[Catholic Caucus] Conflict in Synod Hall Fr. Paulo Suess slams bishops slow to accept 'innovations' VATICAN CITY (ChurchMilitant.com) - A key author of the Amazon Synod's working document is reporting conflict among synod fathers over the Amazon Synod's final document. Brazil-based German theologian Fr. Paulo Suess told CNA Wednesday that behind closed doors, "conflict over the editing of the final document" has arisen in recent days. Suess described "a certain slowness," particularly among Latin American bishops, to accept proposals to create a female diaconate as well as other "innovations." Many of these bishops, he noted, were appointed by Popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI and...

The blackouts are expected to last until Monday

“An Eternal Gospel to Proclaim” (Revelation 14:6-7) Our text is one of the traditional readings for Reformation Day, Revelation 14:6-7. There St. John writes: “Then I saw another angel flying directly overhead, with an eternal gospel to proclaim to those who dwell on earth, to every nation and tribe and language and people. And he said with a loud voice, ‘Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come, and worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of water.’” Now the question immediately arises: How did this text come to...

David Cox Sr. issued the following statement in response to legislation introduced by Sens. Marsha Blackburn and Josh Hawley that would relocate the headquarters of major federal agencies outside Washington, D.C.: “Eighty-five percent of federal employees already live outside the nation’s capital – caring for veterans, supporting our military, processing Social Security and other federal benefits, and carrying out other vital work serving citizens across the country. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), the ranking member of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, sent a letter to State Department official Philip Reeker asking him to agree to move his deposition on a date when the House is in session. Reeker, the Acting Assistant Secretary of European and Eurasian Affairs, is set to appear on Saturday. In the letter obtained by Townhall, Jordan accused House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) of purposefully moving Reeker's testimony to when some Republicans may not be able to appear to further isolate them from the impeachment inquiry into President Trump. Jordan wrote to...

House Democrats have neither voted to commence an impeachment inquiry nor established rules for such an inquiry. As a result, Adam Schiff has been free to decree whatever arbitrary procedures he desires. Only, as Congressman Dan Crenshaw points out in the video below, Schiff’s procedures actually violate the House rules on committee records:VideoIn the video you only see the relevant rule briefly, but here is a screen shot: http://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/HMAN-116/pdf/HMAN-116.pdf (couldn't get it to copy)....Title: 115th, 2d Session--------House Document No. 115–177CONSTITUTION JEFFERSON’SMANUAL AND RULESOF THE HOUSE OF THE UNITED STATES ONE HUNDRED SIXTEENTH CONGRESS THOMASJ. On Friday during Rep. Elijah Cummings’ (D-MD) funeral, former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton used a Biblical analogy to take a veiled shot at President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump. Clinton was comparing Cummings to his namesake, the Biblical prophet Elijah, who stood up against wicked King Ahab and Queen Jezebel. Clinton said, “Like the prophet, our Elijah could call down fire from heaven — but he also prayed and worked for healing.” She added, “Like that Old Testament prophet, he stood against corrupt leadership of King Ahab and Queen Jezebel.” The crowd roared in acknowledgment.

FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) — Joe Biden said Saturday he is undeterred by the ascendancy of Democratic rival Elizabeth Warren, noting that some of his supporters are already treating the primary campaign as a general election contest between him and President Donald Trump. “She doesn’t affect my strategy, period,” the former vice president said in an interview with The Associated Press before a town hall meeting in South Carolina, home to the South’s first primary next year. “And I’m not being facetious. I think she’s a fine person, a good candidate, but I didn’t get involved in deciding to run because...

Charleston Police released the following statement, in part, on Friday afternoon: "After completing its...

Demoting Islam's Religion Status The following article is written by Martel Sobieskey and is reprinted here with his permission. ONE THING is certain, Islam is not a religion by anything Americans believe one to be -- not even close. In fact, Islam is the antithesis of what we deem to be religious. Above all, Islam is a totalitarian political machine of bloodthirsty conquest which zealously advocates the downfall of the U.S. government.
