Thank you for posting this article. I heard Glenn Beck speaking about this topic earlier today on radio, but I missed most of what he was referring to.
I am currently a student, and I attend a community college near Greensboro, NC. Last semester, I took two history classes: one an American History I course (up to 1877), and the other a Civil War class. In both classes, my instructor, a self-professed pacifist, Buddist, admirer of Howard Zinn and Fidel Castro, used his position to propagate leftist dogma, much of which had no relevance to our course subject matter. Whether it was bashing Sarah Palin, Karl Rove (and anything else related to Bush 43), Fox News, the Alaska oil industry, and anything else he saw as a threat to his “progressive” way of thinking, my teacher took full advantage of his chance to indoctrinate “young minds full of mush.”
At the time, I was unsure of my major and my future career path, but after last semester’s brainwashing sessions, I have decided to enter the education field as a history teacher. I plan to offer our future high school and college students a traditional, patriotic alternative to the revisionist, anti-American propaganda being spewed by our leftist history professors in academia. After I earn my Bachelor’s Degree, I plan to teach in the N.C. public schools, and ultimately I hope to return to my current college to teach.
It is a given that liberal ideologues hold a monopoly at today’s universities across this nation. At one small college near Greensboro, however, the plans of one radical leftist to brainwash future generations with lies and distortions may have backfired, as he may be forced to share the lectern with an opposing point-of-view within the next decade.

go on vacation to a place with history, I’ve took my kids to most of the major battle sites during the war of southern independence.
Got to Williamsburg, St Augustine FL our nations oldest city, Plymouth MA, the north end in MA etc etc etc
the family gets a vacation and a history lesson.
I’ve been studying history for nearly 30 years and even on TV when watching a movie I point the faults out of the movie and tell them what really happened.
Get movies like Gods and generals, Gettysburg and then ask the kids things like imagine how they feel just before they did the Picketts charge.
History needs to be taught because you can damn well know that most teachers to day do not teach factual history.
My oldest at 12 has corrected teachers with his knowledge and there was only one sub teacher who scoffed at him and believe me she was reported to as many people as I could report too.
teachers say they want parents help but when parents do get involved the teachers do not like it.
What teachers really mean is that they want parents help in raising money for the schools or on field trips etc but they hate parents to know what the teachers say to the kids.
For some public school might be the only option so then get as many parents as you know and talk to each other,
Back each other up over a teacher incident, go as a group to the school the next day and demand to see that teacher.

I’m one of the people who will have to teach this mess if it becomes the state curriculum. I think there is a way to get it stopped- if enough people complain. Here’s a link to the page where the NC Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) is providing the documents and is soliciting feedback. Enough bad feedback would probably do the job. god bless you man! we all try to get though our day-to-day here while thinking of ways to change things, but you nailed it on the head. more people need to self-educate and then get back into the schools and TEACH so the next generation is stronger than the previous several.
Excellent points. It’s also noteworthy that the very ones who should be the most wary of being (re)enslaved are falling all over themselves to get at the front of the line. There’s probably a lesson there somewhere.
Well, I wasn’t really asking for myself. We homeschooled and my kids are now in a classical Christian school where they do actually learn history. I’m just talking about the millions of kids all over the country who are being indoctrinated. I wish I knew what we could do about that.

Thanks for the encouragement, phillyguy19. I was lucky enough to have a conservative, traditionalist history teacher for three years in high school who taught me a thorough curriculum of American history without the revisionist non-sense. Plus, my advisor at college leans rights himself, so that too is a major advantage in our left-wing enclave. It is difficult being in the vast minority on campus with my viewpoint being the subject of ridicule and suppression. I choose for now not to make a big deal about the liberal bias at my school as I do have to consider retribution against my GPA by other instrutors, but I plan to lay low and get my “revenge” after I get my degree and after I gain employment with the state school system.
The interesting part is, she's as far to the left politically as I am to the right. :-)

Schools don’t teach students analytical thinking and healthy skepticism! No doubt malleability is more convenient for administrative purposes, as a result, they aren’t paying as much attention -oh well, is it summer yet?
Of course, an engineering degree is a good solution to that above.

I took US history 4 times, never got past World War I. But it’s the early part through the civil war which seems most important to me. To start in 1877 is ridiculous. The 20th century and current events need to be given more class time.
In 12 years of public education, I don’t think I ever had a day of history class.
I went to catholic schools in the 50s and 60s. Had US history in elementary, middle, and high school. Then for good measure a year in college. Had to learn about the World Wars and later on the history channel and from books.
It makes sense in a very cynical way. The modern federal government was in place by then, and by not teaching our history up to that point the children will not know to ask how it happened.
