Seven tractor trailers were blown over on the I-40 bridge over the Tennessee River on Saturday, the Tennessee Highway Patrol confirmed.
Straight line winds have overturned approximately 7 semi trucks on I-40 in Decatur and Henderson Counties. We have several troopers enroute to assist in clearing I-40. @THPJackson District is activating a Strike Team to assist in the counties with possible damages to structures.

Monarch butterflies and dragonflies migrating caught on radar
Caused by global warming.
Minorities hardest hit.
Chaos theory: a butterfly flapping its wings over the Atlantic causes extreme gusty winds in TN.
Wow! Had a brief power outage at home near Hohenwald. Leaving Lawrenceburg shortly, in the big rig, Huntsville AL, Rossville, Collierville, Lewisburg, then back to port at Lawrenceburg. Unusual late Saturday run. Normally come back on I-40 to I-840. Looks like I may take 72 and 64 back east with the backhaul.
Thanks for the heads up!!
My neck of the woods. Yesterday was peak leaf season for my area. This evening the trees are almost completely bare. I don’t see how the roof stayed on my house.
Too bad it was not a herd of illegal immigrants heading south.
Maybe next year.
” This evening the trees are almost completely bare. I dont see how the roof stayed on my house.”
We have a 50 year pistachio tree, no nuts just beautiful leaves. It is over 40’ tall and lost a ton of leaves in 2 days. I gave my wife one for her birthday and it is only 12 feet tall and has all of its leaves.
How old was it before you had it fixed?
Yeah - sounded like the roof was gonna come off my house down here in ‘Bama. Glad you and yours are safe.
That's what you call a pierre delecto pistachioanus there...
Several years ago we were at a music festival in south central Kansas and we watched the migration. It was amazing! We had binoculars and could see them up as far as the binoculars let us. Layers after layers. And then on would land on my arm. So beautiful. And then, just to make it more interesting, the only lumberyard for miles around caught fire and burned to the ground. There was something cosmic going on.
Oh, I wish I could grow pistachio trees here. I have black walnuts, butternuts, hickory, and chinkapins. I’m going to tap the walnuts in late January and try my hand at syrup making.
I was raised in Hohenwald. Went to school 1st-12th grade there.
Thanks for sharing. I agree that it is cosmic.
My wife battled cancer for 9 years and in our conversations she would tell me that she loved me and that a butterfly would show up just to remind me of how much she loved me.
The 12 yo apparently hasn’t been fixed yet.
Your wifes words to you are so caring. I hope you see butterflies often.

It was only one butterfly that caused the wind.
