WASHINGTON Megan Watson, leader of Mainstream Moms, is so angry at military recruiters for invading schools to sign up unwary youth for combat in Iraq that she and her group launched an online movement, LeaveMyChildAlone.org.
They offer these trinkets to lure our children to enlist, Watson said in a phone interview from her home in Bolinas, Calif. This is very aggressive, demographic targeting to have conversations with our kids that should not be happening.
All branches of the military are falling short of recruiting goals as parents say, in effect, Hell no! My kids wont go! Watson blasted the aggressive recruiting drive as a backdoor draft conducted by the Pentagon because the American people reject a return to military conscription. Ive heard it called an economic draft, she said. They know where to find kids who dont think they have a lot of options. They are playing on our childrens lack of hope about college and their future.
...
Watson shares these views. I do utterly oppose our occupation of Iraq, she said. We are spending $4 billion every month on this war. People are seeing the cost not only in dead and wounded but also in their own communities. Libraries forced to close. No National Guard to fight forest fires. They cant find $8.5 billion of the funds we sent to Iraq. And they want to squeeze it out of Medicaid funding for senior citizens. Its just outrageous

Joining the effort are a dozen peace and justice groups including the Ella Baker Center, ACORN, Code Pink, Peace Action, American Friends Service Committee, Latinos for Peace and Veterans for Peace.

"Bolinas? Ya gotta be kidding me! Small hamlet north of San Fran filled with aging hippy's smoking dope! They're so far left they make the rest of California look conservative...."
They still take down the signs which tell how to get to Bolinas. If we stop there on the way to the coast, I feel like I need to shower and decontaminate our vehicle.
One of them replied: "Our country has been attacked and our fellow citizens blood was spilled on our soil. Those who did it will do it again unless they are stopped. It's about America and our future. My country needs me and I feel the desire to answer the call and serve my country. It's not about politics, Dad."
Congratulations Chief. You are the sole replier in 2 hours! That's kinda brass a Marines has.
Now as for it not being about politics, I disagree. If our leaders/legislators were obeying their Oath of Office instead of following the Communist Manifesto, I would agree with you. The policies differences between the Democrats and the Republicans is so fine that we need a microscope to determine just who writes the Bills nowadays.
Hillary is spouting off about how she supports a secure border and our fine Republican President doesn't have the cajones to think it is his duty to keep us safe from a terrorist who wants to carry a suitcase with a nuclear or bio bomb in it across the border with the illegal aliens keeping a lookout for the Border Patrol. He would rather support globalism than the Constitution.
When there was obvious, clear cut differences between the two parties in every vote that's when politics didn't enter the picture. Today their goals are so intertwined I have to study a Bill to determine whether it was written by a Democrat or a Republican. Key conservative principles no longer exist. Assistance, tolerance and appeasement of our enemies seem to be the main goals of both parties these days and I cannot support them.
I have got that set of principles, them ones that are old,
they get in my way, 'cause they just won't fold.
"Some neoconservatives these days argue big government is OK so long as it is conservative big government representing values in which they believe. Big government is not OK. Every inch the government grows, the same inch is taken from the liberties of the people, starting with the basic liberty of spending your own money the way you choose rather than the way the government chooses to spend it for you. Massive programs inevitably have unintended consequences; government, though necessary for many purposes, is no more a precision instrument for constructive social change than a sledgehammer is for brain surgery."

But she's OK with homosexuals in the schools.
Do a google search on: GLSEN and
You will be amazed at how insidious they are.
Can we use the "leave my child alone" slogan against the atheists and queers? What about against the "go to school and arrange an abortion without your parents' knowledge" crowd? And how about against the "shove diversity/tolerance down your throat till you puke" crowd?
Commie Scum alert!
Hey, Bitch! Your "child" is of the same age that my Dad was when he enlisted in the US Navy to fight the Japs and Krauts! The problem with you "moms" and you give "Mom" a real bad name, is that you don't understand that eventually, you have to let your personal piece of art go out into the world, and if, despite your pathetic attempts, he turns out to be a good American, there isn't a damned thing you can do about it. You had 18 years to beat patriotism out of him...I guess you didn't beat him hard enough!
I guess they think their kids are pretty stupid.
Was invited to a highschool to speak. The teachers and staff were absolutely hostile to my soldier. However, the students, OTOH, left classes to track my soldier down on the campus to talk and visit and learn.
I think it's more that these liberal parents at NOT pro-choice, or for allowing their children to have a TRUE liberal Arts Education.
The problem is the grown-ups. Not most the students or children.
Especially teens. And liberals claim to Understand "children" -- They don't. Except for children so badly damaged -- I think most grow up and find their path in life. I have hope for this mother's children.
It's one of the oldest cycles in the world.
You've pointed out their hypocrisy, perfectly.
I would have been in the Navy if my parents didn't tell me I couldn't go.
I went right to the Naval Recruit table at my career night when I was in H.S.
lol! Amazing, isn't it.
I totally agree. Or send them to a third world country for volunteer peace corp type work for a minimu of 1 year...they might come back grateful that they have hot running water and a chance to have a job and eventually a home.
At least I wouldn't have to see all these 18 yr old a@#holes at the mall with their pierced bodies and pants dragging to the ground calling the girls "Ho's". THAT alone would be worth a 2 yr military obligation.
I have no doubts whatsoever that you did! Obviously, the Good Lord had another path for you.
I wouldn't have had my family that I have now if I went Navy ^-^
You are blessed, indeed! :>
These militaryphobes are just intolerant racists. ;)
