN called it “Chinese Coronavirus.” Those trying to divide us must stop rooting for America to fail and give Americans real info they need to get through the crisis,' the tweet added.

Playboy magazine announced that it will be ending its print edition, due in part to the coronavirus pandemic. Playboy's CEO, Ben Kohn, said the decision to stop printing the magazine had been discussed for some time, but was expedited by the global outbreak. “As the disruption of the coronavirus pandemic to content production and the supply chain became clearer and clearer, we were forced to accelerate a conversation we’ve been having internally: the question of how to transform our US print product to better suit what consumers want today … [and] engage in a cultural conversation each and every day,...

A New York-based Muslim activist has urged Egyptians to deliberately spread Coronavirus to government officials and employees. According to the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), Bahgat Saber, a Muslim Brotherhood activist in New York, said that any Egyptian with flu-like symptoms should “exact revenge” by intentionally going to police stations, public prosecution offices, courthouses, embassies and consulates to spread the infection in hopes of “toppling” the government. “Whoever has flu-like symptoms – cold, fever, sneezing – should pay a visit to his ‘friends’ who work for Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi’s government,” Saber said, according to a translation by MEMRI. “The...

There's a difference between warning the public to take a threat seriously, and throwing in the cards and saying doom is near. On today's Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough claimed that he "certainly" wasn't intending "to disturb anybody." But Scarborough then went on to predict the "very real possibility" that our "health care system collapses."Get the rest of the story and view the video here.

Surgical masks, disinfectant and toilet paper aren’t the only things flying off the shelves as Americans prepare for coronavirus. Several retailers contacted by American Rifleman report ammunition sales are up significantly, with another warning that foodstuffs and survival gear once considered the exclusive realm of hardcore preppers and survivalists are in even higher demand. Widener’s Reloading & Shooting Supply, an online ammunition retailer, experienced a 99.7 percent increase in website traffic from Feb. 23 to 25 (when compared to last year) and roughly double the sales. “It’s clear our customers want to be prepared in a worst-case scenario,” Jacob...

What’s frightening about the Chinese Virus is the overwhelming amount of inconclusive data. We’re inundated with media speculation and hyperventilation, Chinese disinformation, and data that changes daily thanks to the treatment and quarantine initiatives governments are trying around the world.

Former Democratic Party presidential nominee Hillary Clinton called on Congress to “make voting by mail the norm” with “free postage” as a result of public health concerns due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. President Donald Trump said earlier this week that he expects the current national emergency to last through July or August. The White House has not yet said what, if any, preparations might be needed for the November election.

Washington -- There is a new book out that bids fair to win this year's J. Gordon Coogler Award for The Worst Book of the Year, and remember, the year has just begun. The dreadful effort is "The Ones We've Been Waiting For: How a New Generation of Leaders Will Transform America." Its author is Charlotte Alter. The book takes its dreadful title from a dreadful speech given back in 2008 by presidential candidate Barack Obama, entitled, dreadfully enough, "The Ones We've Been Waiting For." The book is another of those My Generation-obsessed books that have been appearing regularly since...

For whatever reason, the Democrats are harping on the fact that President Donald Trump referred to the Wuhan coronavirus as the "Chinese virus." They claim that it's racist to point out the fact that the virus originated in China. Former Vice President Joe Biden's Senior Adviser, Symone Sanders, reiterated that point of view during an interview on Wednesday with Fox News' Martha MacCallum. "It's something that's offensive to Chinese Americans," Sanders claimed. "What President Trump announced today — it’s a tough job but it has to be done – on some of what he said today was good but the...

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Thursday called on President Trump to use the emergency war powers he invoked just a day earlier to immediately press U.S. industry to accelerate the production of medical supplies to fight the coronavirus. "Right now, shortages of critical medical and personal protective equipment are harming our ability to fight the coronavirus epidemic, endangering frontline workers and making it harder to care for those who fall ill," Pelosi said in a statement. Trump on Wednesday had invoked the 1950 Defense Production Act — an exceedingly rare step for a president — which empowers the government to...

On Wednesday, the mayor of Baltimore asked criminals to have a heart. Mayor Jack Young pleaded with the citizenry: Stop shooting each other so hospital beds will be available for COVID-19 victims. Also Wednesday, as per The Baltimore Sun, a fifth person in the city was confirmed to have contracted the virus. Two of the five are over 60: The five confirmed cases in Baltimore involve a person in their 60s, a person in their 70s and three people in their 20s, said health commissioner Dr. Letitia Dzirasa. All are in “good to stable condition.” According to CBS Baltimore, Jack...

HARRISBURG, PA—The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania joined the neighboring states of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut in instituting restrictions, including the closure of all indoor retail shopping malls, in response to the Coronavirus pandemic. New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy, New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, and Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont announced on Wednesday Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf is joining their regional coalition to implement a regional approach to combatting COVID-19. While many of us turn to the government for answers to the COVID-19 pandemic, others rightfully seek solutions from the private sector. Last week, the Hoover Institution's Russ Roberts asked his many Twitter followers to help "create a list of voluntary (non-coercive) actions taking place right now to reduce COVID-19 spread or impact." The answers are too inspiring not to share. First, many of Roberts' followers shared a list the benefits offered by their employers that help to alleviate workers' financial hardships or ensure their health is protected. For instance, Walmart, Target, Gap and many other firms announced that they...
