Obama Vs. America Scott Wheeler Thursday, March 05, 2009 Obama has declared war on America. He says he is gearing up to fight anyone who disagrees with him. He has singled some of us out by name: Joe the Plumber, Rick Santelli and of course the mightiest voice among us, Rush Limbaugh. Rush, according to the latest Democrat strategy of marginalizing anyone who disagrees with them, is the leader of the Republicans. The Democrats say this because they need a face to represent the patriotic Americans that they are planning to attack. The Obama administration and the Democrats keep...

Just so you have a short list of what's at stake if Washington DC doesn't change policy here and now (which means before the collapse in equities comes, which could start as soon as today, if the indicators I watch have any validity at all. For what its worth, those indicators are painting a picture of the Apocalypse that I simply can't believe, and they're showing it as an imminent event - like perhaps today imminent.) All pension funds, private and public, are done. If you are receiving one, you won't be. If you think you will in the future,...

The French writer François Mauriac once said during the cold war that he loved Germany so much, he was glad there were two of them. After what an undivided Germany had done to France in World War II and before, that was understandable. To paraphrase Mauriac, I love France, but I don’t want there to be two of them, least of all if one is in the United States. Don’t get me wrong, I think President Obama’s counter-revolution goes in the right direction. In fact, it’s less a question of right and wrong with his budget than of necessity. After...

I was having lunch yesterday with a prominent critic of the Spender in Chief, and he raised a possibility that many of us have entertained over the past several weeks: that Obama is simply out of his depth: that he hasn’t a clue about what makes the economy tick and his talk about the “profit-to-earnings ratio” was not a slip of the tongue but a worrisome confirmation of the suspicion that he is an empty suit floundering around in the dark. We kicked around that possibility for a few minutes: certainly the Obama administration seems like a monument to incompetence....

President Obama opened his summit on health reform Thursday with a clear message: “The status quo is the one option that is not on the table.” Obama welcomed more than 100 lawmakers, interest group executives and experts to the White House to begin talks that he hopes will culminate in significant reform of the healthcare system. “We are here today to discuss one of the greatest threats not just to the well-being of our families and the prosperity of our businesses, but to the very foundation of our economy – and that is the exploding cost of healthcare in America...

Netbooks are a relative newcomer to the world of portable computers. They sit comfortably at the opposite end of the spectrum from the "desktop replacement" notebooks, those laptops with big screens, beefy specs and full-sized keyboards. Netbooks sacrifice optical drives (CD/DVD drives) and have generally modest hardware specifications, smaller screen sizes and shrunken keyboards. They also tend toward smaller hard drive sizes ... oftentimes much, much smaller. What you get in return is a small PC that is truly ultra-portable, weighing less than two pounds in some cases. In other words, a netbook is an ideal travel companion. Is a...

A philosophical shift has taken place in the abortion rights movement. After confronting either a pro-life president or a pro-life majority in Congress for 26 of the last 28 years, abortion advocates have now secured sympathetic majorities in all three branches of government. And change in government has brought change to a movement that's moved beyond working to secure a woman's right to choose abortion. Its new goal is much more audacious - to coerce others into violating their consciences and participating in the murder of innocent human life. It's a shift from merely being "pro-choice" to being "pro-abortion." This...

March 5, 2009 - Thursday President Obama has nominated Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, one of the most divisive elected officials in the United States, to be Secretary of the vast U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. In that role, in addition to overseeing an annual budget of $821 billion that affects every American's health, Sebelius will have chief responsibility for guiding the creation of the Obama health care plan. As governor, Sebelius time and again failed Kansas women and families, opposing good health policies. To name just a few examples: * In 2003 and 2005, she vetoed bills that...

Reporting from New York -- Before Glenn Beck started his new show on Fox News in January, he sat down with Roger Ailes, the network's chief executive, to make sure they were on the same page. "I wanted to meet with Roger and tell him, 'You may not want to put me on the air. I believe we are in dire trouble, and I will never shut up,' " said the conservative radio host. But before Beck could say anything, Ailes shared a message of his own: The country faced tough times, he said, and Fox News was one of...

Dear Chairman Steele, First of all, congratulations on your recent election as chairman of the RNC. I know you have gotten off to somewhat of a rocky start with your recent tiff with Rush Limbaugh. You have since apologized to Rush and I, for one, am willing to forget about it. Now on to the serious business: ANYONE who hasn't figured out by now that BHO is a hardcore Marxist hellbent upon implementing socialism and massive federal government intrusion into our economy is simply delusional. Rush Limbaugh gave a thorough analysis of BHO's ruinous socialist agenda at the speech he...

More than 1.5 million homes are seriously delinquent and close to foreclosure More than 11% of all mortgages are either delinquent or in foreclosure, according to an industry report released Thursday. The percentage of borrowers at least one month behind in their mortgage payments - but not in foreclosure-rose to nearly 8% during the fourth quarter of 2008, according to the National Delinquency Report from the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA). This is the highest rate of delinquency ever recorded by the survey, which began in 1972, and reflects a record 13% jump compared to the third quarter. "Subprime ARM loans and...

It's been fun debating whether the GOP leadership vacuum is being filled by Rush Limbaugh, but I think Rudy Guiliani said it best this morning on CNN: Rush is a powerful voice within the party, but he is not a leader of the party. Leadership is completely different from what Rush does. Both have their place. And Rush seems way out of his element challenging a sitting president to a talk show debate. Aren't Republicans the same ones who think Democrats don't show enough respect for the office? Don't they bemoan Obama's shirt-sleeves attire in the Oval Office? And yet...
