Barack Hussein Obama will propose a massive business tax on greenhouse gases in his FY 2010 federal budget to be presented this week.
The massive tax increase and power grab was buried at the end on article on Obama's forthcoming budget proposal in The New York Times:
On energy policy, Mr. Obamas budget will show new revenues by 2012 from his proposal to require companies to buy permits from the government for greenhouse gas emissions above a certain cap. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that the permits would raise up to $300 billion a year by 2020.
Since companies would pass their costs on to customers, Mr. Obama would have the government use most of the revenues for relief to families to offset higher utility bills and related expenses. The remaining revenues would cover his proposals for $15 billion a year in spending and tax incentives to develop alternative energy.
The proposal is in keeping with a policy announcement candidate Obama made in 2007, as reported then by The Times:
"No business will be allowed to emit any greenhouse gases for free," Mr. Obama said in Portsmouth, N.H. "Businesses dont own the sky, the public does, and if we want them to stop polluting it, we have to put a price on all pollution."
Obama famously said in 2008 he would make American citizens' electricity rates skyrocket under his plan:
"What I've said is that we would put a cap-and-trade system in place that is more -- that is as aggressive if not more aggressive than anybody else's out there, so if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can, it's just that it will bankrupt them because they're going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted.
"When I was asked earlier about the issue of coal, uh, you know, under my plan of a cap-and-trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.
Regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad, because I'm capping greenhouse gases, coal-powered plants, you know, natural gas, whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money, they will pass that money on to consumers. If you can't persuade the American people that, yes, there's going to be some increase in electricity rates on the front end, but that over the long term because of combinations of more efficient energy usage and changing lightbulbs and more efficient appliances, but also technology improving how we can produce clean energy, that the economy will benefit. If we can't make that argument persuasively enough, you -- you can -- you can be Lyndon Johnson, you can be the master of Washington, you're not gonna get that done."
Obama, of course, has no intention of persuading the American people, he's going to ram his Marxist agenda up their tailpipes.
The time for running is over. Whether you call it the mother instinct, patriotism, or just plain common sense. The time to stand and fight is upon us.
“It’s just trying to put these companies out of business on some notion that government can force ....”
Bingo!!! As the president of the Czech Republic has accurately stated...it’s the new communism.
We do not even need to tax greenhouse gases if global warming is the threat that Algore says it is.
All we would have to do is set off hundreds of megatons of hydrogen bombs at the Nellis test site (TTAPS study). That would be much less detrimental to the economy.
Well, those of you/us who have a lot of gas within had better be careful too. Will we have to wear monitors???
Yes, I believe that’s why he was chosen for the White House, to destroy America.
Nancy looks downright orgasmic.
Ah, two great minds but on a single thought!
“On energy policy, Mr. Obama’s budget will show new
revenues by 2012 from his proposal to require companies to buy permits
from the government for greenhouse gas emissions above a certain cap.
The Congressional Budget Office estimates that the permits would raise
up to $300 billion a year by 2020.”
Since even the NYTimes acknowledges, in the next paragraph, that
businesses must transfer costs to consumers, this means every man,
woman and child in the US will pay, on average, close to $1,000 a year
more for goods and services due to this hidden tax.
But it gets better: “Mr. Obama would have the government use most of
the revenues for relief to families to offset higher utility bills and
related expenses...”
So this is redistribution, period.
Yes, I read that this a.m. - I was impressed. You never know where leadership is going to come from.
That said, at this point, I’d be more inclined to run, like the few aware Jews did at the rise of Hitler, if only there were someplace to run to. The problem is that we’re it. There’s no place else to go. Historically, people always ran here, but overnight, we’ve turned into a tyranny. Granted, everything isn’t quite in place yet, but it won’t take long for Bambi to consolidate his position.
I really don’t know what’s next.
We are trapped in a lifeboat with a deranged man. who has started to smash apart the boat,,,,
Much like the phrase in ghetto culture “keeping it real”. Badass in the lifeboat who always has to show off his “street cred” shoots a hole in the bottom of the lifeboat, and says “just keepin’ it real, man”.
This is not going to end peacefully.
If it comes comes down to it I will die fighting. If you have ever had the opportunity to visit a Nazi Death Camp, please do so. Fortunately I live in Idaho, away from a lot of the craziness. Obama and his minions want open revolt, so they can get martial law. If that happens, I don’t know what will go down, but it won’t be pretty.
What do you expect from a radical “community organizer”?
oops, my bad
have a nice day
Within a year, EVERYTHING will grind to a halt, the government will be broke, and the citizens starving.
IF, we still have a country by 2010....
Ike’s great insight on the Battle of the Bulge was that the Nazi offensive would eventually over-extend itself and be subject to a devastating counter-attack. The same thing is happening here. Logic, History, Economics and Common Sense all indicate that 0bama’s schemes will massively fail. When they do, we must be ready for a political counter-offensive that will push the country further to the right than we now dare dream.
He wasn’t saying ‘change.’ He was saying ‘chains.’
Thanks for the link. I missed that thread.
BAAAARF!!
