🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem🇮🇱 (10/25/26)[Prayer]

Personalities

Psalm 63[a]

A psalm of David. When he was in the Desert of Judah.

1  You, God, are my God,

    earnestly I seek you;

I thirst for you,

    my whole being longs for you,

in a dry and parched land

    where there is no water.

2  I have seen you in the sanctuary

    and beheld your power and your glory.

3  Because your love is better than life,

    my lips will glorify you.

4  I will praise you as long as I live,

    and in your name I will lift up my hands.

5  I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods;

    with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

6  On my bed I remember you;

    I think of you through the watches of the night.

7  Because you are my help,

    I sing in the shadow of your wings.

8  I cling to you;

    your right hand upholds me.

9  Those who want to kill me will be destroyed;

    they will go down to the depths of the earth.

10  They will be given over to the sword

    and become food for jackals.

11  But the king will rejoice in God;

    all who swear by God will glory in him,

    while the mouths of liars will be silenced.

Psalm 63:1 In Hebrew texts 63:1-11 is numbered 63:2-12.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD,

Our God,

How Excellent is Your Name Over All The Earth!

We Come into Your Presence With Praise and Thanksgiving.

For You Alone Are Worthy,

You Alone Are Are LORD,

You Alone Are The Most High,

You Alone Are The One True God.

How good it is to sing praises to You,

For You Are Gracious,

And a Song of Praise is fitting.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

It could be because the heat came on during the night, or because of the antibiotics, but I woke up this morning SO THIRSTY. (It didn't help matters that I've been reading a very well-researched book about the Mutiny on the Bounty, which went into great detail about Captain Bligh's epic feat of navigation in an open boat 3000 miles through the South Pacific. I can't even imagine!). I leaped out of bed and ran to the kitchen, and guzzled down a whole eight ounce glass of water. Then I filled up and drank another.

Thirst is possibly the most powerful need a creature can have. It's even worse when you are surrounded by water that will kill you if you drink it.

It may have been Bligh's journey that inspired The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, written by English poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge in 1797–98, since Bligh and Coleridge were contempories.

It was from that poem that we get the line:

"Water, Water, everywhere, and Not A Drop to Drink".

Here's something I wrote about Thirst, and it's effect on our bodies and minds:

Just the other day, I was telling my hairdresser about the Twentieth Century Cinematic Masterpiece "Lawrence of Arabia". (We were discussing the opening scene with the motorcycle crash, since she also rides). I was stunned that this young woman knew nothing about the movie, about Lawrence, or even much about WW1. So I had to backtrack and explain everything from the beginning of the Century, the Ottoman Empire, Austria-Hungary, the Axis Powers, The Balfour Declaration, the Arab Revolt, the Russian Revolution, and the Formation of the modern Middle East, in order to set the stage for Lawrence of Arabia. Otherwise, the movie didn't make sense. Actually, that whole Era didn't make sense, but here we are.

My favorite "Lawrence of Arabia" story goes well with this Psalm. The movie premiered in Boston in a theater that was a predecessor to IMAX called Cinerama. The screen wrapped around the audience so that we were immersed in the picture. The sound came from several huge Altec-Lansing Voice-Of-The-Theater Speakers, which enthralled my Dad so much that he ended up buying two of them for our living room. (My brother still has them!) The movie was long enough to require an Intermission, which occurs right after Lawrence walks across a blazing desert.

As soon as the lights came on for the Intermission, the entire audience poured into the lobby and lined up at the water fountain! The movie experience had made everybody THIRSTY!

It made me sad to think that young people know nothing of History. Even if Hollywood embellished a story, at least they used to make movies about Literary, Historic, or Biblical themes. Certain events were common knowledge at one time. Anyway...enough of my rant!

Today's Psalm is about a Thirst, not just for water, but for the presence of God. It is not an illusion wrought by a movie image, but a real thirst that permeates the very soul of our existence. It can only be satisfied with Living Water...and you DON'T have to wait in line.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. (Mark 4:22)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen
