President Obama is cynically exploiting the tragic shooting in Tucson for political gain. His memorial address Wednesday night was a surreal spectacle in narcissistic self-congratulation. It dishonored the victims...
Instead of being a solemn and serious event, the memorial resembled a pro-Obama pep rally. The president of Arizona University praised Mr. Obama for his "visionary" and "courageous" leadership.... students regularly cheered, clapped, whistled and hollered. All the while, the president basked in his newfound glory.... Mr. Obama lectured Americans about the need for "civility" in our national discourse...
Civility - or the supposed lack of it - had nothing to do with the tragedy. Yet Democrats and the liberal media desperately have been seeking to connect the massacre to Sarah Palin and the Tea Party movement. Paul Krugman, columnist for the New York Times, blames a "climate of hate" - conservative talk radio, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and Fox News - for the shooting.
This has been echoed by numerous left-wing pundits. According to progressives, this supposed culture of "right-wing extremism" poses an imminent threat to democratic values and public security. Hence, the airwaves must be regulated and conservative opinion marginalized. Rep. James Clyburn, South Carolina Democrat, is demanding the return of the "Fairness Doctrine,"....
This is a new McCarthyism: intolerance and hatred masquerading as civic virtue. Demonization trumps debate. The Tucson shooting reveals the totalitarian nature of the modern left: the willingness to seize upon the flimsiest pretexts to attack rivals as accomplices in mass murder - even when there is not a shred of evidence to support this view....

Did anyone count how many times Obama said I, me or my last night?
Who paid for all those blue tea shirts that the attendees were given to wear and what was the need to “brand” the event with a logo, “together we thrive”? We thrive? The poor dead people are not thriving nor are their families. I am missing something because all the pundits are saying how “brilliant” the program was and how wonderful the president’s comments were.
Together we thrive sounds like a slogan that you put on a bumper sticker or on a campaign stop. I thought the program was shameless and opportunistic at the expense of those poor grieving families.
Epic Fail.

The exact words that came to my mind when I saw it on TV
All the "conservative" commentariat that are lauding him are out of their minds - it was the most despicable thing I've seen out of a President

Well no duh! Liberals taking advantage of a tragedy? That would NEVER happen. /sarc

I could only stand 1 second of that narcissist (and in MY city!!), but it looked like the usual, nose high in the air, dictatorial reading of the teleprompter.
Apparently this is where their new party slogan came from (2008):

Civility, eh?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t his Zero-ness himself refer to TEA Partiers as tea-baggers?
What we need is more of the old McCarthyism.
How about Boehner and the GOP move a resolution denouncing marxist/leninism and wealth redistribution as un american and inconsistent with our national values, and make the red sons of bitches have to vote yea or nay.
Then announce a zero tolerance for marxists in Congress policy.
The shooting wasn’t fifteen minutes old before the demonic left turned it into a political assault on conservatives, so it would unreasonable to think the memorial service would be anything but a continuance of the creepiness.
Updating my tag line.
Oing
The Zero had the ethical responsibility to refuse to participate any further in this charade as it evolved away from any resemblance of a Memorial Service, but, by his actions he gave it the Presidental sign of approval. A very uncivli war is brewing and is being stoked by our very own POTUS.
I am absolutely disgusted by the Pundits on the right extolling the virtues of his speech. As if it is not his exact MO to say one thing with a wink and a nod while full well knowing what his unhinged base is doing and knowing full well they know he is counting on them to do his heavy lifting.
Does Obama have some dirt on Rupert Murdock?
The reason I ask is that all of the Fox News commentators are saying what a great speech Obama made.
He could have toned it down by lowering his voice to a somber level instead of yelling like he was at a campaign rally, and he chose not to. His inner “Community Organizer” just can’t help it.
“”I am missing something because all the pundits are saying how brilliant the program was and how wonderful the presidents comments were.””
I agree with you. Until I heard Mark Levin tonite. He ripped into the hypocrisy of Obama and the leftists.
But Mark Levin seems to be a minority among the conservative pundits.
