It is the dirty little literary secret of which most are guilty but few openly admit: pretending to have read highbrow books like War and Peace to make ourselves appear more intelligent and sexy than we actually are. Languishing on shelves up and down the country are copies of such worthy tomes as Leo Tolstoy's epic, George Orwell's political allegory 1984 and James Joyce's Modernist classic, Ulysses. But while we like to brag about how we have read - and understood - them, most of us simply lie, according to a survey released to mark World Book Day today. Under...

Does anyone here recall Nickelodeon presenting a cartoon homage to President George W. Bush? No? Of course not. "Wrong" politics. However, if you think your very young children are safe from being exposed to subtle political brainwashing while watching Nick Jr., which presents Nickelodeon cartoons for children 5 and under, you would be wrong. Check out this poetic cartoon homage to Barack Obama currently running on Nick Jr.. "[C]ommercial shackles are generally unjust, oppressive and impolitic. ...[I]f industry and labour are left to take their own course, they will generally be directed to those objects which are the most productive, and this in a more certain and direct manner than the wisdom of the most enlightened legislature could point out." --James Madison, speech to Congress, 9 April 1789

Nearly 10 percent of Georgia state legislators are late filing or paying their state taxes, and state Sen. Robert Brown is apparently among them. Brown, D-Macon, said Wednesday he’s not sure whether he actually owes the state or federal government any money because he hasn’t filed tax returns. He said he’s gotten extensions, but he declined to give more information or say for what years he received filing extensions.

Just heard Laura ask Larry Kudlow if it was true he was considering running against Dodd in Connecticut next election. He said, he's thinking strongly about it. Wouldn't that be good news???

It would appear that our fine "politicians" have no intention of removing (or even tempering) any part of The Bezzle in our financial system. As a consequence, the market will do it for us. The bad news is that we've chained our ship to Europe, and they're in bigger trouble in this regard than we are: "European banks face a US dollar “funding gap” of almost $2 trillion as a result of aggressive expansion around the world and may have difficulties rolling over debts, according to a report by the Bank for International Settlements. " Bernanke, without the consent of...

Wanna bet some of that Nobel money? Paul Krugman suggests that my skepticism about the administration's growth forecast over the next few years is somehow "evil." Well, Paul, if you are so confident in this forecast, would you like to place a wager on it and take advantage of my wickedness? Team Obama says that real GDP in 2013 will be 15.6 percent above real GDP in 2008. (That number comes from compounding their predicted growth rates for these five years.) So, Paul, are you willing to wager that the economy will meet or exceed this benchmark? I am not...

Giuliani said Rush has one of the most influential voices in the party with a huge listening audience. Giuliani said he hopes President Obama succeeds in every respect, although he does not believe the course Obama is taking will succeed. . . . . (Watch Video)

Fortunately, we have Keith Olbermann to point out that Rush Limbaugh did not accurately quote the preamble to the Constitution in his CPAC speech last weekend. I'm not sure what scam Olbermann imagined Rush was trying to put over on the American people by saying conservatives believed in the "preamble to the Constitution" and then quoting words from the Declaration of Independence -- but Olbermann put an end to that cruel deception! These small-time opportunities to show off by correcting someone else's teeny-tiny mistakes are the lifeblood of Olbermann's MSNBC show, "Countdown." Olbermann is no more capable of not correcting...

Remember back when the stimulus package was being passed and we all were talking about how April 15 would be a great day to rally against all this spending? Remember how many of us said we should do something? Well, don't just sit there and complain there's not a protest in your town--PLAN ONE! Here's a guide for how to do it. Don't sit there--do something!

For CCSU student John Wahlberg, a class presentation on campus violence turned into a confrontation with the campus police due to a complaint by the professor. On October 3, 2008, Wahlberg and two other classmates prepared to give an oral presentation for a Communication 140 class that was required to discuss a “relevant issue in the media”. Wahlberg and his group chose to discuss school violence due to recent events such as the Virginia Tech shootings that occurred in 2007. Shortly after his professor, Paula Anderson, filed a complaint with the CCSU Police against her student. During the presentation Wahlberg...

Chris Carter, the Director of the Victory Institute, joins American Mom Radio to discuss the Fairness Doctrine. When Democrats say that they will not implement the Fairness Doctrine, they are actually right (despite their numerous claims). Instead of implementing it through the front door, they will go through the back door. Discusses John Podesta's study, which Obama repeats almost word-for-word.

The recent concerted attack on radio talk show personality Rush Limbaugh by several Obama proxies raises interesting questions, including: is this really about Rush Limbaugh, or does it reflect the ever-present undertone of Democratic-Left racism?

WHAT'S REALLY SCARING WALL ST...... fresh threats of higher taxes on the most productive......bank bailout mystery..........contradictory policy measures......vows to unclog the banking system of toxic mortgage debt, along with a mortgage "cram down" that would make that debt more toxic. Candidate Obama won over the street even as he was bashing the financiers who'd plunged the country into crisis b/c of bad bets on risky bonds. Sources say Jamie Dimon, JP Morgan, Lloyd Blankfein, Goldman Sachs, John Mack, Morgan Stanley and Dick Fuld, then of Lehman Bros were supporters, as were Larry Fink of money-management powerhouse BlackRock, and senior execs...

We would say “Would the last honest Democrat please turn out the lights,” but we fear the eternally-burning bulbs would impact global warming. Ron Kirk, the president’s nominee for U.S. trade representative, has agreed to pay $10,000 in back taxes. Kirk played a little fast and loose with past speaking fees, took an improper deduction for the cost of his Dallas Mavericks season tickets, and claimed exorbitant charitable deductions. Adolfo Carrion, the president’s nominee for ‘Urban Czar’ is also in hot water. He’s accused of receiving kickbacks from developers whose projects he approved while serving as Bronx Borough President. An...

Five-minute gap fuels conspiracy theory over Lahore terror attack Jeremy Page in Lahore and Anne Barrowclough in Sydney An unexplained five-minute delay in the Pakistani cricket team schedule has fuelled speculation that the gunmen who launched a terror attack against the Sri Lankan Test team this week were acting on inside information. After a furious tirade by the English match referee, Chris Broad, yesterday, both an Australian umpire and Sri Lanka's star spin bowler fed the conspiracy theory today, questioning the level of security and the timing of events. "You tell me why supposedly 20 armed commandos were in our...
