Daily Bell: We were surprised by how good Thrive was, especially since we'd been critical of it previously. Why did you make such a high-budget production as opposed to, say, writing a book or article? Foster Gamble: First of all, I want to comment on your being surprised. Frankly, I was shocked and really disappointed that The Daily Bell was doing an in-depth review of the film, really twice, without having seen it. It was not the kind of critical thinking I usually associate with the Daily Bell, so I am glad that some of your people, including yourself, have...

In the 1960s, I came across a small training manual distributed by the Communist Party that showed how a small group of people – as few as four – could dominate a much larger group and sway the outcome of any action taken by that group. It was called the Diamond Technique. The principle is based on the fact that people in groups tend to be effected by mass psychology. They derive comfort and security from being aligned with the majority, especially if controversy or conflict is involved. Even if they do not like what the majority is doing, if...

In an open letter just sent by the White House, First Lady Michelle Obama exhorts parents to use the Tucson tragedy as a teachable moment. It's a moment, she writes, for valuable lessons, "about the character of our country, about the values we hold dear, and about finding hope at a time when it seems far away." Here's the full text of the letter. Dear parents, Like so many Americans all across the country, Barack and I were shocked and heartbroken by the horrific act of violence committed in Arizona this past weekend. Yesterday, we had the chance to attend...

Good Friday morning. TOP TALKER – DNC BRAINSTORMS 2012 WITH BUNDLERS -- Jeanne Cummings: “Bracing for a half-billion-dollar onslaught of outside GOP cash in 2012, President Obama’s advisers are quietly working to bring back together the major donor base that produced a record-breaking fundraising haul in his first run for president. In the past few months, Democratic National Committee aides have contacted several of Obama’s earliest financial backers to brainstorm about when and where to host the first money-raising events. Several big donors said they expect the Obama 2012 operation to open its doors this spring, with a string of...

KUHNER: Obama's Tucson degradation President turned memorial program into political rally By Jeffrey T. Kuhner The Washington Times Thursday, January 13, 2011 President Obama is cynically exploiting the tragic shooting in Tucson for political gain. His memorial address Wednesday night was a surreal spectacle in narcissistic self-congratulation. It dishonored the victims... Instead of being a solemn and serious event, the memorial resembled a pro-Obama pep rally. The president of Arizona University praised Mr. Obama for his "visionary" and "courageous" leadership.... students regularly cheered, clapped, whistled and hollered. All the while, the president basked in his newfound glory.... Mr. Obama lectured...

"Acts of monstrous criminality stand on their own," Sarah Palin said. "Especially within hours of a tragedy unfolding, journalists and pundits should not manufacture a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence that they purport to condemn. That is reprehensible." When former Alaska Governor and vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin uttered the above words on Wednesday, the news media and the left -- often difficult to differentiate from one another -- again pounced on her with snippy commentary and accusations that her past pronouncements contributed to the otherwise senseless slaughter in Arizona last Saturday. "If anything...

From AP: Some question pep rally atmosphere at Obama speech What was billed as a memorial for victims of the Arizona shooting rampage turned into a rollicking rally, leaving some conservative commentators wondering whether President Barack Obama's speech was a scripted political event. Not so, insisted the White House and host University of Arizona. Not a political even in the least, they say. The university said it did the planning with minimal input from the White House. The school paid for the event, including $60,000 for 20,000 T-shirts bearing the words "Together We Thrive," which were handed out for free....

Sarah Palin wasn't responsible for the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords last weekend — not directly, not indirectly...... Still, the Arizona shootings and their aftermath will probably be remembered as the end of Ms. Palin's chances of being taken seriously as a Republican presidential candidate. She had an opportunity to rise to an occasion, and she whiffed...... Republican officeholders, fundraisers and political strategists aren't flocking to Ms. Palin's side either. "I don't see it happening," a top Republican fundraiser told me this week (though he asked for anonymity in case he turns out to be wrong). "I don't think she...

The “Together We Thrive” T-shirts that starred at Wednesday’s Arizona `Memorial’ originated from Organizing for America (here), a sad fact unearthed by The Drumbeat of Liberty and the Preservation of Freedom editor and Canada Free Press (CFP) columnist Robert Rohlfing. In the controversy of the pep rally/rock concert style Memorial for those who lost their lives in Saturday’s Arizona tragedy, the mainstream media reported that the “Together We Thrive: Tucson & America” T-shirt given to mourners as they entered McKate Center was the idea of University of Arizona brass, not the Obama administration.

Over 26,000 people attended last night's memorial service for the six people tragically killed Saturday, and the University of Arizona has received a flood of requests for T-shirts commemorating this service. At this time, they are unable to provide information on where to get a shirt commemorating "Together We Thrive: Tucson and America," but they will provide that information soon. The UA Office of Student Affairs is handling requests for T-shirts - those interested can call them and leave contact information. The office will send out information on how to obtain a shirt at a later date. Call the UA...

Obama has proven to be a polarizing figure in office, but on Wednesday he sought to unify. Palin ended up dividing. On a day of scripted messages, presumably carefully considered, Obama made the most of his. Palin did not.

For too long Americans have been set one against the other, it is a side affect of a free market society. How can profits be maximized, how can I get the work done for the lowest possible costs. This continually sets one group against the other, especially in the blue collar sectors of America. It has become a part of the American Business model, whether it was indentured servants, slaves picking cotton, sharecroppers, the industrious people that built the railroads or todays migrant workers. As long as we remain divided, fighting for the scraps that America has to offer it...
