For seven weeks, Harry Dunn sat in the same seat before the House Select Committee on the Jan. 6 Attack. Cameras pointed in his direction snapped photos of his every reaction as details of the insurrection were shared with the public. Dunn looked on, not paying the photographers any mind. He was there for one reason: to hear the truth. Dunn, who is Black, was thrown into the spotlight in the weeks following the attack. The Capitol Police officer’s testimony before Congress detailed the horrors he faced on Jan. 6, 2021, from facing down the mob’s deluge of racial hatred...

CORTE MADERA, Calif. -- It was a Thanksgiving break unlike any other for dozens of families at a school in Northern California this year. Around 75 students at Neil Cummins Elementary School had to quarantine after parents of one student at the school knowingly sent their child to class after they had tested positive for COVID-19.

AOC: "I looked at this recipe and I needed basil, and I was going home and I get off the subway station and I go into the grocery store and there’s no basil, no fresh basil in the grocery store. So then I walked to another grocery store two blocks down, no fresh basil. I was very stubborn about making this recipe that evening, and I must’ve been — I must’ve walked around for an hour in our neighborhoods, visiting four or five grocery stores, and there was no basil, no fresh basil in any of them. And it just...

During the Comey hearing on Thursday, someone edited the Wikipedia entry for “obstruction of justice” to list President Donald Trump as one of many “notable examples.” The IP address used — 143.231.249.139 — is one that originates from the U.S. House of Representatives, but could have been spoofed, or changed, to appear as though it came from the House.

An email has been sent to staff at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announcing that all their agency’s televisions will show Fox News, apparently by order of the Trump administration. Journalist Paul Thacker tweeted a screengrab of the message, but an FDA spokesperson denied there had been any such order. It reads: “Please excuse me for sending this out to your entire group via your listserv, but I was alerted by a member in your group and I wanted to let everyone know that the reason for the change from CNN to Fox. “The reason for the change is...

The same people who just voted no on Paul Ryan's bill because it wasn't "conservative" enough, are the same people who voted to make Paul Ryan speaker of the House. Why? Was Ryan more conservative back then, then he is today? Did Ryan promise them something, in order to get their vote. Or is the FC just a bunch of hypocrites. I think honest people know the answer.

It's the Joe Biden you didn’t know — and might not want to see. Secret Service agents dread being assigned to protect the vice president, in part because Biden’s a big fan of skinny dipping, according to a new tell-all book. In “The First Family Detail,” author Ronald Kessler quotes unnamed Secret Service agents dishing about the supposedly “hidden lives” of Presidents and the other important people they protect.

Time has come for me to leave the chaos of FreeRepublic. Over the past 13 years I always felt that FR was the home of Conservatives with core values that could not be compromised. This election cycle has shown me that I have been wrong in my assessment. The lack of moral or intellectual commitment by many of the FR members has resulted in the end of my involvement. I'm sure JR and many others are pleased but know that the early years were great experiences. God Bless to all and enjoy the next 4 years of Obama.

[Ungawa! The Tea Party natives are restless, sparking alarm among the civilized panjandrums of the coastal media Raj. Who are these mysterious Fly-Over savages? What do they want? Conjectures abound, but only a few brave souls have dared strap on the pith helmet and safari into the belly of the beast. In order to sort out the answers I dug up this 2005 bit from the Iowahawk archives, prompted by a gripping gorillas-in-the-Midwest-mist travel adventure by Washington Post explorer David Von Drehle.] DAY ONE: BASE CAMP, IOWA CITY Mission: bring back Von Drehle.Continued

Another case of non-kosher food served on an El Al plane was reported on Thursday in the wake of Haredim and the El Al management seemingly heading toward compromise over a similar case reported on Tuesday and last week's Shabbat flight. Army Radio reported that passengers were unknowingly served non-kosher sandwiches on a flight from Budapest last Thursday after the kosher food brought from Israel had spoiled due to the plane's long stay at Budapest airport as it was unable to depart due to the general strike in Israel. El Al officials denied the report, saying that they had relayed...

I found the above and thought that perhaps others here would like to share their opinions how the lives of four seagulls stack up against what else is going on in the rest of the world with Mr. Ragan (tragan@santacruzsentinel.com). For what it's worth here's my response to his article... Dear Mr. Ragan, Given what's going on in Iraq, why should four dead seagulls be of any consequence whatsoever? The story reads as if the lives of these birds equate to those of humans. I realize that there are many who believe they do (particularly in California), but those of...

COLUMBUS, Ohio Democrats are accusing Ohio Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell of playing politics with his campaign Web site for governor. Democrats say the Republican's Web site has a voter registration form that's easy to use. Visitors can simply fill out the form online, print it out and mail it in. But on the Ohio Secretary of State's Web site, users are required to print the form and fill it out by hand. Jennifer Brunner is the Democratic candidate for secretary of state. She accuses Blackwell of wanting to make it easier for his supporters to register to vote. A...

A new security vulnerability in Safari has been identified by security experts at Secunia. The company - which rates the flaw as “extremely critical” - says that the vulnerability was discovered by a source outside the company, Michael Lehn. It can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system, it warns. The vulnerability is caused due by an error in the processing of file association meta data (stored in the "__MACOSX" folder) in ZIP archives. “This can be exploited to trick users into executing a malicious shell script renamed to a safe file extension stored in a ZIP...
