Despite efforts by the Obama political team and its surrogates to link Rush Limbaugh to the Republican Party, just 11% of GOP voters say the conservative radio commentator is the party’s leader. Eighty-one percent (81%) of Republican voters disagree and 8% are undecided in a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Democrats, however, are closely divided-- 44% say Limbaugh is the Republican leader and 41% don’t believe it. Among voters not affiliated with either of the major national parties, 27% say Limbaugh is the Republicans’ leader, while 58% say he is not and 15% are undecided.

Today is Wednesday, which means it's party time at the White House! The Associated Press explains: Since the presidency changed hands less than six weeks ago, a burst of entertaining has taken hold of the iconic, white-columned home of America's head of state. Much of it comes on Wednesdays. The stately East Room, where portraits of George and Martha Washington adorn the walls, was transformed into a concert hall as President Barack Obama presented Stevie Wonder with the nation's highest award for pop music on Wednesday. A week before that, the foot-stomping sounds of Sweet Honey in the Rock, a...

John Edwards’ ex-lover, Rielle Hunter, is not writing a book or giving interviews. Edwards' wife, Elizabeth, however, is doing just the opposite. Here is a picture of Frances Quinn Hunter, whose last name should be Edwards, according to sources. It’s from her first birthday, on Feb. 27, just one week ago. With her is her mother, Rielle Hunter, the filmmaker and ex-lover of former Sen. John Edwards. Edwards has admitted the affair, but denied that the baby is his. There is no father’s name on Frances Quinn’s birth certificate. Hunter is said to be upset about a story in...

In this clip from the floor of the Senate, Senator Inhofe talks about a back-door scheme by Democrats to sneak an anti-free speech amendment into law. Will the totalitarian left tell the truth and let America know they want to regulate speech? No way. They will try to sneak in anything they think America would find distasteful. These fascists who would regulate our very breath, speech and expressions are quite serious and unprincipled. Good job, Senator Inhofe

Quick. Break out the smelling salts. We’re feeling a little weak in the knees. The New York Times has admitted that Barack Obama isn’t who they thought he was. “But the Obama budget is more than just the sum of its parts. There is, entailed in it, a promiscuous unwillingness to set priorities and accept trade-offs. There is evidence of a party swept up in its own revolutionary fervor — caught up in the self-flattering belief that history has called upon it to solve all problems at once.” “Those of us who consider ourselves moderates — moderate-conservative, in my case...

Doomsday nation Nuclear-armed and terrorist-riddled Pakistan is spinning out of control, writes Sally Neighbour March 05, 2009 IN 1994 a group of religious students from a madrassa in Kandahar banded together to take on the vicious warlords who then ran southern Afghanistan. About 30 young men with 16 rifles stormed a military camp where two girls were being held and raped, rescuing the girls and hanging the camp's commander from the gun barrel of a tank, or so the story goes. Thus began the movement known as the Taliban, from the word talib, meaning student. As Pakistani author Ahmed Rashid...

Treasury Secy Geithner proposes a crackdown on "tax evasion and avoidance" before tax cheat Cong Rangel's committee........Geithner belatedly paid $40K in taxes he blew off working for the IMF 2001-04. Rangel's famous tax troubles are the subject of a House Ethics Committee investigation..... The latest of Team Obama's tax chiselers is US trade rep nominee, Ron Kirk, ex-Dallas mayor, who owes some $10,000. HHS pick Daschle and "performance czar" nominee Nancy Killefer both withdrew over tardy tax issues....... Somebody's got to go after tax evaders and avoiders.....like OJ went after the real killers.

ScienceDaily (Mar. 3, 2009) — As the world marks the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin's birth, there is much focus on evolution in animals and plants. But new research shows that for the countless billions of tiniest creatures – microbes – large-scale evolution was completed 2.5 billion years ago. "For microbes, it appears that almost all of their major evolution took place before we have any record of them, way back in the dark mists of prehistory," said Roger Buick, a University of Washington paleontologist and astrobiologist. All living organisms need nitrogen, a basic component of amino acids and proteins....

IDAHO FALLS - National seed sales are up 20 percent so far this year, according to Time Magazine. Even though most of the plants in the ground are still dormant, the economy has people looking to save money on groceries by planting and growing their own fruits and vegetables in their own back yards. "The demand for seed has increased quite a bit this year," said Aaron Brown, Eagle Rock Nursery. "Usually this time of year there is hardly anyone buying seed but this year it's been pretty steady." Seeds are becoming a hot commodity at local nurseries. They are...

Jim Cramer. Rush Limbaugh. Rick Santelli. What do they all have in common? Most likely, none of them is getting invited to the White House Christmas party. All three media personalities have been singled out by President Obama's press shop in the course of less than two weeks. White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, in doing so, has shown an unusual willingness to spar with cable and radio hosts who take shots at his boss. The rebuttals have ranged from playful ribbing to disdainful scolding. Talk show host Limbaugh has drawn the most ire from the White House. Chief of...

Will ending the culture wars be as difficult as repairing a broken economy? If President Obama's primary task is to restore economic growth, he has also been waging a quiet, long-term campaign to ease the nation's divisions around religious and moral questions. That venture, which has its roots in a 2006 speech that paid tribute to the political role of religious Americans, bore fruit in last year's election. Obama increased the Democratic share of the vote among Roman Catholics and younger evangelical Christians....

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. posted February same-store sales more than double analysts' expectations, as a host of other retailers have been exceeding downbeat estimates amid the continued slide in consumer spending. The company regained its footing after sales growth slowed somewhat the prior two months. Wal-Mart has been benefiting from the slumping sales seen by other retailers as consumers trade down and do more bargain shopping. The world's largest retailer reported a 5.1% increase in U.S. same-store sales last month, excluding gasoline sales, with the namesake chain posting a 5% increase and ...

The assignment for Central Connecticut State University student John Walberg and his two classmates was to give an oral presentation on a "relevant issue in the media." The three chose school violence for their topic. After the oral presentation was over, professor Paula Anderson of Communication 140, promptly filed a complaint with the CCSU Police against student Wahlberg claiming he made students "scared and uncomfortable." Professor Anderson deemed Wahlberg a "perceived risk" and felt it was her duty to "protect" her class. What did the young man say in his oral assignment that was so threatening? Shockingly, Wahlberg had the...

Want to know the sordid details of how the press sucks up to staffers at the White House? According to Politico's Michael Calderone it is via a "beat sweetener" article, a concept well known in Old Media circles. A "beat sweetener" is an article meant to flatter a White House staffer so that said reporter might find easier access to the inside stuff later on. Calderone's piece is an interesting glimpse into the world of Washington political reporters and it isn't one that builds much confidence among us, the readers. Perhaps, like a magician revealing his tricks, Calderone might find...

WASHINGTON -- "Rush is the bloated face and drug-addled voice of the Republican Party," Paul Begala is quoted as saying in the Washington Post. Begala is asseverating on Rush Limbaugh, the most popular radio commentator in the country, but alas one who disagrees with Begala. I think it speaks volumes about Begala's obliviousness that he would bring up physical traits in attempting to make some political point. Has he beheld himself in a mirror lately? Even friends know him as "The Skull," owing to his cadaverous countenance. You may only have seen him on television. I have had the gruesome...

Pick up any newspaper, listen to the radio, watch TV, or read hundreds of Internet articles and you will find that states, counties and cities are salivating (or is it swooning) over getting a piece of Obama’s un-read, 1,100-page, Stimulus Package. It is not only disgusting, it borders on criminality. Government can only exist on our taxes. But government, at every level, has spent and spent and spent, when economic times were good, without any regard to the inescapable fact that times won’t be good, sometime in the very near future. Why? Because economies are cyclical and even more...

Rope jumping makes bungee jumping look completely sane and kinda cute. There's no flex: The whole "not dying" part is determined entirely by where you anchor the rope—and where you jump.Leave it to the nation who contrived Russian Roulette to come up with rope jumping. It looks totally simple and straight forward, until you just think for a second about the physics involved. If you jump straight down, you could dislocate some important part of your body, or worse, you could snap the rope and keep on falling. The key is to jump so that you swing across the...
