A robot has outperformed humans by running faster than Usain Bolt's 100m sprint world record at the World Humanoid Robot Games in China. The humanoid robot, developed by the Beijing Innovation Centre of Humanoid Robotics, ran the distance in 9.39 seconds at the event. Eight-time Olympic gold medallist Bolt set the world record for humans in 2009, running 100m in 9.58 seconds. The robot beat two others including one made by Chinese smartphone maker Honor - which the manufacturer says ran the distance in 9.32 seconds in a test run. Other events at the robot games, which started on Saturday,...

IN SOME PARTS of the West, children of healthy weight have become the exception. In poor countries, childhood obesity is spreading faster than ever before. The problem is not new: the percentage of overweight children around the world crept up in the 1980s, as junk food became a dietary staple. But the trend today is alarming. A report by UNICEF, the United Nations’ children’s agency, published on September 10th, found that the number of school-aged children who are obese is, for the first time, higher than those who are severely undernourished (see chart 1). One-fifth of children aged 5-19 are...

Join with fellow FREEPERS to pray for AMERICA: For those in Authority in Government, Family, Military, Business, Healthcare, Education, Churches, and the Media. I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone: for kings and all those in authority that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men,...

President Trump announced Friday that the U.S. will wave through 300,000 metric tons of imported ground beef over the next three months with the out-of-quota tariff switched off, and that "this beef will be sold at 25 percent below current market prices." Sold by whom went unmentioned. Shipped from where, likewise. Which foreign exporters agreed to any of this is a question the announcement left for later, along with the executive order itself, which the White House says arrives within 2 weeks. Ground beef hit $6.885 a pound in July, an all-time high and 83% above where it sat in...

There is a relatively new player in the news business that I have been watching with considerable interest. Ground News was founded in 2018 by former NASA engineer Harleen Kaur and Sukh Singh around what, on its face, is an excellent idea: stop allowing an algorithm to decide which version of the news you are permitted to see. That is a much bigger problem than most people realize. Google News presents itself as an aggregator, but aggregation is itself an editorial act. Someone, or more accurately an algorithm designed and tuned by someone, determines which publications appear at the top of...

A new storm has erupted in the American political arena: US President Donald Trump attacked three prominent figures in the conservative camp on his social media platform-media personality Tucker Carlson and former members of Congress Marjorie Taylor Greene and Thomas Massie. Trump leveled a series of harsh accusations at the three following a meeting between them, calling them “LOSERS ALL!" Trump directed the bulk of his remarks at former television host Tucker Carlson, who is known for his anti-Israel positions and antisemitic statements. Trump claimed that Tucker’s “‘Views’ have fallen through the floor," described him as “a very Low I.Q....

On Wednesday, CNN's Erin Burnett enthusiastically interviewed the brother of Natalie Harp, Preston Harp, who proceeded to slime both her and President Donald Trump. Of course, no pushback by Burnett as to what motivated him to attack his sister and Trump. Could it be because she and the CNN producers knew very well something quite toxic about him that would tend to cause much of their audience to dismiss his criticisms? The Washington Post on Saturday revealed the important background of Preston Harp that CNN oh so very conveniently declined to reveal to their audience in a story by Terrence McCoy,...

A U.S. judge on Friday struck down, opens new tab a Trump administration policy suspending the issuance of immigrant visas to applicants from 75 countries, saying that the policy exceeded Secretary of State Marco Rubio's statutory authority. U.S. District Judge Jeannette Vargas in Manhattan said the policy that the State Department announced in January was "patently unlawful" and ran afoul of federal immigration law, which explicitly stripped the secretary of state of authority over consular officers' processing of immigrant visas. "The Policy, which categorically prohibits the issuance of immigrant visas based upon the nationality of the applicant, represents a direct...

Far-right instigator and pardoned Jan. 6 insurrectionist Jake Lang was arrested Saturday, according to the Minneapolis Police Department. According to police, Lang held a protest around noon in front of Minneapolis City Hall when he and two others, in two cars, unexpectedly drove onto the sidewalk and toward a crowd of counter-protesters. "MPD had been aware of this demonstration for several weeks and developed a robust incident action in preparation for it," said Bill Peterson, the Interim Chief for the Minneapolis Police Department during a Saturday afternoon press conference. "That plan included putting on duty significant numbers of personnel, working...

GADSDEN, Ala. (WIAT) — Four people were injured in a drive-by shooting outside of a Waffle House in Gadsden Friday night. The shooting occurred after the Gadsden City High School football game, according to Gadsden Mayor Craig Ford. Mayor Ford confirmed all victims are in stable condition, and pledged to bring the shooter into custody by the end of the day. “It was a chaotic situation, but a stable situation,” Ford said in a video posted to Facebook Saturday morning. “Now for the shooter, I can assure you we will have him in custody by the end of the day....

Unless Israel draws concrete red lines in Syria and the eastern Mediterranean, the Turkish army and navy will further encroach upon Israel’s northern and maritime borders. Israel could find itself facing Turkish tanks on the Golan Heights and Turkish frigates off the coast of Caesarea. This is the warning I heard this week from a very senior Israeli intelligence official. The warning echoes the alarm expressed in the 2025 Nagel Commission report (which evaluated Israel’s security budget and force buildup) about the Turkish drive toward an Islamist-jihadist regional order with Ottoman-era hegemonic ambitions. First lady Melania Trump made a memorable return to the White House Rose Garden Thursday, greeting the crowd with a playful five-word message before an announcement filled with patriotism and horsepower. "I heard you missed me. Here I am," Trump said as she took the podium, as the crowd — including President Donald Trump — erupted in laughter. The first lady stood before a wall of American flags in a crisp sky-blue oversized Michael Kors shirt with the collar popped and a vivid red Dior pencil skirt, echoing the patriotic setting. She completed the look with red Manolo Blahnik suede...

A New Jersey real estate investor pleaded guilty earlier this week to participating in a multimillion-dollar mortgage fraud scheme and fraudulently obtaining more than $1.8 million in COVID-19 relief loans, according to U.S. Attorney Robert Frazer. Officials said 39-year-old Arthur Spitzer, of Toms River, pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of bank and wire fraud conspiracy and one count of money laundering in connection with the fraud schemes. According to prosecutors, who cited court documents and statements made in court, in June 2020, Spitzer conspired with Mendel Deutsch and Joshua Feldberger, who are both awaiting sentencing, to make it appear...

The Metropolitan Police's investigation into Lord Peter Mandelson is reportedly on the brink of collapse after US authorities ignored requests for information. The former US Ambassador faces charges of misconduct in public office over allegations he passed confidential information to paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein during the 2008 financial crisis. But in order for Scotland Yard to properly investigate, detectives believe they need access to the unredacted Epstein files. The US Department of Justice (DoJ) and FBI have so far ignored the Met's request for the documents, "The Daily Telegraph" reported...

Ben Rhodes wrote "At least you’re only a liar. Could be worse – we’re liars and also allegedly leakers. So you’ve got that going for you, which is something." RealRobert @Real_RobN·1h Here it is The one-third of the $40 trillion U.S. national debt has been identified. The Federal Reserve CONFIRMS: The U.S. Congress has built the single largest racket empire on the planet: U.S. NGOs have combined assets totaling $14.2 trillion of your tax money. “India’s and Japan’s GDPs are each just over $4 trillion, Germany’s is $5 trillion, and together they total about $13.5 trillion. Guess what? The combined assets of U.S. NGOs equal $14.2 trillion of your tax money—and that of your children, grandchildren, and great-great-great-great-grandchildren.” In other words, the root of all corruption—the racket—is the U.S....

Black voters could play a decisive role in Michigan’s closely watched Senate race this November, raising the stakes for Democrats as signs of softer support among the historically reliable voting bloc threaten to complicate the party’s path to victory. National surveys suggest that the proportion of Black Americans who believe Democrats represent their interests is slipping. Additionally, the percentage of Black voters who identify with the Democratic Party fell by 10 percentage points between 2020 and 2025, according to the Pew Research Center. Fox News Digital spoke with roughly a dozen Black voters on the ground in Detroit, most of...

(Singapore) The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) is investigating claims that a wheelchair assistant at Changi Airport had $5 docked from his pay for being 11 seconds late for work. In response to queries from The Straits Times, MOM said on Aug 21: "We are aware of this case and have contacted Aventa Services, the employer of the affected employee, to establish the nature and extent of the deductions." The ministry said that it will take appropriate enforcement actions if the deduction is found to be unauthorised or excessive. The incident first came to light in an Aug 12 LinkedIn post...

THE MAN IN THE GLASS I first heard the poem some years ago as a song performed by a former pop musician turned Christian entertainer. Its words had a powerful impact. They were a challenge to self-examination, and a warning about the consequences of life lived without integrity. They were a reminder that each of us must live with his or her self. And that we KNOW what's behind our image, no matter how carefully crafted, or how convincing it may be to others. I wonder if it might also speak to you. It's entitled "The Man in the...
