ODonnell said, Last night, on this show, I discussed information that wasnt ready for reporting. I repeated statements a single source told me about the presidents finances and loan documents with Deutsche Bank. Saying if true as I discussed the information was simply not good enough. I did not go through the rigorous verification and standards process here at MSNBC before repeating what I heard from my source. Had it gone through that process, I would not have been permitted to report it. I should not have said it on air or posted it on Twitter. I was wrong to do so. This afternoon, attorneys for the president sent us a letter asserting the story is false. They also demanded a retraction. Tonight, we are retracting the story. We dont know whether the information is inaccurate. But, the fact is, we do know it wasnt ready for broadcast, and for that, I apologize.

What’s the frequency of the hammering, Kenneth?
This was a reckless attempt to slander our family and smear a great company. Apologies are not enough when the true intent was solely to damage and cause harm. As a company, we will be taking legal action. This unethical behavior has to stop. @Lawrence @MSNBC https://t.co/i4X6CcdkCm— Eric Trump (@EricTrump) August 29, 2019
Hit’em where it hurts!!
Stop lying, Lawrence. Your job, as you understand it, is to sow doubt about the GOP. Truth? What’s ‘truth’ got to do with it?
You are just following orders.
Eric is considered Fredo, but in this case, Fredo ain’t so dumb.
According to a letter posted on line, the documents in question were available on line with a simple search.

Seems like a clear case of malice to me.
Eric has been impressing me a lot lately, and he has the hotter wife.
Doesn't sound like much of an apology to me. It sounds more like he still thinks it's accurate but for legal reasons he has to make this non-apology apology.
Should be fired, today, now. An apology is simply not enough. If MSNBC has a shred of integrity, firing is the only adequate response.
Yep, a non-apology apology. What a creep.
However, if fits our politics beliefs, so we reported it as truth.

In other words, “I am incompetent.”
There.
