Today’s Campaign Update (Because The Campaign Never Ends) So, why aren’t the Democrat Party’s favorite “rising star” loooooosers running for the senate in 2020?– That is a question that is on a lot of people’s minds today, especially in Georgia and Texas. In case you missed it yesterday, Georgia Republican Senator Johnny Isakson announced he would resign his seat at the end of this year, meaning that Governor Brian Kemp will be able to appoint his successor. However, although Isakson would not have been up for re-election until 2022, Georgia law requires the holding of a special election in November,...

Excerpts follow: Washington ignoring US firms' interests The United States passed the IEEPA in 1977 to safeguard US hegemony and fight "enemies". Subtitle: July 24th. More blind alleys. A couple days ago, delegates passed the framework of what we’d recognize as the Electoral College. State legislatures appointed electors. The only remaining substantial question was “how many votes per state?” Well, that progress vanished today. To get an idea, here are my Cliff Notes to the day’s proceedings: • Divide the nation into three electoral districts to select three executives. • Fear an elected Monarch. • Electors equal in number to the State’s Congressional delegation was resoundingly defeated. • Return to Congressional appointment by 7-4 vote. • Executive must be independent of Congress...

O’Donnell said, “Last night, on this show, I discussed information that wasn’t ready for reporting. I repeated statements a single source told me about the president’s finances and loan documents with Deutsche Bank. Saying ‘if true’ as I discussed the information was simply not good enough. I did not go through the rigorous verification and standards process here at MSNBC before repeating what I heard from my source. Had it gone through that process, I would not have been permitted to report it. I should not have said it on air or posted it on Twitter. I was wrong to...

Last fall, speaking to a far-right Austrian magazine, the Iowa Republican congressman Steve King succinctly laid out his theory of Western decline. The problem, he suggested, was a demographic born at the nexus of reproduction and immigration. “If we continue to abort our babies and import a replacement for them in the form of young violent men, we are supplanting our culture, our civilization,” King said. King had already called attention to himself the previous year for retweeting a cartoon that depicted the nativist Dutch party leader Geert Wilders as a bulwark against invading Muslim hordes. “Wilders understands that culture...

Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) said in a letter to the FEC’s leadership made public Tuesday. “Partisan attacks only serve to undermine your work and the work of the entire Commission staff,” Davis said. He was writing on behalf of the three Republicans on the Administration...

From Bill Kristol's twitter feed tonight: ''For some reason, Mike Pence portentously proclaiming that “The Bible Stays” reminds me of the popular two-line bumper sticker in Boston during my college years: First line: “Jesus Saves” Second line: “But Esposito Scores on the Rebound.”''

On a scorching afternoon in mid-July, clergy members gathered outside a small unmarked building tucked away in a business complex in North Austin. They filed inside, up the stairs, and into the waiting room of the Whole Woman’s Health abortion clinic. There, Christian and Jewish leaders stood in a circle and sang phrases in chorus: Hallelujah. Do not fear. You are loved. Bless this room. Bless this womb. The 20 or so people had assembled not to protest, but to bless the clinic, burning sage in the exam rooms and reading patient and staff testimonials. “We’re gathered together today to...

I’m sure this post won’t stay up long… But as a born-again evangelical I no longer feel comfortable on this site. It has become openly and aggressively pro Catholic. Catholicism is heresy. Thank you Jim for putting so much effort into this clearinghouse of ideas… But the bombardment of papers nonsense can a longer be tolerated by me. God bless all who proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord. God bless America

Kirstin Gillibrand is one of more than 20 Democrats hoping to challenge President Donald Trump in 2020. She has a 100-percent pro-abortion voting record and recently voted against a bill to protect newborns from infanticide. But the New York senator decided to drop after today after lackluster results, a low polling and fundraising standing, and the inability to make it to prime time debates. The two-term senator for New York told the New York Times in an interview she would endorse another Democratic candidate, but she hasn’t yet decided. She will now try to keep her Senate seat. “Today, I...
