DALLAS — Last year, Chicken Fried Bacon and a Fried Banana Split took top honors at the annual Big Tex Choice Awards to pick the best new foods at the State Fair of Texas. This year, the competition is equally innovative (and similarly deep-fried). • Deep Fried Butter could push the grease-o-meter to a new high. "100 percent pure butter is whipped 'til light and fluffy, then specially sweetened with a choice of several flavors." It is then surrounded by a "special dough" and quick-fried. • Fried Peanut Butter Cup Macaroon is about what you'd expect from the description. It...

Back on July 8, 2008, I had originally reported a story by WND wherein Mr. Obama had referenced Jakarta, Indonesia as “my old home town.” In that posting, I also referenced the following picture by Tatan Syuflana (an Indonesian reporter and photographer) of Mr. Obama’s registration card at Indonesia’s Fransiskus Assisi Catholic school: To date, the White House has remained silent on the fact that the document shows “Barry Soetoro’s” citizenship as being Indonesian. Stick with me — this is where things begin to get interesting, and likely not for the reason you’re thinking. Today, a few concerned citizens forwarded...

Tim Pawlenty is the Republican governor of Minnesota who is completing the second of his two terms. In the midst of a tough recessionary environment, he has been forced by a profligate legislature to balance the state budget by his own hand and to veto reckless tax increases. The actions might have made him unpopular. But have they? The New Republic's Jonathan Chait argues in a column this morning that Obama's bait-and-switch liberalism does not account for his sinking poll numbers. Chait writes: Is Obama really sliding because of his liberal policies? If so, then you might expect to see...

YOU could have been reading a chapter of Dan Brown's best-selling novel The DaVinci Code. Two people painstakingly deciphering the Latin words on hundreds of tombs inside one of the oldest places of worship on these islands. Using a centuries-old map to identify a vault hidden under the floor of the 13th Century gothic building with tower attached, they solved a mystery that had surrounded the Irish ancestors of US president Barack Obama. It's the stuff of dreams, but it has become a reality in Kilkenny, Ireland's medieval city. And so it was to St Can-ice's Cathedral that Kil-kenny film...

RED SPRINGS - There's dissension in the church. Three days after being padlocked out of his parish, Father Walter Ospina returned to give the Wednesday evening Mass at the Iglesia Catolica San Andres on the outskirts of this rural Robeson County town. By order of the Bishop of the Raleigh Diocese, it will be the last Mass held in the church until a review of any parishioner's concerns is complete. Earlier this week, St. Pauls Police Chief Tommy Hagens said the Robeson County District Attorney's Office is looking into an allegation made against Ospina. Assistant District Attorney Joe Osman, who...

Here is video of GOP Rep. Darrell Issa saying he has a Health Care bill that is one-page long and would mandate providing to Americans access to the same Health Care that members of Congress have. It would provide Americans access to over 300 Private Health Care Providers at affordable rates, without respect to pre-existing conditons. Issa makes the statement at the 1:30 remaining mark of the video. The Issa Bill is H.R. 3438. . . . . (Watch Video)

August auto sales got a boost from the government’s Cash-for-Clunkers program, although results for American car makers were underwhelming. “Of all of them, Ford managed a 17% gain… Analysts continue to think Ford might be being rewarded by consumers for not taking bailout money.” WATCH VIDEO...

My Announcement as a Candidate for Congress! Dear family and friends: I have decided to announce that I am a "Candidate" for the U. S. Congress, District 30, here in the State of Texas. I will make the "Announcement" public on 12 September 2009 at a Park located in Sunnyvale, Texas. Sunnyvale is a small town located just East of Mesquite, and I am inviting all my family and friends to be present. We will begin at 6p.m. in the evening and have the park scheduled until 10p.m., but I really feel that we can be through not later than...

"In coaching, you've got to have more discipline and you've got to be more strict and just conservative, I think. It fits with the Republicans." So said longtime Florida State University football coach Bobby Bowden in an article published by the Wall Street Journal Wednesday titled "Why Your Coach Votes Republican." With the college football season just hours away from kickoff, and traditional conservative values surging throughout the nation, the Journal's piece is as timely at it is fascinating.

they reported on the bogus "prank" nonsense as if was a true story. Both palin, and the organization debunked the "prank" nonsense in statements yesterday. MiG-29K fighters ready, but no carriers Vishnu Som, Wednesday September 2, 2009, Moscow Brand, spanking new MiG-29K fighters for the Indian Navy are ready for delivery after years in development, except there's one major problem -- the aircraft carrier they were meant to be deployed on the Gorshkov, is no where near ready. As India and Russia continue negotiations for a final price on the Gorshkov, these jets will be based at Goa with no carrier to be deployed on. The saga to fix a final price on the Gorshkov, a second hand carrier being refurbished for the Indian Navy,...

The show is called "Death Making" in Arabic, hardly the way Al Qaeda probably wants itself described. But that is how the powerful pan-Arabic satellite channel Al Arabiya casts the terror organization and its foot soldiers in its popular television program. Hosted by female correspondent Rima Salha, the Dubai-based show is heading into its third year on Al Arabiya and aims to influence how the Arab world views Al Qaeda. "As we know, there are lots of Muslims who are brainwashed so they believe in terrorism but there are also big sections of Muslims who sympathize with terrorists," says Salha....

This is more of a question to FReepers. The New Black Panther Party used men dressed in para-military outfits and carrying clubs to frighten away white voters in Philadelphia, and they are not facing an investigation by the DOJ. Isn't what the NBPP did along the same lines as what the DOJ and the Obamafascists are investigating the CIA about the same in comparision? So, why may I ask is this not being pointed out by our republican leaders and reporters on our side?

In the market for a new car but your current set of wheels didn't qualify for the "cash for clunkers" program? Edmunds.com CEO Jeremy Anwyl says hold off, if you can. His advice "would be to wait probably until November" when inventory levels normalize. In an interesting market dynamic, the Clunkers program drove up demand so much, certain vehicles actually got more expensive. Prices "were up during the program and they're still up today because inventories are still very lean," he says. One of the best examples is the Toyota Corolla, the most popular new vehicle purchased under the program....

Some of my best friends are gay. Suspiciously large numbers, it has sometimes been suggested to me. But that’s OK, I’m cool with that. What my friends get up to in the privacy of their own homes - or, indeed, the scary back room of their local boite - is very much their own affair. And if they want to get married (Hell-ooo! Why sacrifice the single greatest benefit of being gay?), well I’m probably OK with that too. I don’t believe that homosexuality is a lifestyle choice so I guess it’s only fair that gay men and women too...

... A demonstration of this misguided mindset by the GOP establishment (both nationally and in Illinois) is illustrated perfectly by the rush to support the Senate candidacy of U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk (R-10th District). Kirk's voting record more closely reflects that of a liberal Democrat... I have been watching the political scene for nearly 20 years and without doubt, I have never seen such a visceral reaction to a Republican candidacy--as is the case with Kirk. In fact, there are a number of web sites and blogs dedicated to exposing Mark Kirk's stand on the issues. The latest effort is...

NASA's Terra satellite has captured a dramatic image of the Los Angeles "Station Fire" wildfire. It is one of at least seven conflagrations currently affecting California, which by yesterday had reportedly laid waste to over 133,000 acres and consumed 80 buildings. NASA explains: "The area covered by the image is 245 kilometers (152 miles) wide. Several pyrocumulus clouds, created by the Station Fire, are visible above the smoke plumes rising from the San Gabriel Mountains north of Los Angeles in the left-center of the image. "Smoke from the Station Fire is seen covering the interior valleys along the south side...

I spoke with thousands of voters at town-hall meetings this summer. What I gathered from them is that it's not just the proposed overhaul of health care that has them upset. Many also expressed a sense of betrayal. In spite of their hope for change, it still appears that the government in Washington is run for its own benefit and the benefit of special interests—not for the benefit of the American people. The folks I met with also don't trust politicians in Washington to address mounting long-term challenges to our economy.

Hell 921. What do you mean by hell? Hell is the eternal lot of misery awaiting those who die in a state of grave sin and at enmity with God. Before the general resurrection, the soul alone experiences this misery; after the resurrection, the body will be reunited with that soul and will share in the misery, being tormented by created elements even as the person forsook God during life for the enjoyment of created things. The chief misery will be the sense of having lost the happiness of the Vision of God; the other will be the torment of...
