Authorities are looking for whoever shot and killed a female bald eagle found late last month in southeastern Arkansas. The body of the protected bird, the national symbol of the US, was found in Drew County on March 28, according to the US Fish and Wildlife Service and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission The AGFC said the bird's body was found near a nest and they believe she was tending to it at the time of her death. The Pittsburgh City Council on Tuesday approved new gun control legislation that will place restrictions on the use of military-style assault weapons, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported. The legislation, introduced after last year's mass shooting at an area synagogue, would make it illegal "to manufacture, sell, purchase, transport, carry, store or otherwise hold in one’s possession an assault weapon within the City," according to local NBC affiliate WPXI. The legislation will place restrictions on weapons like the AR-15 rifle, which authorities say was used in the Oct. 27 massacre at Tree of Life Synagogue that killed 11 and wounded several others.

We have tons of empathy for any parent who loses a child, particularly a very young child and, more specifically, to a crazed person who comes to their elementary school and kills them. So we understand that the parents whose children were killed by a mentally disturbed Adam Lanza at Sandy Hook, Conn., in 2012 want to blame something, someone, for their losses.
