What I Learned From the 'Mob'
Wall Street Journal ^ | 09/02/2009 | Tom Coburn

I spoke with thousands of voters at town-hall meetings this summer. What I gathered from them is that it's not just the proposed overhaul of health care that has them upset. Many also expressed a sense of betrayal. In spite of their hope for change, it still appears that the government in Washington is run for its own benefit and the benefit of special interests—not for the benefit of the American people. The folks I met with also don't trust politicians in Washington to address mounting long-term challenges to our economy.

For special interests all you have to do is watch this supposedly wonderful president Barack Obama ignore the plight of our children in failing schools because he is a tool of the teachers’ union.

Then there is choosing to deny old people care in a desperate effort to “cut costs” while refusing to reform the tort laws because he is funded by the trial lawyers.

etc.

When has it not been so?

Spot on. They’ve just replaced one set of “special interests” with another- the unions and Acorn style organizations!

A good definition of STATISM: “... the government in Washington is run for its own benefit and the benefit of special interests — not for the benefit of the American people.” - U.S. Senator Tom Coburn, M.D.

Hat tip to Mark Levin for using the terms “statism” and “statists” over 240 times in his best seller Liberty & Tyranny.

This is the shortest and most telling description of this administration I have seen to date. Thanks for putting it so succinctly.

Well, on second thought...LOL! How about throwing in something about the gaggle of criminals and Communists he has surrounded himself with, and all the industries he has nationalized and threatened, and jobs he has destroyed? But it’s STILL the shortest description out there. (Applause)

It seems the morning alarm clock has gone off...
We the people are wide awake...
There are a few lazy’s hitting the snooze button...
But the government is still sleeping - hoping it’s just a bad dream and everything will go back to business as usual.
