Much was made about South Carolina Republican Rep. Joe Wilson's "you lie!" comment to President Barack Obama during his joint session speech on Wednesday.

But behind that rude outburst there's genuine concern about whether illegal immigrants would benefit from whatever plan emerges from the House and Senate

There is a bit of a Catch 22 in this bill for illegal immigrants.

The House bill would require that everyone have health insurance. If you can't afford it the federal government would help and there are expected to be some hardship exemptions to the mandate. If you don't comply, the IRS would penalize you on your taxes.

Under federal tax law, illegal immigrants who file taxes and meet certain residency requirement would fall under this mandate even though they wouldn't be eligible for federal subsidies to help them get insurance.

Experts estimate that about half the illegal immigrants in the U.S. get a regular paycheck that is taxed.

So illegal immigrants subject to the mandate who don't buy health insurance could apply for one of the hardship exemption...

Look, the reality is even if it’s not politically do-able now, the left will keep on and keep on after a foundation has been laid.

I think the real question is will ANYONE benefit from health reform? If it runs the course of most liberal schemes for addressing a problem it will not help those at the bottom but be considered a success because it took away from those at higher levels. Underneath all the rhetoric about helping the less fortunate lies the true goal of the liberal and that’s to punish those who have done well.

If it turns out in the end that the reform did actually benefit someone other than the usual political class it will be purely coincidental.

Once the ‘RATS pass their CommieCare bill, they are going to cram their “immigrant reform” down our throats so by the time CommieCare kicks in, all the illegal aliens will be on Obama’s superspeedway to “citizenship” anyway. Technically, there won’t be any illegal aliens left in the country when CommieCare is ready to start screwing over the American public.

If any bill is passed as this Health Care bill, even a blank sheet of paper with no provisions at all, it will all come through. Every subsequent bill of any type will have HC amendments and regulatory agencies will work overtime effectively adding provisions as will lawyers and judges until we have the whole socialist Obamacare system.

Illegal aliens will get 0bama-care because there is no verification allowed. The Democrats voted down a Republican verification amendment

Proof of eligibility is not demanded so any illegal alien who wants 0-care can simply say he is an American or a legal immigrant

Of course they will. Consider the millions of new latino votes they will inherit too. Hope and change for illegals is a major player in their scheme to stay in power as well. These communists will buy Latino votes with our own tax dollars.
