The Biden-Harris administration announced Monday that it was preparing to deploy thousands of additional troops to the Middle East — one day after President Joe Biden said that the prospect was off the table... In light of the elevated threat level, the Pentagon said on Monday that it was bolstering its Middle East presence by deploying a “few thousand” troops .... The additional troop deployment will be complemented by squadrons of fighter jets, Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh told reporters on Monday. ....

WHO ARE YOU CALLING A HYPOCRITE? I always chuckle a little when I must sit through someone's "sermon" on why he/she doesn't ever darken the door of a church. Invariably at the top of the list of reasons given for not attending is something about the church being so full of hypocrites. You know, those people who affect virtues and qualities they don't have ... religious fakes. The humor in this line of argument rests not so much in the fact that I never hear anything original, but rather in the facts surrounding the genesis of the word hypocrite....

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. announced an agreement with the Iraqi government Friday to wrap up the military mission in Iraq of an American-led coalition fighting the Islamic State group by next year, with U.S. troops departing some bases that they have long occupied during a two-decade-long military presence in the country. But the Biden administration refused to provide details on how many of the approximately 2,500 U.S. troops still serving in Iraq will remain there or acknowledge it will mark a full withdrawal from the country.... Following the November election, American forces will start departing from Ain al-Asad airbase...

The U.S. Navy has big plans for modernizing existing major end items. The maritime branch is excited about the next-generation DDG(X) destroyer and the F/A-XX next-generation fighter jet. Now, the SSN(X) futuristic submarine that will replace the Virginia-class boats is experiencing delays. The SSN(X) may not come to fruition until the early 2040s, which is hard to fathom. Who knows what the U.S. military will look like in two decades?

A Virginia shipbuilder has informed the Department of Justice that faulty welds may have been intentionally made on noncritical parts of in-service U.S. Navy submarines and aircraft carriers. Huntington Ingalls Industries' Newport News Shipbuilding this week reported that the welds that were made on in-service submarines and Ford-class aircraft carriers were not made by following welding procedure, reports USNI News Friday.

Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Lisa Franchetti is fantastic. She is the first woman to be CNO and the first woman to serve on the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Franchetti displays a soft touch when caring for individual sailors and their families and a unique toughness in naval warfighting. This is the correct combination of traits necessary to address future threats to the Navy, especially as the maritime branch ponders what to do about China. Now, Franchetti has overseen the development of a new maritime strategy to counteract Beijing’s efforts to dominate the United States in the Indo-Pacific. Dubbed by...

Imagine it is October 2025. A ceasefire has been achieved between Russia and Ukraine. Moscow’s attention shifted to North America. Canada’s left-wing prime minister leaned toward making a trade deal with Russia and its Central Asian partners. Washington, however, offered a last-minute financial sweetener, an early Christmas present of sorts, and Ottawa turned back to the U.S. Angry crowds hit the streets, causing chaos in Canada’s capital. Moscow promotes the violence, as its propagandists lauded democracy in action. When the police give way, Canada’s premier flees south. Russian operatives begin putting their candidates for office forward, and new elections confirm...

The Air Force and Northrop are testing different aspects of the B-21 while it’s in-air and are “expanding the operating envelope.” There is the main testing airplane, and two others are undergoing evaluations on the ground. The Air Force eventually want to acquire at least 100 B-21 Raiders. The stealth bomber is a dual-threat airplane that can deliver a nuclear payload or conventional munitions. Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota will have the first squadron.

“We’re in the business of sinking ships,” were the memorable words spoken by Air Force Gen. Kevin B. Schneider, commander of Pacific Air Forces. Toward that end, scores of B-2 Spirit long-range stealth bombers that can launch Long-Range Anti-Ship Missiles (LRASMs), B-52 Stratofortresses capable of launching LRASMs as well as AGM-84 Harpoon missiles, and B-1 Lancers have regularly operated in the Indo-Pacific. They are based out of allied facilities such as the Royal Australian Air Force’s Amberley airbase and the massive facility in Darwin, Australia.

After attending the UN General Assembly high-level week, U.S. President Joe Biden and Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky will head to Washington where they will discuss Zelensky’s request for permission to use Western long-range missiles to strike deeper inside Russian territory. The Biden administration has asked Zelensky for an accounting of how such strikes would advance a Ukrainian military victory. Zelensky has said that his Ukrainian victory plan is now complete and promised that his presentation will include the requested accounting, as it lays out what is required to accomplish a series of identified steps to victory. Although the details of...
  • The Air Force Has a Plan to Make Sure the F-22 Raptor Fighter Still Dominates

    National Security Journal ^ | 9/24/2024 | Brent M. Eastwood
In fact, the F-22 is likely the world’s stealthiest fighter and has a radar cross-section that is many times smaller than the F-35. This is why Air Force watchers often yearn for the sneaky Raptor warbird to be upgraded instead of being retired. The latest upgrade contract will add to the $7.8 billion in spending by 2030 for the F-22, which includes $3.1 billion for research and development and $4.7 billion in acquisition. The F-22 Raptor first flew over 26 years ago, so it is looking for enhancements to maintain its freshness and relevance for the next few decades before...

Why, in addition to building a hyper-modern fleet of stealth fighters, has China decided to invest in a bomber that didn’t even represent the cutting edge of 1950s-era jet technology? For many of the same reasons that the United States will continue to operate the B-52 Stratofortress for the foreseeable future, China’s navy and air force have determined that the ancient Xian H-6 bomber will continue to serve as a nuclear deterrent and a maritime combat aircraft, more than seventy years after its first flight.

It was a “simple question,” the moderator told former president Donald Trump during the recent presidential debate, “Do you want Ukraine to win this war?” Trump answered that he wanted to end it and has been pilloried for not just saying “yes.” Vice President Kamala Harris didn’t say yes either, but unlike her rival, she made it clear she backed Ukraine against Russian aggression. In truth, it is not a simple question. What does it mean to win? There is no shared view in the West or between the West and Ukraine.

The United States Army has responded to Congressional questioning over training slides that labeled pro-life groups as terrorist organizations, revealing that over 9,000 soldiers were trained using those slides. Despite this, those responsible are still refusing to give any explanation as to how this was allowed to happen, or how it will be prevented going forward. This summer, slides from the training presentation at Fort Liberty in North Carolina were leaked, which included National Right to Life and Operation Rescue as potential terrorist groups. Bullet points said being “anti-abortion” and “Pro Life,” as well as opposing “Row v Wade [sic]”...
