At the Children's Research Lab at the University of Texas, a database is kept on thousands of families in the Austin area who have volunteered to be available for scholarly research. In 2006 Birgitte Vittrup recruited from the database about a hundred families, all of whom were Caucasian with a child 5 to 7 years old. The goal of Vittrup's study was to learn if typical children's videos with multicultural storylines have any beneficial effect on children's racial attitudes. Her first step was to give the children a Racial Attitude Measure, which asked such questions as: How many White people...

Imagine a large city, such as my home town, Detroit used to be, before liberalism destroyed it. Imagine that, in this city, a developer offers to buy a plot of land on which to build a multi-story office building. The upper floors will provide space for visionary entrepreneurs to start new businesses and to expand existing ones, create new products, new services and above all, new jobs. The ground floor will be retail space, providing much-needed products and services to the people who work in the offices above and to the rest of the city, too. And of course, for...

U.K. Troubled By Anti-Islam Rallies, Protests One minister likens violence to 1930s-era fascist incitement, battle LONDON - Violent clashes between anti-Islam demonstrators and Muslim counter-protesters in English cities are worrying the government, with one British minister comparing the disturbances to 1930s-era fascist incitement. The violence that has hit Luton, Birmingham and London in the last few months has involved a loose collection of far-right groups — such as the previously unknown English Defense League — on one side and anti-fascist organizations and Muslim youth on the other. In an interview published Saturday, Communities Minister John Denham accused the anti-Islam protesters...

They came. They saw. They protested. Yet it remains to be seen whether the demonstration Saturday in the nation's capital, against what protesters view as out-of-control spending by an expanding federal government, will conquer Washington. The tens of thousands of protesters marched to the U.S. Capitol chanting various slogans and waving posters that voiced a rather broad array of grievances against big government and the leaders, particularly President Obama, who the protesters blame for its size and scope. Some signs, reflecting the growing intensity of the health care debate, depicted President Obama with the signature mustache of Nazi dictator Adolf...

Each week we look forward to the Friday News Dump, that special time when the Government "dumps" a news story that will be unfavorable to them should it be well publicized. The theory being the public will be too busy to pay attention to the news during the busy weekend and when the news cycle begins on Monday, the "dropped" story will be old news. Yesterday, Obama Administration literally dropped one of its biggest supporters: ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) Read more at The Hippos Ass Blog

Letter I sent my elected representatives: Dear #### Please vote NO on the health care bill package President Obama is trying to push on America. We can’t afford it and neither can the future generations. My husband and I would like to see: 1. tort reform. 2. the ability to purchase insurance in any state. 3. the deductible (high or low) of our choice. 4. medical savings account. Growing up in a low-income home, I do know that there are many options for people who cannot afford health care. There were then; there are now. Thank you for reading this.

The undead have officially taken over Yonge-Dundas Square, and they are restless. "Arrrggg, this song really suck, play something else," groaned one blood-drenched young man, as a low and ominous bass track looped on giant speakers at the square. He would only identify himself as "Ahhhh ... uuaaaaa ... arggg, rock on," before drooling a quantity of purple liquid onto his pants. The shuffling, bleeding, oozing, army are in the square to honour George A. Romero, who launches his new film Survival of the Dead tonight at TIFF. Romero took to the stage to thunderous groans shortly before 7 p.m....

(CNSNews.com) - In his address to a joint session of Congress on Wednesday night, President Barack Obama said the health care plan he is pushing will not provide federal money for abortions. But pro-life congressmen and Planned Parenthood agree that abortion would be covered under the plan under an amendment sponsored by Rep. Lois Capps (D.-Calif.). “One more misunderstanding I want to clear up,” Obama said Wednesday night. “Under our plan, no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions.” Pro-life members of Congress and Stop the Abortion Mandate, a coalition of pro-life groups, responded to Obama’s remarks at a...

Despite the efforts restaurant chains from fast food to fine dining have made to add more-healthful items to the menu, consumers still aren’t buying. In a poll on chainleader.com, 82 percent of respondents say their better-for-you items are selling “lousy.” Recent research shows that customers cite economic factors as a reason for not purchasing healthful food—or as an excuse. Too Great a Cost Chicago-based foodservice consulting firm Technomic says its research shows the recession is hindering consumers’ healthy-eating behavior. Although more than half of consumers say they are more concerned about their eating habits than they were a year ago,...

We have been to Teaparties. We have had one big gathering in DC. We have been together and talking to each other at town, city, and state levels. New representitives, new senators, new state congressmen, new judges, new sherrifs, and most of all a new president who will be ready to hit the ground running. We need all new elected officials who are not status-quo. We need them at every level and many to grow with the job. Clean people who can clean house. Look around you. Encourage...

Sydney - Australia's 250,000 Muslims complained of discrimination Saturday after laws were proposed banning shops from opening at Christmas and Easter to give retail staff more family time. Islamic Friendship Association head Keysar Trad said all religious holidays should be covered not just some of them. 'It does give the impression that we are a solely Christian nation and it raises the issue of other religions too, whether you are Hindu , Buddhist, Muslim,' he said. 'There are only two Muslim public holidays, so it's not a lot to ask.' A spokesman for the New South Wales state government said...

By ED TRELEVEN Posted: Thursday, September 10, 2009 The state will pay $50,000 to a woman who was shocked with a Taser by UW Police at a Badgers football game last year under a settlement reached on Tuesday, the woman's attorney said. A special treat tonight, a jihadi work accident caught on tape. An Apache is stalking a group of Taliban planting an IED when it prematurely detonates spreading little pieces of Allah's finest across the desert of southern Afghanistan. ((excerpt)) Much was made about South Carolina Republican Rep. Joe Wilson's "you lie!" comment to President Barack Obama during his joint session speech on Wednesday. But behind that rude outburst there's genuine concern about whether illegal immigrants would benefit from whatever plan emerges from the House and Senate ((snip)) There is a bit of a Catch 22 in this bill for illegal immigrants. The House bill would require that everyone have health insurance. If you can't afford it the federal government would help and there are expected to be some hardship exemptions to the mandate. If you don't comply, the...
